  2. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) Titanic I'm on my laptop and saw that coming from you and my first thought was OMG! This from a lady who doesn't like cliches. Then I turned slightly and the font looked green

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) How exactly do you take the car when your 15? Texas allows "hardship" licenses at 15 and almost anything will qualify as a hardship. But you cannot drink and drive until you are 21

Mostly in town guys. Not busting the tourists. Side note. When I use to attend a lot of Bulls games I would of course see lots of the working girls on Lake Street. One game my buddy is driving and jokingly calls one of the girls over and asks how much to do the friend of ours in the back seat. He's got red hair and freckles and had never been laid. She takes one look and exclaims "Do Howdy Duddy?!" I pissed my pans laughing.
  5. Maybe he could help out in the late innings for relieve pitcher advice, or handling the media

QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) prostitution... did I use profession improperly??? I would like to humbly offer an observation. IMHO sales is the oldest professional. I believe before she was a prostitute, she had to be a salesperson.
  7. Suicide is Painless from M*A*S*H At the end of Heroes, they played Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas. It is easily the best use of an existing song in a movie I have ever heard. Inexplicably, the cheap asses at the studio dropped the song from the DVD version of the movie.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) I can beat you all at worst jobs. I once spent a summer while in college working on a maggot farm. Yes you read it right, MAGGOTS, we bread maggots by the container load. As someone who has bought a few maggots and meal worms in my life Thank you. Did y'all do any of the dying? I was able to buy some that were red or green based on diet.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) I meant "Eagle Scout" as a metaphor. Quit being such a damned know-it-all! I know, there are very few things I actully know anything about dammit, let me show off.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:59 AM) You gotta test him to make sure he isn't faking it... Hey Tex, they should close the US/Texas-Mexician border immediately! What do you think? What's a Mexician? Is that a Mexican Magician?
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) And we can't forget "Yankee by Birth, Texan by Choice" We need a Texas flag smilie, bad. s*** howdy, that's my tattoo y'all.

Doing it regularly for a few months is much better than an occassional shift. Once you get into a rhythm, it can be kind of cool. Drinking at 8:00 am with the 70 year yung alcoholics is a treat.
  15. QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:38 AM) Don't they give those out at the border when you enter Texas? Is it a dually? I sometimes wish it was. It is an extended cab with a full size bed. I need it for my business. Towing a 10 ton trailer takes some muscle. Down the road I may switch to a diesel. 10 miles to a gallon is tough to swallow sometimes. No gun rack. The Bush Farm and Ranch Team bumper sticker fell off when I got it. It does have a Boy Scout and Country music station stickers.

Most of the Eagle required merit badges are not outdoor skills. Personal Management ($$), Family Life, 3 Citizenship, Environmental Science, Personal Fitness, etc. They also have to show leadership, and community involvement. The only outdoor merit badge they would need beyond "basic training" is Camping. Surprising to most people is Eagle Scout has a list of requirements that almost any kid could complete if he makes a couple year commitment. The skills he needed were all taught, or should have been, in his first month or to. This is a good teaching opportunity for my guys which I will be doing tonight.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:30 AM) Well, I bring my own, in a thermos, soooo, no. I don't have to leave my desk, technically. So you like the catheter I sent for your birthday!

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 06:57 AM) Well, he obviously did not "hug a tree." They found him 5 miles from the rock climbing wall. I was always taught to follow the river. It goes down the mountian and will lead to some sort of civilization. He crossed the river, but apparently did not follow it down. Since he was not very far from camp when first loss, and a search crew would be starting pretty quick, hugging the tree and staying put is a better choice. If you were on your own and needing to self rescue, following the river may be an excellent choice. It also helps if you are familiar with the terrain, have a map and some skills in reading it, maybe a compass. Sometimes rivers will dead end into a canyon. Vegetation is also greater around a river making spotting you more difficult. But the river provides a key priority, water. What always gets overblown is the lack of food. You will dehydrate long before starving to death. Humans can easily go 30 days without food but only 3-4 days outdoors without water.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 07:26 AM) What do you do? Will it make you feel any better knowing that I sit at a desk in front of a computer, posting on Soxtalk in an air conditioned office on the 26th floor with a beautiful view of downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan? I kid, because I care™ OMG, tell me you don't have to go get your own coffee That would be cruel and unusual.
  21. We're still discussing this? I didn't think the story had such legs. Interesting points of view. I am seeing some things that have shaped my opinion quite a bit. What saddens me is we cannot hold our justice system up to the world and tell them it works. We can justify treating these people differently but then concepts like innocent until proven guilty have been tossed out the window. Cruel and unusual punishment is being stretched at the least. Do as we say, not as we do. And we wonder why some people have negative opinions of America and our way of life. :headshake

Rock a bye baby on the tree top, When the wind blows the cradle will rock, When the bough breaks the cradle will fall, And down will come baby, cradle and all. Shhhhhh, Bobby is going to sleep . . . I kid, because I care™

  24. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Inning pitched, era, whip, and batting average against is what i would look at. Except we aren't trying to sort out who is the best pitcher in baseball right now. This is the starting pitcher in a ceremonial All-Star game where the fans select the starting fielders. Why should pitcher be the only position where actual stats matter? Who do the fans want to see get the start? Usually, in America, we love the underdog, the Cinderella story, the kid out of no where who bursts on the scene. Give the ball to Garland.
