Congrats Soxy!! Soxy, I assume this is limited to English speaking or will you expand to other languages? How are you controlling for each individual's English mastery? How are you controlling the pronunciations? Will the test be taped and played back? What ages are you testing? If the pronunciation has, for example, a midwest accent, and the participant is from the Bronx, how do you think that may affect the results? The topic is fascinating, controlling the experiment seems like a Herculean task.

I was just looking through a thread and one of our posters had a signature with a woman holding a snake and I have to say, if some woman came into the bedroom naked, holding a snake, I'd run out of that room so damn fast. If I am reading some of the pro Ozzie comments correctly, you would speak to your best friend and the rest of the world the same way, and everyone should just know how the remark was intended :headshake Ozzie is the most visible face of the organization the most often quoted individual. When he is perceived by the general public as dissing gays, that's bad. He didn't say, there's a really great guy. Or there's a fine family man, he clearly was making fun of the guy by calling him gay and/or a child molester. We can expand out from there that Ozzie obviously must think gay is not a good thing because he was making fun of him. Duh, it's an insult. Kids, feel free to insult anyone and everyone you come into contact with in life. Make the world adjust to you. f*** those people that can't take a joke. You'll do just fine in the job market.

Griffey should be looking to an AL team to finish his career as a DH. But most athletes, especially someone as gifted as him, think they can play forever. I have mixed feelings. I do not see Griffey and Frank sitting next to each other. I believe Griffey = no Frank. Sentiment over performance. The team will not keep both. Not enough spots in the lineup unless JR can convince the owners to allow a DH for the thrid baseman

Off the record means a source will give you information and tell you it cannot be attributed to him directly and is "off the record". Ozzie did not do that. It was a remark made in public in front of a bunch of reporters. Ozzies an idiot for thinking he wouldn't be quoted. People are quoted all the time in situations that are not formal press conferences. It doesn't matter if the person the remark is made to isn't offended, if the other people in attendance are, and the public in general could be, the Manager of the White Sox should show some public relations skills and avoid that. The entire organization should be building the fan base, not doing things to alienate a portion of it.

My feeling is they found a way to win, with the top of the order slumping and Ozzie trying to find some magic. Any team in baseball can win when they got 6 or 7 guys playing well. The Sox are winning with only a couple guys hitting right now.
