Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) How can somebody need a resistor and wants to know how to test that it is still good, but has no idea how to use a multi-meter nor knows how to apply voltage to a resistor to test wattage capability and doesn't know how to order from a distributor (INSISTS on going to a local "store" to buy it)?!??! And THEN tells me that the company I work for makes him angry? What a numb-nut. Did you suggest he head to radio shack and then attend DeVry :banghead

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Giving your email to John Kerry is worse than giving your email to MLB I think I just bought a customized Karl Rove All-Star jersey. It will not be good in the rain, it leaks . . .

This gave me a snicker...
A couple seasons ago, I thought Kenny should be shown the door. Now he is easily the front runner for executive of the year. Who was the last White Sox Manager to be named Manager of the Year? Oh yeah, the guy that sucked What that tells me is it's all about the players. Trades work out sometimes and other times they don't. I don't think the GM should get more than 25% of the credit. Most trades are at least close, there are very few that are lopsided from the start. It's up to the players to perform.

Soxtalk Book Club
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) I recommended the Buzz Bissinger book for August, but I went to put it on hold at the library, and I came to the conclusion that we might wanna choose a different book. Not only was I like 15th on the waiting list, but I think it's only available in hardback. That means like $20+ for you college kids out there. That's not chump change... Should we change it? I'd like to recommend I am Legend by Richard Matheson. I absolutely hated this genre (Gothic, Vampire, Horror) until I was forced to read this book. It is one of the top 10 books I've ever read. And can be finished in one long night.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) I was gonna ask that question. I was like am I supposed to read this backwards, lol. I'm assuming its just a countdown to the last page or something. I know one thing, I could tell someone else I'm on page 289 and they'll be impressed I read that many pages. Little do they know it would actually be like page 1 This is how observant I am, I noticed in when I was on page 5

He Gone T-Shirts
My favorite t-shirt that I bought and never found a place to wear it was up in Green Bay at a little tavern. It was the late 70's or early 80's and Lynn Dickey was the Packer QB. Front: If you want to beat our Pack Back: You have to lick our Dickey Even as a die hard Bear fan I had to love that one. Problem was I had about no places to ever wear that shirt.

A White Sox election heist
After Frank was passed over a couple years ago both by the Manager and then by the fans I swore I would never pay attention to the AS game again. I did vote early and often for Pods, but truly felt I was wasting my time. Thank you Francona.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Remember when Ross Perot was pining for a 50 cent increase in the federal gas tax? I wonder how well that would have gone over today. He would have asked for $1.00 today.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) Well, maybe he saw the promised land--but he certainly didn't climb the mountain. Pat Green Some people say: "Man, I bet she still makes love like an earthquake." Yeah, but man she ain’t easy: she ain’t letting you in my friend, my friend. Its time to wake up baby doll: put your best dress an' your high heals on, An' dream you're gone. Don't know why all of a sudden those lyrics were running in my head.

Sandra Day O'Connor retiring
Interesting that Kerry feels he can use Roe v. Wade as a litmus test but the GOPernauts can not. :headshake Stuff like that is just so wrong. Like dj, I'll wait for the nominee before making a judgment. I will also look more at actual decisions than answers on personal beliefs. I believe that Judges are able to set aside personal beliefs and interpret the law. I also trust our constitution and hope that the GOP and Dem avail themselves of all tools before a Judge is sworn in. A good hard look at the candidate and a proper review through the system is important.
