QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Well... stupid is as stupid does. That boy is a french fry short of a happy meal.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Great idea. A standing "O" for Jermaine would say it all. And be pretty damn classy.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) Not the case for all as money doesn't grow on tree's... but I'll bet dollars to donuts some people believe it does.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) Off to see the wizard? Heading to the rock pile, another day, another dollar. I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) I wish Paul would get a toothache and his mouth would swell shut. On one hand we dislike players who avoid the media and never give interviews. We love the guys like Barkley who will answer any question. On the other hand, I shake my head that Paul would have answered that. He should have broken out a tired cliche like "he's just another player on another team".

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:13 AM) A Shingo deal makes sense sadly. Ozzie refuses to use the guy for long periods of time, and he is essentially a waste of a roster spot right now. We might as well get something for him. I am holding out hope for some kind of a deal to get Alex Cintron, but I doubt that will happen. The bullpen isn't Ozzies strong suit. I'm ambivalent on how he has used and is using Shingo. I'm wondering what his trade value actually is. Potential is always sexy and a siren song to GMs. With the midas touch that Kenny has wielded the past year, he may come away with a bigger fish than we think.

If I was a NL team, I'd want the guy. His first trip through the NL would probably be lights out.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:55 AM) But if your not the lead dog, the view is always the same. No one ever pounded on the counter and demanded to see the Assistant Manager I'd like to stay and play, but I'm off like a prom dress.

I think Garth Brooks summed it up for me I believe Maggs was the best Sox player the past 5 years, was sad to see him go. As it worked out however, we are so lucky he turned down the last Sox offer.

QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) Mark Buerhle or Royce Clayton Usually pitchers are not considered in "best player". Especially in the AL when they do not bat or play everyday. Throwing pitchers into the mix and yes, Buerhle has been the best at his position during the Kong Years.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:39 AM) Hey! If you can't run with big dogs, stay on the porch. Yeah but every dog has his day

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) As a long term Sox fan, I can certainly understand CubKilla's point of view. I was not quite 2 years old the last time the Sox were seen in the World Series, so it's been a long hard row to hoe. That kind of disappointment, year after year, can lead to someone being slighty jaded. However, being a fan, I always look for and hope for the best every spring. I hope that one of these years all the pieces will fall into place. I hope a midseason acquisition will be the final ingredient that makes the team gel, ala Julio Cruz in '83. Basically, I think I just like drinking the Kool-Aid every spring and won't spit it out until all hope is gone. Well, I was -2 the last time the Sox were in the World Series. I now take the opposite track. I look for all the reasons they will finish 6th in a 5 team division. I am always pleasantly surprised. I don't think anyone could have predicted this. Our division record is nothing short of amazing. IIRC we have more loses to the A's than our entire division.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) Never look a gift horse in the mouth. and that's straight from the horse's mouth. I figured a Kentuckian would get around to the horses.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:30 AM) I do have a Pavilion computer, which is why the error was pissing me off. It kept me from getting to the options you just mentioned. The motherboard has been changed from the original computer, so that may be the problem. That is the problem. The recovery disk is tied to the BIOS on the original motherboard. The motherboard *is* considered the computer, not the case, drives, etc. This prevents software piracy.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:30 AM) I don't think we'd have a problem with it .... IF they entered the country legally. But don't they look like terrorists? Wouldn't they be taking our jobs? Would we allow an unlimited number? Offer them public aid? Is public aid any different than what we are giving now in terms of food, water, and military help?

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) So many jokes, so little time. Save them for next time you get locked in your apartment . . . BTW, seriously, and at the risk of sounding stupid, and hopefully not offending, but are the Cubs any more popular in the gay community than any other team?

I was thinking about all the US servicement killed and the billions of dollars we are spending and wondering while we invest all this, we probably wouldn't let any Iraqi's here if they wanted to help themselves by picking our crops, building out homes, cutting our grass, etc. Seems we like our poor, huddled masses, yearning to be free, far, far away.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:17 AM) Beat me to the punch, Tex. The punch sucks, have a tequila. Oops better not, the FBI may think you are a Mexican sympathizer.

Frank hasn't played the field much and Piazza is a toss up. I can't really disagree with that statement. I'm trying to think of who else he would have picked. CLee? Jose Valentin? I'm assuming pitchers were not considered.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:01 AM) Just because he blog isn't in green, doesn't mean it can't be a joke. Confession, so many times in emails and other communications I look for the green and realize, s***, it ain't Soxtalk. I like her. I shared a few emails a while back and she's funny as hell. If she was a Sox fan we'd be lining up at her koolaid stand.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 06:52 AM) I was waiting for a ruling on that, I'm not sure if anything with the word Arby's can be used as a cliche. Arby a judge on that. Ruling is: Play on
