  1. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Wait, that's real??? OMG. If that was CNN and they labeled a Dem a Rep, we'd never hear the end of it.
  2. Obviously the conservative press and their bias kept them for printing this story. You can bet if it was a liberal congressman, they'd have rushed it into print immediatly. If this isn't a clear confirmation of the conservative bias of the media in this country, I don't know what is. Come on all you media bashers, if Foley was a DEM, y'all would be screaming liberal bias for holding the story.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 11:19 AM) SO stating that he had a bad playoff series in 2000 is lame? Wow, I guess im just a hater. bad has to be the understatement of the century.IMHO it was his worst moment as a player.

To Ga! To Ga! Brandmeier opened for Otis at Snugfest a zillion years ago on Lake Beverly. $25 all you can eat and drink. Man, what a party. Brandmeier rocked, Otis sucked. Half the crowd was leaving during his act.
  5. With term limits comes an even greater polarization of American when the leaders are interchangeable, the parties will mean everything. It will be the parties that create and maintain the machinery necessary to hold power. The individual, and his abilities, will be secondary. The people who get people elected will be the most powerful people around, and you will have zero input in who they are. The cadidates will have to be talking heads for the party. The incumbent will never have any power beyond what the party allows. We already have term limits. Every 2 to 6 years a person is up for re-election. If the voters in that district are too stupid to figure out if the guy is doing a good job or not, isn't that a terrible indictment of the democratic process? With term limits we are telling the American public, you can't make a good decision, we'll decide how long someone can serve you.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 07:54 AM) I am an absolute believer that the law of diminishing marginal returns stands true. There becomes a point where they longer to do something, the less effective you are at it. I really believe our school board is out of touch with the community because they have been in front of mics for too long, and not in the community. Turnover is good in politics and you need not look any further than our current Congress to see that. Why doesn't that hold true for private industry? Would corporations be better if they dumped 1/3 of their employees every year?

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 07:57 AM) It's not "Spirit Of The Radio", it's "The Spirit Of Radio". ......losers...... I assumed I was wrong and Kid was right, because he's always right about music.
  8. So we throw out the good because of a small number of crooks? SS, do you think you would be a better or worse school board member on day one or day 3,0001?

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 07:25 AM) You're cool. I like you. Rush could have very possibly written 30 years of crap. But in those 30 years they wrote "Spirit Of The Radio", and for that they belong in the Hall Of Fame. IMO. I wonder what value there is in staying together for 30 years, something more commercially sucessful groups could not. LOL, I was listening to Spirit of the Radio as I was writing this. It has survived the test of time very well.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 07:10 AM) Absolute power corrupts absoultely. AKA the public is stupid and can't stop voting for a crook. Name another legal job that you actually get worse at doing instead of better with experience?
  11. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 07:16 AM) When were they tipped off? Certainly, all indications are before last Friday. Are you suggesting that newspapers held the story for a concentrated effort were they all could release the story at the same time?
  12. 2 home runs to start the A's playoff run.
  13. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) Foley needs to be locked up and have the key thrown away. Hastert and anyone else who knew about this when it was going on and did nothing because of party affiliation needs to go. Resign, like now. This is the exact sort of thing that lends credence to Democratic charges that the Republican House leadership is corrupt. I do not want people like Foley and Hastert representing the party. I don't want them (or anyone like them regardless of party) as leaders in this country. They are part of our collective leadership.
  14. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) While you're at it. All the Lobbyists in Washington need to be sent packing. Im sick and tired of groups buying influence in Washington. Even when I agree with the cause, I hate that bit of politics. I was invited to travel with a group promoting a manufacturing program that was being cut back. We got the money restored. I realized that it was a giant hand job. They pretend to cut, voters arrive and ask for help, they help restore a couple million dollar project and we go home and vote for the congressman. BTW, when term limits are discussed basically people want the other sides incumbents tossed out.

This thread has now surpassed my expectations by about 60 posts
  16. QUOTE(GaelicSoxFan @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) I'd want these traditional hymns. For the Mass, I want "How Great Thou Art", "Nearer My God To Thee", "City of God" and "On Eagles' Wings". For the graveside service, I want "Amazing Grace", "Highland Cathedral" and Largo (Going Home) from Dvorak's Symphony #9, "The New World", all played by a bagpiper. The tribute to Payne Stewert with the bagpiper walking off into the fog was one of the most beautiful moments in sport funerals. BTW, a local Scout plays the bagpipes. Waaaaaay cool.

I can't believe we could be comparing Dylan and Rush. Two very different acts.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) Wouldn't "Doing the right thing" have involved not letting it get to this point? Wasn't the FBI alerted? At that point you have to trust the American law and order system to work.
  19. Hammerin' Hank >>>>>> Bonds Bonds + steroids = more home runs than Hank. And, he'll have the record for a very long time. A-Rod has a chance, but I don't see him playing enough years.
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) Some time this month - probably around mid-month, the number of Americans will surpass 300 million. And we can thank President Bush for this historic event by keeping us safe from terrorists and promoting marriage as a union of one man and one woman.
  21. Depending on how the next 60 or 70 years treats you, maybe the flip side of bicycle race would work
  22. That's exactly what should be happening. The rank and file need to demand changes when something like this happens. Let the Dems spew all they want, do the right thing and the American public will respond favorably.
  23. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) Another One Bites The Dust I was just going to mention that in my first post. You are so predictible girl.
