GM to close several North America plants
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) Funny how he could call that so well. Of course his solution of making them pay higher corporate taxes would just open the door a little wider for them to leave. What's that about a blind dog finding an acorn once in a while? It is a very tough issue. What good is manufacturing something in the US that costs more and people won't buy it?

Congressman Murtha Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) HUH? :rolly Im the king of the Bush Backers and who have I attacked recently over comments about Bush? Instead of SS posting what Bush said over the weekend, he posted that no one had posted what Bus said over the weekend. Attacking the lack of posts, would be a better phrase now that I think about it.

Camden, NJ - most dangerous US city.
I was also thinking about the GOP being the tough on crime, law and order, capitol punishment, etc.

GM to close several North America plants
I remember listening to Jesse Jackson when he was running for President a couple decades ago say (paraphrasing) the threat to American workers is not foreign companies competing here, it is American companies moving their jobs to foreign countries. This was during the foreign car invasion and other "threats" to our workers. It proved to be a very true statement.

GM to close several North America plants
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) They are closing a plant in Ontario. Oh wait, you said overseas. This will affect their suppliers as well. The ripple is as scary as the main plant. Everyone in the area is effected. Suppliers, trucking firms, the local restaurant, the bank, the hardware store, and it goes on and on and on Likewise, when they ramp up elsewhere, the ripple is even greater. Add new housing starts and everything moving to the new town. That is why we have many economic development agencies all over here trying to attract (re:steal) businesses from other areas and move them here or to Reynosa, Tamps. Mexico.

Then why are some cities safer than others? I always thought better economics = safer city better economics = GOP voting I was surprised to see the list didn't reflect that.

Eating well
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) Where'd ya all go for camping? Just around you locally? Yes, we had a few expensive trips the last few months and scaled back. The boys do an annual calendar and one of the requirements is for them to stay within a budget. Of course this was also one of the lightly attended events. Fortunately the weather cooperated. Small drizzles during the day a nice rain at night. Cool temperatures. January we are going spelunking and rappelling. One cave has a squeeze that I may not fit through, and I'm not so certain I want to. Something about getting stuck deep underground leaves me a little uncertain. Rappelling inside a cave sounds cool though.

Al-Zarqawi MAY have been killed
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) Wow. That's a pretty agnostic statement. I'm guessing Jesus kicks the crap out of the guy

Al-Zarqawi MAY have been killed
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) LOL, Martyrdom is based upon the media portrayal of your death in your society. We will never know how Allah determines who are martyrs, but we do know how the crazies will view it, and how they will react. Why worry about the afterlife, when here and now is much more relevant?

By state, Kerry won 8 of the 10. I guess when you feel safe, you can vote Democrat.

Eating well
My boys are really learning to cook. I challenged my Scouts to improve their cooking and menu planning this weekend. The results was me gaining some weight. Breakfast Saturday was easy donuts. They deep fried the dough in a dutch oven and tossed them in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar. Lunch was a beef soup. It could have used some noodles, but it was still very good. A friend of mine had his Troop at the same camp so we combined dinners for a feast of sorts. My guys made a beef roast with carrots, potatoes, and jalapenos. They also made a chicken and stuffing dish. My top cook added the "trinity" of celery, onions, and peppers to the chicken dish and tossed in some mushroom soup. It turned out perfect. For dessert they made a cherry cobbler. The next breakfast for suppose to be blueberry muffins, but they forgot we don't have muffin tins so they made one giant muffin and started calling it Smurf Cake. I love it when they actually learn some things. One kid was making his first campout and was so excited all weekend.

Congressman Murtha Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:13 AM) In my case it just means I see there is no point in talking about it with some people on here. I used to think Juggernaut was insane when he pointed to bias in the way that some people handled subjects and posters... Now I wonder. I just think it is better to post the current statements and comment on that. It seemed to be a slow weekend and I'm guessing no one had a chance to post Bush's current quotes. It would be like one of the Liberals around here posting that no one posted that the GOP controlled House voted themselves a pay raise while cutting food stamps.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:37 AM) But is blowing yourself up to avoid surrender considered a suicide bombing? By the time his followers hear about it, it wasn't to avoid surrender, they trapped the infidels and blew the enemy up. Then the American press slandered the memory of a great martyr. In other words, it just doesn't matter how he really died. The war continues and in his "honor" a dozen more young men sign up :headshake- Congressman Murtha Calls for Immediate Withdrawal
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:39 AM) The irony is that there are about 50 posts here and in other threads condeming the "viscinoussness" of the White House on Rep. Murtha. When the tone changes, and something good is said, *crickets*. It definitely says that with the notable exception of Rex Kickass talking about Isreali progress, how quick to point out all the faults of the current administration is, but when something is done to try to bridge the "hostility", it's not recognized. So go chew on your pretzel. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:41 AM) There isn't much point to posting anything that isn't anti-Bush on here anymore. Notice no green. I honestly was gone all weekend from any news sources, but is it better for the debate to post what Bush is saying, or to post what other posters are not saying? It appears that Bush Backers are now resorting to attacking the other posters and not defending Bush. That is sadder to me than Bush Bashers not posting his latest remarks.- GM to close several North America plants
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:40 AM) Some plant closings... -OK City by early 06 -Lansing by mid 06 -Spring Hill TN by end of 06 -Doraville GA in 08 Shifts are being cut at a couple of other plants... Are they cutting any over seas plants? Are they cutting back any outsourcing?- Al-Zarqawi MAY have been killed
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:30 AM) It could be reported that he was wearing a dress and a curly wig hosting a martyr for his dolls... that wasn't my question though. Then yes, suicide bombing is a way to martyrdom, but you knew that.- GM to close several North America plants
Could be good for the border area. Plus better jobs in Mexico keeps more Mexican workers home and the border region safer. As soon as Mexico's economy is so strong that they do not need to risk their lives for jobs up north, then only terrorists will be crossing the border illegally.- But it's a deterent . . .

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 07:16 AM) It amazes me the tone when people are challenged around here. The patronization is amazing. It's kind of like our president. LOL, you are still amazed? That's wonderful to be so childishly amazed. I kid because I care I just thought it was funny that SS didn't post a link to Bush's statements. That seemed more important than pointing out that no one else did. But nice call, here's a pretzle, chew carefully. - Catch-All Anything Thread
