We have slowly gotten to the point in time that a person's words are defined not by the person stating them, but by anyone else. In other words if one person, or one group of people are insulted by how something is phrased, it is defined as wrong. No matter how the speaker or writer meant them. Even if the speaker's intent is plain as day to everyone. I think we've become too uptight.
  3. Bakery Holiday or Beatles song
  4. No really, I am still a Chicagoan at heart.
  5. Except the Sox do not own the stadium, the taxpayers do. The same Cub fan taxpayers who paid for it.
  6. When Wrigley is rebuilt, the Cubs should play their games at the Cell. The stadium was taxpayer supported, the other team is a Chicago team. Sending them to Puerto Rico, or Milwaukee, or wherever makes Sox fans look small and petty. We are one city and those Cub fans are also the same people who support the Hawks, Bulls, Bears . . . How about this double header. Cubs-Mets followed by the Sox-Yankees.
  7. I'm still a Chicagoan at heart! Actually only admins have the ability to skew polls by repeatedly voting for their choice. Oops, wasn't I suppose to tell
  8. Of course Bush and Co. was not responsible for the wrong information.
  9. It would be sad if the Cubs outdrew the Sox. There would be no excuses. It would be funny watching twenty drunk Cub fans trying to pee in the same urinal like the troughs at Wiggley. It sure is funny when the other guy gets the cream pie to the face.
  10. LOL, only you would think of that.

That's a huge plus. One of my pet peeves regarding public transportation is how dirty and smelly it becomes. BTW, buses coming out of Mexico and into the US are generally very clean, well equiped, and a pleasure to ride. Not the same for the US buses.
  12. Really, I always hoped that the President had more information. Does that also mean that Congress and the Senate had all the same information on Bin Laden that Clinton had?

    So you aren't watching the Sox-Tigers game . . .

If he has a web site he must be pandering to the masses and selling out. I prefer indie bands

Don't forget to goto the currency exchange for Michigan money and do not drink the water.

I guess the Sox game has been cancelled or is Mr. Southsider2k4 already switching to Mr. Southsider2k5. Fair weather fan. Wouldn't this flip flopping fit better in the Kerry thread?

Another point of reference: Minimum wage is about $11,500 Kerry proposes to increase it to $14,000
  19. Are they still making carbon comp resistors?
  20. Texsox replied to Xero's topic in SLaM
Actually it is just a private car that hooks up in IIRC Skokie for the drive downtown. They pay a fee to be towed.

Say hello to the loveable losers . . .
  22. Texsox replied to Xero's topic in SLaM
Is that private train car still running from the northshore down town?

Off and on we have posts regarding taxes and how these people are living la vida loco on the public expense. That it is better to just say screw it and live off welfare. I wonder just how much some people think we provide those families. Could you live in a nice neighborhood, drive a car, go on vacation?
  24. SS and Queen, would you like your companies to supply ambulance service to your town? I always think of those types of companies when someone starts telling me how great privatizing government services would be.

Using Texas, the maximum benefits a person could receive are: TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families $208 per month Lone Star (Food Stamps) $471 for a family of 4 about $90 per person above that. Plus some basic medical and dental benefits. Child Care programs are really confusing and based on adjusted income levels.
