  1. Looking at some of the recently computed stats I am beginning to believe we are creating false impressions and faulty conclusions. Many of these stats have too many interrelated factors that they are almost worthless. Take a player out of his team and things are going to be different. I think the old standbys that could be computed manually in 1908 are still the purest and best.
  2. QUOTE(babybearhater @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Its a great article, but it really makes me think. I am not sure if Carlos can succeed in the cleanup role, nor as being the "man" in the lineup. i always thought that Carlos hit his best in the #2 hole when there were big bats behind him. Im not sure if he will clear 30 bombs this season or even bat 300, it is yet to be seen however. I'm guessing his experience with Maggs and Thomas out of the line up proved to himself and the Brewers that he could be. I believe he is on about a 3-4 year run of improvement. I will be surprised if he isn't an all-star in 2006.
  3. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) Dressing in "out there" clothes, wearing earings and makeup and dying your hair is completely different. The original post was about hair length only. My point is that it's possible to look professional and business-like even with long hair. To discriminate against somebody solely because their hair goes past their collar is wrong. And it doesn't go past the color when dry. It's so curly as soon as it dries it's well above the collar.
  4. QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) Nice work Knightni! Now, stupid question, how do I use it? Easy right mouse click on the sig and note the address. Go to "My Controls" and click on edit sig. Paste the location into the input window and you are stylin' PM me if you need some more help.
  5. It means your mom hacked the site and believes you are hangiing around with the wrong element. or the file was lost.
  6. I'm 6/10 and I really don't care who or why regarding Marina Towers. I know it was some social revolution versicle city concept, but really . . .
  7. Learns what the M in MRI stands for
  8. They should be happy. The Brew Crew got a good player who hopefully will place them atop that division for a long time.
  9. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) Can we get back to the topic at hand? So, if for one sec, we assume this trade does go down and we get Mr Consonant and Kim, is that a good thing? I would prefer Mr Consonant to Gload and if we are giving up marginal prospects for Kim, and Boston is taking on a huge chunk of that $6M salary, why not. Totally bogus rumor. The clubs ain't pitching this one.
  10. Nice work. I like the combo package.

  16. QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) Actually Payton threw the ball into the stands. Good catch file this one too
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) Hmmmm ... let's look at it this way. I live in western KY. If I made $50K here, there is no way I'd accept $60K to move to Chicago. It would cost me in the long run. And there are some city residents that would not take a $100,000 increase to move to Western Kentucky, they don't like rural. They would take less to live in a high cost area. I am totally lost in what we are discussing BTW, I love Kentucky and would move there in a minute after my kids finish school.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Wait! You disagree and agree in the same post? While under the influence of the koolaid, I disagree. Thinking of Shoe as a starter, I believe the five arms we have in the rotation are better than him. As a middle relief type guy, I don't want an unhappy guy riding the pine. Taking the koolaid straw from my lips, I remember the early season guy, and keep thinking he's another pre-WS E-Lo. I could see him stringing a season that would make us miss him. Make sense?
  19. Unfortunately these acts get you noticed, and highlighted on sports center. :headshake I always felt a silenced stadium was the best retort.

  21. I always try and stop and realize that trades aren't about the past, it's about the future. I always liked Lee's upside. We'll compare in October.
