  1. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) You can almost see the disappointment in the media that Bush nominated this guy. They wanted someone who was gonna cause a brawl and they didn't get it. Could you imagine how much material Rush would have had with a good fight. You are absolutely right. His rating would have gone even higher, I'll bet he and Hannity, Savage, Ingram, and all the many others are crying in their martinis..

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) Yikes Tex.. that was "cold as ice.. " QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) Skating away on the the thin ice of a new day. Hey, I'm busier than a pig on ice and would like to Tull you something elso Jethro. Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) There are some people out there who would b**** if Bush nominated Hillary Clinton to the bench screaming about how she was too conservative. :rolly And if Clinton nominated Roberts, he would have been portrayed as too liberal. It's all the same stuff. I expected and applaud Bush for nominating someone who is a conservative. That is his right as President, and that is how our system works. I will also applaud the Dems for working hard to assure there are no skeletons in the closet. This person is appointed for life and our system works when both sides take their responsibilities seriously and give 100%.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice Yeah, that's right...I said it. Back when this was the official hangout for Eminem fan boys, you would have been skating on thin ice.
  5. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) I don't think they'll have a leg to stand on if they try to oppose him. Oh sure they'll grill him with questions and rightfully so but this is not going to be a tough fight IMHO. If you consider all courts as equal, I guess one could just rubber stamp every judge that's on the bench. The Supreme Court Judges must be held to a higher standard than even the next lowest judgeship. There are no backups, no more appeals. From what I've read so far, they (Bush and Co.) picked someone without much of a paper trail to pick over. How sad is that when experience and opinions would be a detriment? I blame both parties for that environment.
  6. Sorry pards, we ain't got no low horses here in Texas . . .
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) I completely disagree with this. Overall their lineups are better then the Sox but our pitching staff blows both of their's out of the water. We'll see how Randy "1st Ballot HoF" Johnson is pitching come October. I would like to believe ours will "blow theirs out of the water" but there are some very good pitchers on their staffs who know the regular season is just meant to get to the dance, not a goal in itself. Think about Johnson - Mussina at Yankee Stadium and tell me Buerhle - Garland would "blow them out of the water". More accuratly we are talking edge or slight edge. Giambi v. Konerko Cano v. Jeter v. Uribe A-Rod v. Crede Matsui - Williams - Sheffield vs. Dye - Rowand - Pods Currently the Yankees have more .300 than any other starting lineup. They are still very potent and getting better. Johnson sucks this season and he's 10-6.
  8. Nice, getting Wrigley involved. I like that. The only problem is it won't spread nationally, only around Chicago.

Some localized flooding. Nothing too major. That will probably begin shanging overthe next 24-48 hours as irrigations ditches and storm systems fill. The cotton guys are singing the blues. The crops are ready and if they didn't get them in, they will be unable to harvest for days or weeks, by then it could be too late. Citrus and our salad crops are happy.

very localized power outages, nothing more than what would happen during a thunderstorm. No touchdowns. Basically we are escaping basically unscathed. So far. Knock on wood.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) They didn't suck yesterday. We did. Sometimes it is better to give than receive . . .
  12. At the time we were moving to the new place, I thought A. It was going to be a *great* ball park. B. It was going to help drag fans from Wrigley. C. Better views, with no more poles. See how wrong a person can be I didn't shed a tear until I was in the "New Cominsky Park"
  13. Just call me Cliff Politte for that set up

QUOTE(OilCan @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Just a little rain, about an inch last night in quiet ol' Luling too. It's just cloudy and a little dark outside here at work in SA, but not much else. How are you doing today Texsox? Tornado warning, bunch of rain, very windy.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) My sentiments exactly. The all time greats, not the all time very goods. Raffy WILL make the Hall, no doubt. In my mind there is also no doubt that he'll be skipped over on the first ballot. I've never understood the whole 1st ballot thing. Does the player suddenly get better the next year? Either he's Hall worthy or not. To me it seems silly when I player gets in on the second or third try.
  16. I like our odds anytime of day with Freddy on the mound and the Tigers in town.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) Bottoms up! Careful YAS, you know how sensitive Mrs. Steff is about bottoms
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Nancy has been a White Sox longer than anyone has as far as I am concerned. It will be like the old ballpark closing when she leaves. To be honest, I wasn't too sad to see the old park torn down.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) I have said for years that "Na-Na" doesn't get played nearly enough. It should be played tons after HRs and pitching changes. If we want to make it a homefield advantage, these are things we should go back to. Be loud and proud! At the risk of sounding like an old-timer, the Southside Hitmen and singing with Nancy are some of my best memories. Na-Na gets me every time. It is currently on rotation at my local oldies station and I have to turn it up every time it is played. It never gets old. Roof Shots. When Nancy retires, I believe it will be a sadder day then when any player hung it up. If the team pushes her out, it will be the biggest backlash ever.
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) I thought they were penis warmers... Now we know why you were arrested at that game for waving your rally sock
  21. QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) What's with you and the polls lately? call me on my cell, we can talk about it.
  22. Experience does matter in the playoffs. Player by player we lose to the Yankees and Red Sox Teamwork and the "little things" will make a difference. Ozzie managing the pen in the playoffs has me thinking Grady Little
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:17 AM) Oh boy.. another pair of white pants stained with coffee.. LMAO Tex.. you and Jim have my sides hurting the past 2 days. spill a little mountain dew and really give the office something to talk about.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) Brothers and cousins You in Indiana and him in Kentucky, why am I not surprised
  25. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Shut up! You're using logic. We want to be free to b**** without having to deal with that! it's what we do best
