Sox ad in Friday's Sun-Times
QUOTE(sin city sox fan @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) Anyone able to scan this? I'd love to see what this refers to (as would other out-of-towners I'm sure). ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Same here.

The Call From Ryno Perspective
Actually when I list all the really great athletes that have graced Chicago sports and how most of them have been 1st class individuals, I always mention Sandburg, along with Payton, Magnuson, Makita, Jordan, Fisk, Banks, etc. No TO, Moss, Irvin, Williams in that group.

The Call From Ryno Perspective
QUOTE(S720 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) But Texsox, in 1960 Sandberg was not even 1 year old yet! He was borned on September 18, 1959. Can we open our precious welcome door a little bit to sneek Ryno in? And remember, he joined Yahoo as a columnist very recently. Here's my plan I will accept this former Cub as genuine, if another former Cub organization player, Mr. Jon Garland, gets a quality start tonight.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(BDavisFutureHOF @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) I suppose this is true but I haven't been burned as of yet -- knock on wood. How effective do you find the ratings? The rating are easily manipulated. The usual scam is to sell a bunch of cheap stuff to friends, then scam on expensive stuff. I have over 200 transactions both as a buyer and seller on ebay, have never lost a dime. Had two deals that didn't go smooth. One resulted in mutual negative feedback given. I wish I had the opportunity to take it back. In fairness, many of those have been Boy Scout memorabilia, and presumably I am dealing with fellow Scouters who presumably would be honest.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) I honestly dont want to read another article about the call ever again. I want to read the "Angels Denied World Series Trip With Game 2 Call" article.

Go-Go White Sox
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Well, considering I have The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Benny Goodman, The Boswell Sisters, and Glenn Miller for my listening pleasure as I type this, I guess it makes sense to me why the song doesn't bother me.

Ultimate Rally Song
With all do respect to Go Go White Sox, nothing compares to Steam's Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye. I have so many great memories of the late 70s and singing with Nancy. Didn't even mind occassionaly spilling a beer (never my own) while screaming the lyrics.

Go-Go White Sox
QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Oh, look at the King Of Padding talking!!! What he puts into his manziere is his business. alt punch line What he puts into his bro is his business.

Go-Go White Sox
I'm with Critic, the song sucks so bad I can only listen to it 10-12 times a day. Na Na Na Na, Hey, Hey, Hey I can listen to that all the time. Someone at a local radio station must be a Sox fan or at least from CHicago, he mentioned playing it for all the Sox fans wishing they were at Sox Park.

The Call From Ryno Perspective
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Ah yes, Texsox the media relations specialist. So when is Hug a Columnist Day? We only hug those columnists that pick the Sox every year since 1960. All the others are either bandwagon jumpers for finally picking us, or idiots for picking anyone else.

Who is Pitching Tonight?
The second half has done a lot to temper my enthusiasm for Jon pitching under pressure, in front of his "ancestral home town".
-
Who is Pitching Tonight?
Lots of reasons to believe either Garland can show up. Lots of rest, maybe too much. Opening game in LA. "The call" atmosphere. 18-10 career year.

Cora dodged a bullet
First of all a major league player, especially an outfielder better be in good enough shape to sprint the bases, so I have a hard time accepting he was tired when he reached third. I'd be interested in seeing if Cora looked at the left fielder's position before sending him. With it being an out, it's easier to say it was the wrong call. I'm guessing the bigger mistake was not seeing the left fielder being in position to quickly pick up the ball and make the throw.

The Rally Crede
I was reading in Jinxed that Konerko's mom in 2002 bought him a Rally Monkey. It worked for him for a while, but alas, he was soon in a slump. His dad destroyed the monkey and Kong went on a run and batted .4-something the rest of the month. Fun book to read at Barnes and Noble, but I wouldn't invest money in it. Took me like 5 minutes to finish.

The Call From Ryno Perspective
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 07:54 AM) Actually, Tex, Ryno picked the Sox for the Central since the beginning of the season, then he picked them against BOS. He's been money on them all year. Kind of a shock, isn't it? And the trifecta is he picked us in the ALCS. Wow, he jumped on the bandwagon early I'm kidding with the above posts. I'm just noticing how quickly we divide the idiots, the bandwagon jumpers, and the brilliant sports writers and commentators. There are no other categories and as soon as there is a positive article somewhere, like a bunch of lemmings, we rush over and take a look. People have opinions, there are intelligent opinions that picked the Angels. That thought the call was wrong, etc.

The Call From Ryno Perspective
QUOTE(S720 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 07:46 AM) Texsox, I disagree with you COMPLETELY. So what you're implying is if a non-Sox fan says something positive about the Sox, then he or she is a bandwagon jumper! That is such a fallacy! How do you know Ryno's mind? How do you know that he didn't think that was a BAD call at all? So if he sticks up to something he believes is right, and it just happens that that something is to the advantage of the Sox, you call him a "bandwagon jumper." I am totally surprised that this is coming from you. I have come to agree with the majority of posters. Any media person who doesn't pick the Sox and love all Sox things is an idiot just like moronatti. Anyone who just now starts to give the Sox some respect is a bandwagon jumper. ESPN only loves the Red Sox and Yankees. The Cubune sucks. BBTN are all idiots, unless picking the Sox. Sports Center are all idiots, unless picking the Sox. etc. etc.

Anthony John Pierzynski
I think to protect his knees, we need to move him to left field. The catchers are always my favorite on the team. AJ would be a good investment. It pays off both in offense, defense, and pitching. I'd also like to see Josh Paul return to Chicago on the Cubs

I have long stopped eating plain chips with the one exception of Cape Cod. I also like the salt and vinager. The jalapeno flavored are awesome.
