QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) We didn't get equal value from the Brewers. I won't argue that. But it was also a salary dump. without getting rid of Lee, we probably don't get AJ or El Duque. That's the only way he can look at this trade without getting angry Excellent point. With the PTBNL we can call it a salary dump.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) What usually happens to a baseball after a game? This can't be the 1st time this has happened. It gets tossed into the equipment bag for batting practice unless a player did something like won his first game, started, etc. -
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) It's better than nothing, but he can't run & I doubt he has any real chance of ever playing 1B for the CWS. So his value to the organiz is basically trade bait. In conclusion we gave Lee away for a specialist reliever who is likely to struggle in the AL, & a speedy OF who had a precipitous decline in his soph year at the plate. I still hate this trade. I was on the fence with this trade and this makes me begin to think we are behind out of the gate. I always liked Lee and I believe his upside is higher. In basketball it always seems whomever received the best player won. In this case, and if that holds true, this may not have been a good trade. Of course this always hinges on how the players perform the following seasons.

I wonder what an acceptable amount of error is in a national election? Zero is obviously an impossibility. Two much and elections are questionable. .05% 1%? I wonder if there are tolerances established. Some of the error is relatively minor. I'll bet we all have friends who have moved and not sent in a change of address and just went back and voted in their old precinct. Perhaps mail in absentee ballots were filled out by friends and relations, etc. I seriously doubt there is a possibility to rig an election on a national or state scale before the election.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) There's an ignore feature? Go to "My Controls" and one of the options is to manage your ignore list. You will not automatically see any posts by the people you add. It will show they posted and give you an option to read that post. You will see any of their posts that are quoted by others.

I altered the choices before anyone voted to give you two a place to vote.

Yeah! Let's hope he becomes the talk of legends how a HoF 1st Baseman was thrown in as a PTMNL.

Win the division and get steam rolled in the playoffs. We know the drill and are damn good at it. Tag team for the Central for a while now.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. Moving Sosa is the tough part. The Mets are launching the new TV network, like the Yankees, and need some marquee names to sell it. Maggs would work, but Sosa is better.

I think it's going to court and no one will win. If it goes into the stands for a walk off home run, the fan clearly has ownership. I doubt this has ever happened before. BTW don't forget our alter ego http://www.talksox.com if you want to chat this up with Red Sox fans. -
QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Yeah, no s***. We could be down 5 and then up 5 in no time. With all the small ball we'll be playing, it will take a 2 hour inning to cross 10 runs
-
If career opportunities and waht makes sense playing wise comes into play, an AL team with the chance to play DH makes the most sense. I see a Harold Baines type career for Maggs, especially if the knee doesn't respond. The Sox are probably lucky he didn't accept the last contract offer.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) I'm a big Billy Koch guy. He was a tough guy and owned up to his struggles. He didn't run and hide like LaTroy Hawkins. Here's hoping he can become a 30 save guy again in Toronto. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) I gotta say, dispite everything that happened on the field, I like Billy's attitude. He was honest, up front, and never ducked the media. Hopefully he finds his way again. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) I look forward to Billy Koch trotting out of the opposing bullpen. Its a shame he never found his way on the Southside. Here's hoping Koch can get back on track in a familiar setting in Toronto. Best o' luck ay'! QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) I like Billy Koch the guy. I like Billy Koch the player. I just don't like Billy Koch the player on the Sox. Goodluck in Canada and I hope you get your career back on track... He displayed a ton of guts and class. I really will pull for him to regain his old form. I wouldn't mind an obvious cheat to fall this far, this fast, but Koch seemed to play hard.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) Funny, I heard a discussion about this on the radio, they said it's actually Potugese. If you listen carefully, when he says 'one' he doesn't say Uno, that would be Spanish. They also said 'Catorce' is 4 in Portugese, so it makes sense. Besides Spanish and Portugese are very, very similar. Interesting. I imagine then that Hola! [spanish for Hello] and (¿Dónde está?) [Where is it?] are also the same in Portugese?

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) Us bleeding hearts welcome it with open arms. Even from wing nuts wings are nice, but I prefer the breast. {insert joke here}

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Actually it was italian I believe. I still like what I've heard from this album.... but then again after listening to the Pop album, its hard not to feel every other song they did was grammy worthy. catorce is spanish also. you discussing Spanish with the guy living on the Mexico border

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) I hear you on that. There's a couple songs I've liked U2 has made, but for some reason U2's never really done it for me. I seem to have a curve with U2 songs. Slow to like, then I like them for a while, then all of a sudden it's :puke It could be that every song they do immediately goes into heavy rotation.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) I hit my first three point bucket and pulled down my first rebound in varsity action last night. I remember when I hit my first bucket and grabbed my first rebound. We were at least 20 points down, that's the only time I played
