QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 7, 2006 -> 07:46 AM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ God, I need to get home and have some pizza. I was thinking the same thing. It may be time for 1-800-Lou To Go

Just looking over the 2006 salaries, and this is in a humorous vein, and realizing . . . Show up the the park, don't bother bringing a glove, limber up a bit, take four or five trips to the plate, every other day hit one over the wall and trot, not run, around the bases, biggest decision, do I take a shower after the game or not? Financial results for Mr. Thome? 14 mil #1 on the team. Work once a week or so. Play 7 or 8 innings. Don't buy a bat. Have management hire another 6 or 7 guys to finish most projects you start. Financial results? 7 to 12 million and 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7th positions on the White Sox salary list. So 6 of the top 7 salary positions are one way players, 5 of the seven only play once a week or so. Now on the other hand, play everyday, lead off, steal bases, cover the field, and anything else they ask of you, Mr. Podsednick, work hard, and you can earn $2 million, good for 15th position on the team. I'm not criticizing, just having some fun.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ May 5, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) Truth be told that 38,000 of those posts are just "copy & paste" links from Yahoo! news. Congrats! Here's an interesting fact... If Mike had a penny for every post, he'd have over 40,000 pennies!

As a tourist, the best thing to do is hit either of the two vote leaders. They are the standard bearers of the art, and you will have had a Chicago style deep dish pizza. My preference is Lou's sausage, eaten with a knife and fork. Everyone will find a pie they like better, but if you can have just one, go with one of those two. LMAO, I knew this had to be pizza by the title.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2006 -> 05:43 PM) Apparently Law and Order is just a TV show anymore. Throw open our borders, give away our resources, and who cares anymore. The more the merrier. I guess having control over your country and the people in it is overrated anyways. Chaos and anarchy for everyone. Close the borders! Close the borders! Military Rule! Curfews! 100% Drug Tests! Work or Starve! No Social Programs! Citizenship checkpoints in every city! this is fun

Arizona proposing illegal immigrant crackdown.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 2, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Some of the designs Ive seen for a border wall you'd need a lot more than a ladder. Don't forget to mine the harbors in California and Texas in case they try and sneak in via boats, like the Cubans. -

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 2, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Some of the designs Ive seen for a border wall you'd need a lot more than a ladder. What if we built a moat, a river, Let's call it the Rio Grande River and see how that does. -
QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) But they WERE different. The Greeks didn't demand drivers tests and governmebt services in Greek. Itialian immigrants urged, in some cases demanded, thier kids be Americans, learn English and to take advantage of why they were there. You didn;t have a Chinese version of Telemundo. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your cultural heritage, but if you want to be part of the American dream, and be an American citizen, how about fitting in a little bit? If a business wishes to gain market share by speaking Spanish, Italian, Polish, or whatever, isn't that free enterprises and competition? With all the Mexican tourists down here, a store would die in a week if they didn't speak Spanish. Most of the government accomodations have come as a result of our government offering better and better service to anyone in this country. It attracts tourism for one, knowing you can have a nice vacation in America and get through our regulations. So if our government can be *more* efficient by offering a form in another language, instead of having a clerk explain something for the 20th time, or having everyone walking in have a person to assist them, isn't that better? Why can't we offer the finest in customer service from the greatest country on the planet?

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ May 2, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) Tex, I believe this to be true, ONLY if the immigrants coming to our country truely want to be a prt of this country. There are too many hyphens around nowadays and not enough 'American'. Immigrants in the past were happy and thankful to be here, and usually did thier best to become an American, not to be a Mexican living in America. Greek Town, China Town, Little Italy I'm not so certain immigrants in the past were much different.

Patriotism among immigrants!! OMG!! That has to end Even funnier, imagine if during the Anthem they stood and started screaming, yelling, whistling, pounding their feet, clapping, etc.
-
I've done both and it really depends on your situation. When I was in a position where I had to, by terms of my car allowance, trade every three years, I leased. I was swapping dollars. I know the cars I bought, and cared for, cost me less per mile than the ones I leased.

BTW, the transformation is complete, I have totally forgotten the previous screen name for Rex Kickass I do remember Fanof14

QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 2, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) You all are looking for a problem here when there isn't one. Imagine that. He was charged for "doctor shopping". If one obtains a presecription from another doctor for the same medication in 30 days, whether it's 1 pill, 40 pills, or 2,000 pills, the law states you can't do it. Period. That was the charge he pled 'not guilty' to. Can we stop this now? /waiting for the 8,000 links that tell me I'm wrong. I don't think anyone was looking for a problem, at least I wasn't. The guy is human. I just think people that rush to the extreme to spin this look silly and dishonest. BTW, has anyone ever seen Hannity and YASNY at the same time?

Arizona proposing illegal immigrant crackdown.
Texsox replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
Let's all live behind tall walls, let's place speed bumps on our highways, let's arrest drunks in bars, let's stop selling spray paint until the person has a background check, let's drug test everyone when they apply for a driver's license. There are so many crimes we can stop with a some expense and loss of our liberties. And someone please total up the damages that illegals have caused. The terrorist acts that this would solve, the cost to governments that having illegals instead of legals performing, the costs to our society. Then look at the possibilities in changes to our laws to match up people who need jobs with people who need them. Let's not swat mosquitoes with scud missles. -
:headshake too bad we couldn't just release him from prison.

I really don't care. It isn't that big a deal. So as to not prolong this thread I will agree; The rehab, the plea agreement, was all Rush trying to get this over quickly. He is a VICTIM of a politically motivated attack. He's not guilty of anything. He only had an extra 40 pills.
-
Let's hear it for a National Telecast, no mlb.tv for me. This happens about 6 times during the regular season. We rained out about half of the ESPN games last year.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 2, 2006 -> 09:10 AM) BTW, the '40 pills' number came from the DA's office itself. That's interesting, isn't it? That was what they agreed to. If that was all Rush thought the DA had, and he was not guilty, do you think he would have settled? Remember this was all negotiated, and I would hope the goal was to aid the individual in seeking help and keeping off the drugs.
