  1. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 01:58 AM) I think that Soxtalk.com needs more "Alex Rios sucks" threads. The whole first page could be nothing but threads trashing Rios and it still wouldn't fully articulate what a waste of space he is.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) How do we know that they weren't? Hell, Alex Rios seems to be trying pretty hard to get out of here. Does Rios try hard at anything?
  3. LOL at the insinuation of racism as to why Rios is not liked. Rios is an overpaid, lazy, piece of s***, that's why nobody likes him. Dunn catches plenty of heat from this fanbase (in case people are missing the boos at the game), but the reason Rios is getting it worse is because he wanders around in the OF with his head up his ass like a little leaguer chasing butterflies instead of a major league baseball player. If Dunn was throwing to the wrong base or not hustlin to balls in the field you can bet your ass that people would be on him far worse than he already is. I personally feel that you should never boo a guy for being a bad baseball player, sometimes a guy is just having a bad day or maybe he just doesn't have the talent to play in the majors. The guys I will boo are guys that dog it in the field or on the bases (Rios) or guys that are just bad guys off the field (Brett Myers). For these reason, this is why guys like Rios and Jaime Navarro got booed, and why I am just disappointed in guys like Dunn and Mark Teahen.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) Exactly. If his intangibles were so off the charts, why was the line so bad? IMO, Olin was a good player for several years, but his current version won't be missed as dearly as many think. You mean you won't miss the asshat personal foul penalties Olin had a tendency to take every other game? The crying from Bears fans and Kreutz's fanboys in the media is hilarious to me. 4 million dollars is A LOT for a center, and far more money than Kreutz deserves. He is on the downside of his career and had a big hand in one of the worst offensive lines in football last year. Of course with all of that said Angelo is still a boob who is horrible at his job. We had arguably the worst offensive line in the league last year and his "upgrade" is a rookie tackle and a lateral move at center. What do the Bears plan on doing with all of the capspace they have available, is Jerry just going to stuff some more money into his mattress for a rainy day? Overall this has been an awful offseason for the Bears so far. Nothing but reclimation projects when this team should be win now. We are going to get tired of seeing Cutler getting decapitated every third play, just like last year.
  5. Rios hands down. Dunn sucks right now, and has been the biggest disappointment in baseball, but you can see that the guy at least tries. Rios is a dog at the plate, in the field, and on the bases. At this point its between Rios and Jaime Navarro for my most hated Sox player of all time. Both guys were absolute s*** on the field and couldn't care less about it.
  6. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) LOL. I actually thought of that after he said it and I laughed and I wanted to make sure, same price. Dude, when the lady said you could get two 6 inch subs and he responded with "what do you mean", I knew we had the real thing with this guy. The bottom line is -based on the conversation between him and the cook- price consideration was the last thing on his mind. Sounds like a prime candidate for the beating of the week.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) I'd swap Rios for Chone in a heartbeat I am not sure I would even though I hate Rios with the heat of 1000 suns. If people b**** about Pierre, wait until they get a load of Figgins getting 600AB a year out of the leadoff spot for the next three years. Figgins makes Pierre look like Rickey Henderson.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) Now that his name has come up, I wonder how interested the Sox would be if they could get Seattle to pick up tons of that deal? I hope not interested at all, Figgins is f***ing terrible.
  9. Platooning Dunn in order to get at-bats for DV? Seriously? We are paying the guy 14 million bucks to hit the ball, I admit he has started out slow but he has come on as of late and hit the ball a lot better. People need to stop complaining about the strikeouts too, that's what Dunn does.....strikes out, walks, and hits the ball a country mile. Its not like the guy suddenly turned into a strikeout machine this year, he has ALWAYS been a strikeout machine. When he starts hitting the ball out of the ballpark like he has always been able to the strikeouts will prove to be worth it.
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 13, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) All in all, Hawk is a piece of human garbage. I can't wait until he's gone, one way or another. Yikes. The whole thing between Hawk and Wimpy is pretty low of Hawk, but to call the guy a piece of human garbage? Did he run over your dog or something? It's one thing not to like his announcing, but that doesn't make him a bad guy.
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 10, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) I had a card since 1993... and I missed a payment for the first time in 17 years last month because I honestly straight up forgot to pay it. I got raped. What a f***ing load of s***. So, my point here is when you play with snakes, sometimes they bite. Be really careful. I would try and call the company and explain the situation. I did this around Christmas this past year (just slipped my mind that the bill was due). I noticed it about 3 days afterwards and called the company and explained that I forgot, I was a customer in good standing who had always made my payments on-time, blah, blah, blah.....and they told me too bad. I proceeded to tell them I was going to have to cancel my card because this is not how you should treat good loyal customers. They transferred me to the cancellation department, where they asked me why I wanted to cancel the card. I told them the story, and they looked at my payment history, saw that I was never late, and proceeded to reverse all the late charges and interest.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 10, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) During all Tuesday home games, starting May 10 vs. the St. Louis Cardinals, fans 21 years of age and older can purchase Bud Light or Budweiser products at specific concession stands in the Bud Light Bleachers for $3. That will end well I am sure, and a night game on top of it....LOL. A record number of lawns will be pissed on/turds in alleys in the Lakeview neighborhood tonight.
  13. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 8, 2011 -> 08:39 PM) Just because a person loves to have a stocked farm system doesn't mean they want a firesale. It's about having talent at the MLB level and and the MiLB level, so that a team can sustain success year in and year out, and not have to be stuck with huge contracts of underwhelming players to fix holes because of a lack of young talent. Really, people around here don't want a firesale? I read this board everyday, and half the posts in this forum are about how some people can't wait until this team is blown up and the rebuild begins. I wish we had a nice system, I would rather get a nice system by spending some money on the draft and hiring some better people for scouting and player development as opposed to trading good players off of the major league team for unknowns, which is what all prospects are. My point about the firesale is that just because you have one doesn't mean you are going to get anything out of it when it is all said and done. Lots of teams have traded known assets, i.e. productive veteran players, and have absolutely nothing to show for it.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) No thanks. Sounds like Beckham. I've given up on this organization ever producing position player talent. Not that I'm giving up on Beckham. But he should've been a slam dunk. Get me Ron Schueler or somebody like him. You are the first Sox fan I have ever seen pine for Ron Schueler, good grief. Propect guys would have loved Ron though, because Ron sure did LOVE his prospects. In fact he loved them so much he refused to ever part with them to upgrade the major league team, and when 85% of these guys went belly up (like most prospects do) we were left with the Scott Ruffcorns and the Mike Carusos of the world. Also, Ron pulled off the move so many are begging for around here, a firesale. He ended up with such a great return on that boondoggle, we ended up with a whole two relief pitchers for three good major league pitchers. Yup, Ron would be the guy to clean this mess up for sure.
  15. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 11:02 PM) The blown saves really demoralized this team... 100% agree, the bullpen totally destroyed all the momentum this team had to start the season. Every team is going to go through slumps hitting the ball, it happens, but this slump would be a lot easier to stomach if we had 2 or 3 of those bullpen meltdown games in our back pocket right now. Also, I think Dunn rushed back too quickly from the appendectomy and he looks horrible at the plate right now. They should have just put the guy on the 15 day DL and let him fully recover. Intead he rushed back and he has 2 hits in the last week and is killing us in the 3 hole.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 08:17 AM) Hell, add in the fact that Matt Thornton genuinely needs to work his way through whatever's going on with him, and pulling M-56 was clearly the right call. He should not be working through it in a 1-0 game. 3-0 or 4-0 game, a 1-0 game has no margin for error and you can't bring in a guy who has given up missles his past couple outings.
  17. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 08:14 AM) The logic is, and was, exactly what the poster you responded too doesn't want to hear. Whether you two want to hear it or not, it is what it is. Ozzie made up his mind that he'd not overuse Buehrle this year, as Buehrle has been running out of gas mid earlier and earlier every year as the innings pile on. Furthermore, it's been said that even in games like this one, Buehrle would be removed...where a closer *should* be able to protect a 1 run lead over an anemic Oakland offense. I would agree if it a 3-0 or 4-0 game and Buehrle was at more than 99 pitches. Mark was cruising and not even over 100 pitches, there is no reason to pull the guy when Oakland couldn't figure him out the whole game and he was on cruise control. Our "closer" doesn't look like he can protect a 10 run lead right now.
  18. QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 05:03 AM) This would have never happened if buehrle was allowed to finish the game. Buehrle was at 99 pitches and had only given up two hits in 8 innings of work. Last season buehrle threw 110 pitches or more 8 times.. in only one of those outings did he give up zero runs. In the other 7 outings of 110 pitches or more he gave up anywhere from 3-5 runs. Where is the logic? This had a complete game written all over. Please no one say guillen was ''resting''' or ''saving'' buehrle for later in the season. Buehrle has a rubber arm... one inning is not changing anything either way. Four days prior to this game ozzie guillen let jackson throw 119 pitches in 8 innings. I realize the two games before that were back to back 12 inning games... but there would have still been a fresh arm or two. My point is ozzie guillen sent jackson back out there when he was right around that 100 pitch mark... and had a 5 run lead. Jackson in no way needed to go back out there under those circumstances. Buehrle under his circumstances... 2 hits... 0 runs... 99 pitches and known for being able to throw a ton of pitches if need be? Yes, that would have made a ton more sense. Buehrle was on a rolem and the bullpen has been shaky, seemed like a no brainer to me. In no way am i second guessing. This made no sense from the start to me. I'm sure someone touched on this at some point in the game thread. Totally agree, I asked myself when they showed Thornton on the mound what the hell he was doing out there when Buehrle was at 99 pitches, what was the logic? Mark didn't look tired, he could have easily finished the game. I had a sick feeling when Thornton took the mound that we were going to lose this game. There is no logic behind it but some guys just cannot handle the closer's role and for whatever reason the 9th inning is a totally different animal, and Thornton looks mentally defeated right now. Pierre's Pods impression in the outfield isn't helping matters, but everything off of Thornton is a rocket right now. Get the guy out of there before he costs us anymore games. We could easily be 8-2 right now and every game will matter come September.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) ESPN Chicago already with a piece about sucky attendance. FYI. Nothing says a full house like a 40 degree Friday night in April against the Rays, some people just can't wait to write an piece bashing the Sox attendance.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) The analysts made a good point, 1st basemen should have been guarding the line on Span's hit Yup, terrible positioning by Barton on that play. I had to shake my head at that game, Anderson was owning the Twins ass for 7 innings and a couple weak hits and some poor defensive positioning later its 2-1 Twins, typical.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) Wait a minute, there's a role on a Major League baseball team to be bad at everything? I can fill that role. I'm cheap, too. I'll do it for $50 G's Lillibridge is a terrible hitter no doubt, but he is also a decent defensive player at multiple positions and has great speed. That is hardly bad at everything.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) Well...he might not personally hurt them that badly...but that's not a deep rotation even with him. Agreed, which is why I scratch my head anytime the Tigers are listed as contenders in this division. Verlander is awesome and Scherzer looks like a good one, but after that its all questions marks and bad. Porcello has a lot of talent but was terrible last year. Brad Penny and Phil Coke as your 4/5......good luck with that.
  23. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) Derrick Lee looks awful so far. Agreed, Lee looks horrible and the O's fans have gotten quiet about him pretty quickly. He barely played in spring training, I suspect his wrist is still bothering him.
  24. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) Brad Penny is going to get SHELLED in the AL He was getting shelled in the NL before his pixie dust run in St. Louis last year, the AL will eat him alive. Luckily for the Tigers he won't hurt them that badly because he will end up on the DL eventually, the last time he pitched 200 innings in a season was probably 4 years ago.
  25. QUOTE (cws0591 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) I like Milledge and think he is a good bat. But he was not thrown into a terrible situation where he has seldom played. the position Ozzie put him in the outfield thinking The guy was a career outfielder and could play the position adequately. He Made several terrible plays in one game. To everyone bashing Lillibridge i ask who is the better fielder? who can play more positions? who has more speed? who is the better bunter? How did Ozzie put him in a terrible position? Milledge IS a career outfielder, he is just pretty bad at it. In fact, he has never played a position other than outfield his entire career in the majors. So if he can't play OF all he can do is DH. When you have Quentin, Dunn, and Konerko on your team the last thing you need is another DH.
