  1. Before I pass judgement on this poor guy, was it the playoffs?

Now that someone noticed, it's only been a couple weeks, and y'all can't ban me anymore, I'd like to say what I really think of y'all . . . yusguys (midwest alt. to y'all) rock. Thanks for all the hard work and keeping Soxtalk 100% Troll free and the board ungaged.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) I had them demoted... Baaahaaaahaaaahaaaaa..... Trust me, to some, this is very, very funny.
  4. Actually I figured the GOPernauts were upset that he did any pro-bono work. He worked for free?? :headshake
  5. I have always seen that song as a lesson in how differently even family members view the same event. I imagine that the girl and Billy Joe were in love and he committed suicide. While the rest of the family barely noticed, she was in pain and mourned him a year later. In a turnabout, she views the death of her father and her mom's lack of coping the same way they treated her boyfriend's suicide. Kind of a "Cat's in the Cradle" lesson. I've always wondered what Shook Me All Night Long was about.

  7. Hey Kap and Southsider :fyou Isn't it about time y'all got back to work?
  8. Must really get him excited to know he's worth a 4th round pick BTW, hockey would be a better sport if they eliminated fighting and you had to actually lay a decent check on someone to retaliate.
  9. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 07:37 AM) Have that many people seen Bad Santa? Or is it that the collest kid in school saw it, started using the word, and now everybody does? I think Jim was the collest since I was already the coolest . . .
  10. Take me out to the Ballgame with my White Sox wallpaper
  11. "Write?" I print out many checks each month, sign them, and mail them or hand them to employees. Some of my payroll is delivered in cash to help those employees who have decided that a checking account is far too advanced for them. I use checks when I have employees picking stuff up at stores, easier than giving them my debit card and tracking them down to get it back. I use checks at one large supplier to take advantage of some float. I know he only deposits twice a week. I keep some interest money for a few more days. In those far away and long ago days in college, I wrote checks hoping for a couple days float before my paycheck appeared. And I know everyone here has at least once or twice when they were uncertain of their balance, and didn't want to have the card denied.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) This site makes me rich. I guess we have to train the N00b. That should be in green.
  13. Go back 15 years and add up all the World Series participants from the AL East and NL East. Duh, there is an East Coast bias, because that's where the champions come from. For most of the country, the baseball season will not start for another 5 or 6 weeks. They tune in for the final pennant races and the playoffs.
  14. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) It's funny how I could say the sky was blue and I would still get a hard time from some of you clowns. You would say it at night
  15. The Yankees will try anything. I still think he needs a trip to a NL contender.
  16. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) Never be surprised by Flaxx or Tex knowing something! Tex, I bet I could give your story a run for it's money a bit. :headshake I was the biggest jerk in the world. While she was planning a romantic 3 year anniversary weekend for us, I was planning on breaking up with her and had already lined up a date with this really hot girl from one of my classes. We wound up going out for 2 years, 11 months, 3 weeks, and 5 days. The only redeeming value, the only shred of decency or karma, is I married the woman I dumped her for. To this day I cannot believe that was me being so mean an insensitive. Of course back then I was in the Young Republicans, I guess they rubbed off on me.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) Im going to ask him to move in with us. Im sure he wouldnt mind. "Hey Gooch, get me a beer while you are in the kitchen" From the interview with Tadahito thread and him living and commuting from Schaumburg.

QUOTE(jamslam @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) Well thanks for all the work,it's a nice forum You are welcome BTW, your avatar comes close to violating our "our moms may log in here and we don't want to be embarassed " policy.
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) I don't know...many songs make me nostalgic for "home" when I was a kid. "Feeling Stronger Everyday" - Chicago "With a Little Luck" - Wings Many more, but those four REALLY make me think of life in my parents house and being a kid. Both make me think of home, but With a Little Luck was Senior Year, sitting in the Senior Lounge, playing 7 card stud and hiding the money from the teachers. It also reminds me of the girl I was dating at the time and who has the best, my boyfriend was the biggest asshole when we broke up story. To this day, I cannot believe what a no good, jerk I was to that girl. But I still like the song.
  20. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) I don't mind Federal money going to the Interstate system. It's needed. I have a problem with Federal money going to "Construction of County Road 17" in Elkhart, Indiana. http://www.taxpayer.net/Transportation/hr3database/INF.pdf But isn't the federal money coming from people who will travel down County Road 17? Perhaps that's a bad example, but it's our money, I'm not as hung up on which group of crooks, errrrrr elected representives, chooses what to build as I am them choosing good, worthy projects. I'm not certain that state cronies would be much better than national cronies.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Well one day the name Soxtalk.com sounded like a good idea...the rest is history and I've been kicking myself in the ass ever since. I try blowing up the server thinking you all would get the hint, but no, instead more people just show up Just wait, one day you'll see a banner with a bunch of ivy in it In all serious, I'll throw a little history in here. I was visiting WSI one day and saw a post by this weird guy named RIO (from the ESPN boards as well) and it said he was starting a website. I almost never went on the internet back than but found it interesting and shot him an email. Ended up starting SoxNet.net and I helped him out with it. We had a message board there but eventually came up with the idea of starting a seperate board and came up with the name Soxtalk.com We'd kind of split market them, posting articles here and on SoxNet and than eventually getting FutureSox.com involved. SoxNet closed a little more than 2 years ago but Soxtalk has continued to grow and grow and the site never ceases to amaze me (and thats a good thing...most of the time). Its been a cool ride and it takes up way too much of not only my time, but everyone's time. We could of cured some major disease with all the time everyone here has put into Soxtalk. Begging for props is just so uncool. Actually,
  22. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) Just found a splinter of wood in my sammich. Scared the hell outta me because I thought I broke another bracker. It still sucks because I made my sammich and I damn well know I didn't put that there. That's called a toothpick, people use it to keep the two halves of the sammich together. Sheez, what planet did she drop in from?
  23. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) As a matter of fact, I might go out in our parking lot and watch Air Force One land. you are such a geek Truth be told: Living in Chicago during yet another Presidential visit = pissed, highways tied up. Living in McAllen during President Clinton visit = drive by airport to see Air Force 1 Kap, which Texan are we going to make President in '08? I'm thinking the Hammer.
