Thanks for your help........
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) s*** if thats the attitude I think the US has helped those ungreatful bastards enough....have fun rebuilding your country by yourself....but thats just me. Wait a minute. US companies are lining up to cash in on the rebuilding. You can bet Haliburton, and some of their subs who walked out on Iraq, would love to shift equipment and personnel to less dangerous regions. Lots of money to be made.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Basketball is nowhere near as physical as hockey. To an extent, football isn't either. Football has more physical play, but the hits in hockey are far more intense. Emotions run much higher in a hockey game because of the physical play. It's part of the game, and without it you'd have stickwork and other cheap shots all over the place. I don't think hockey fills the stadium by using it. Most hockey fans are hockey fans because of the other facets of the game. Fighting just adds to it. So a physical sport needs fighting? Are you saying attendance would go down if fighting was eliminated? If it is such an integral part of the game, why are there penalties? Why not set it up like checking. Some forms of checking are allowed and others are not. As long as the two players agree, and they are at center ice for the best fan views, and both players have dropped the gloves, there isn't any penalty? Maybe allow two fights a period. Only if one team is down two or more goals. To sell the game the NHL would have a mission statement like this: The NHL strives to bring the best in combining skating, passing, checking, deft stick work, and fighting. I think the choreographing was lacking here.

Weird Quirks?
QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) I am severely afraid of vomiting. That pretty much eliminates you from most drinking games Clock set ahead a few minutes -- check Alarm set for odd times -- check I always have to shampoo first in case the water should go out. I figure hair is the hardest thing to wash outside a shower. The water has never been shut off while I was showering. I always had to make my last basket before quiting, and sink my last putt. When packing for a trip, I always double check from the ground up, these shoes with these socks with these pants, etc. Wallet always in this pocket, keys always in this one. I won't even bore you with my backpack but sufficient to say, everything has a place and in the dark I can immediately find whatever. Took months to get to that state. CDs alphabetical, books by size. OMG, Damn you ChiSoxyGirl, I think I need therapy

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) Sorry, but if we have major disaster I don't want to see armed Chinese military walking down our streets. Agreed. Especially if they want to replace our corrupt government with a better one.

University Question
I've been to both towns and if I had a choice of where to live for a semester, it would be Clemson by a small margin.

U.S. ends search for WMD
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) I agree with you totally on this one. We had an open road to Baghdad, solid international backing and about 3 times the troop strength in theater that we have now. I was 13 years old at the time and was watching General Powell doing his little briefing on CNN showing on the map where our forces were and that there was nothing in front of us and thought to myself....."So what's the holdup? Finish it." Not solid international backing. Bush Sr. had a mandate from the UN that reached to the border, not all the way to Baghdad. That is the biggest difference between the two Bush approaches. Sr. followed the UN resolutions to the letter. Dubya used Iraq's failure to follow UN resolutions as justification to attack Iraq, while simultaneously not following the UN direction of not invading. One was in 100%, the other just used the UN for what he wanted. Either way it was great fun and we will reap the benefits for years to come.

U.S. ends search for WMD
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) The world is going to continue to revolve around the Middle East for foreseeable future. The Middle East and the oil from there. Considering Iraq's proximity to Isreal, the instability of the House of Saud and the ever increasing upsurge in violence from the funamentalist Islamists, the U.S. needed to establish a foothold in the region to protect the interests of the U.S. Iraq will give us a staging area in the event of troubli in Isreal, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, etc. I'm not justifying the Iraq War by saying that. I am stating that I believe those were the main reasons Bush and Co. got us involved over there. You are correct. As soon as we no longer need oil, we will see hell on earth as all the world's super powers pull out of the region and start selling weapons to the highest bidders. Hell we'll sell to country A, then sell the antidote to Country B, then a better weapon to country C, until they are all gone.

U.S. ends search for WMD
QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) Huh? Iraq is surrounded by rogue nations that wouldn't mind encroaching on borders and attacking Iraq. Canada is surrounded by US who will come to their aid if anyone attacks. If Iraq said, yep, we got nothing, proved it, some other Middle Eastern country would be licking their chops and looking to move in.

U.S. ends search for WMD
Iraq is in a corner of the globe that is very dangerous to be weak. Bluffing and lying is all part of the life of a dictator. Contrast that to Canada, who doesn't care how they look, they have Nuke_Cleveland protecting their butts also. So they aren't in Iraq!? Let's pick another country and start shooting, overthrow the government, and install democracy. We can keep doing that throughout the world until everyone has a freely elected democratic government. Seriously Iraq was not a 10-1 underdog to have WMD. If a bookie started taking bets, not having WMD would have paid long odds. As anti-war as I was, I felt it was better than 50-50 that we were going to find something. I am slightly surprised, and a bit proud, that we didn't Mark Furman a bloody glove.

Not just athletes and Presidents should have a theme song played as they walk in a room. If you could have a theme song, what would it be? Possibly not your all-time fav, possibly it is.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) Because that's the way players have policed themselves for decades. Furthermore, it adds something to the game - any good fan can tell you that. It's part of momentum and the toughness that hockey is all about. It's hard to explain, but it really is part of the game. I don't live for fights, but they certainly have their place during the course of a season. Why doesn't it add something to basketball? Basketball was a joke in the 70s with the fights and after Rudy T almost died, they cleaned up their act, then their imagine, and soon were a major sport with major revenues. Football is physical but doesn't need fighting to fill the stadiums.

Besides boxing, why is hockey the only sport that cannot survive without fighting? Football manages just fine, as does baseball and basketball. I think fighting turns the sport into a circus sideshow. If fans need to see fighting to enjoy the game, then there are serious problems with the game. Give me a wide open game, with great skating, crisp passes, and some scoring, and I'm a happy man.

A recorded movie line would work fine. The Admiral Theater was the one that Dahl would use. I think it's out of business though.
