I was going to thread jack a bit, but decided this would be so disturbing to some purists, it needed it's own thread. What's your favorite mixed drink with beer as an ingredient? I know most purists will shudder at the thought of mixing a beer with anything else, but I have to admit one guilty pleasure, the Michilada. The Michilada, as mixed along the border consists of Rose's Lime Juice, sometimes a dash of this or that (Secret of the bar tendress) a salted rim, over ice. A close drink is a beer-a-rita. It is also sometimes make with Bloody Mary mix.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) Hey! THe kid wasn't seriously hurt, so where is the harm??? It's one of those crazy family stories they'll be telling at the Christmas table for years

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) My wife loves Jars. Their only problem is that for a bit there they were getting very repetitive. I haven't heard them for a bit, but man, during the "Flood" time, they rewrote variations on that song on every album. Yes, but, of course, their fans forgave them

Nothing like a beer thread to get everyone going.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) American superband, huh? Not neccessarily rock? How about Alabama? 40+ Number one singles! Just saying. Where is Led Zeppelin from? QUOTE(Spiff @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) Zep is from England. QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Thank you. I didn't think they were from the US, but was unsure. I am feeling sooooooooooooooooo old right now. Bonus: Jars of Clay Flood is one of my favorite songs of all-time, all genres. I say them in concert at the Rosemont Theater about 7 or 8 years ago. Just awesome.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 08:07 AM) I helped set up a show for REO a few years back, and they were some of the nicest guys you could ever deal with. I wasn't nearly as big of a fan of them before I met them. I sure can't say that for all of the groups we help set up, there were some really assholes. Some of them were really surprising to me. They are always my pick for most under rated band of all time. In between the TOP 40, sells a lot of record, hits and some good, well crafted, tunes. I also appreciate there lack of drama, angst, break ups to make ups, etc. Ridin' the Storm Out, played really, really, loud, with the windows down and some good buddies is almost spiritual. A personal fave

I don't see anyone player tipping the scales in our favor in a series with Boston, NY, Angels, or even, andthis would be cool, the Cards. So I'm not too worried either direction.

I've decided that the most underratd lead singer in rock and roll history is Gary Puckett. Damn, that guy could sing. Cheap Trick had a great, but short, run. Loved more in Japan than Jersey.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) That happened once at a little league baseball game in Illinois when I was 15. It was partly cloudy and the nearest rain or storm was 20 or so miles away and some kid batting at the game got struck by lightning. I remember Carol Marin telling me all about it... Carol Marin

I can't believe 42 replies and y'all missed one of the largest selling bands of all time. REO Speedwagon If you are judging by hit after hit, there has to be some love for Cronin and the boys. 30+ years with hits spanning the 70, 80, 90, 2000. I'd also toss in there the Fleetwood Mac, Eagles (Greatest Hits All-Time #1 Selling Album), Aerosmith, Van Halen, Pearl Jam, and Journey. What has America contributed to the history of rock and roll? The ability to create sales and make the cash register ring. Forget Indie, forget complex, forget meaning, look at what American music does best, gets people to open their wallets and pluck down cold hard cash. If we start talkin' quality and other "artistic values" you would have to add The Ramones and Velvet Undergroud to the discussion.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) We sure stunk big time tonight, at least in the sixth inning, but I'll take a 10-1 record against KC anyday. I can't argue with giving some guys the night off again. KC truly is a Triple A team. It is not a major league team so you figure you could beat 'em without Rowand, Iguchi and Joe, especially with Mark on the mound. Oh well, it's one game outta many and we are 10-1 against KC. Tough to not play your best lineup for your best pitcher who is in the thick of a Cy Young worthy season.

Glad to see some posters can read and understand. Historical perspective here. Poster thinks Konerko sucks and points to a player with better stats making less. Poster thinks Maggs sucks and points to a player with better stats making less. And it's always get rid of this guy and fill holes. KW's job is to figure out who to be the high bidder for. Too many keyboard GMs just look at current contracts and can put together the "All-Underpaid" Club. Go spend $80,000,000 on players for 2008 and tell be who you would take, and who would take your offer.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) NYC is 3 times the size of Chicago. Anaheim is in LA like South Bend is in Chicago. Plus both LA and NYC have metro areas that are way larger than Chicago. Chicago is the smallest multiteam city in MLB. The Cubs are #6. Better team? Beter stadium? Better transportation? Better fans? The geographic split in LA is similar to Chicago. One side travels to the Angels, the other to the Dodgers. Still close enough. The Dodgers do have a built in advanatage. You still can't argue with his point about attendance at both parks. But shame on him for saying it? -

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) If the Sox were the only team in Chicago, we'd draw as well as St Louis does. and if ifs were skiffs, we'd have a Navy. The fact is, there are two teams, we are at the mlb average in attendance. There are two teams in NY and the Yankees are #1 and the Mets are #6. There are two teams in LA and the Dodgers and Angels are #3 and #4. Bay Area? Giants #5, Oakland #24 There are two teams in Chicago and the Cubs are #8 and the Sox are #16 That's total attendance, ranking the averages are about the same. Of the eight teams, who has the best record? Who has the best park? -
