  1. He can always retire if he doesn't want to accept a few million frickin' dollars for playing a game.

Judging by the deals that KW and JR have done, this was not a make or breakup year. I love our locked in starting pitchers. I feel good about this team for the next two seasons as well. It remains to be seen if we can sign Maggs, but I believe we will make a better than usual offer to keep him. Kudos to Sox management. From a personnel standpoint this has been an A+ year both for deals that didn't get done 1st half Colon, Nomar, and for deals that did get done adios Billy, Shingo, Everett, adios Rauch, Freddy, Jose . . . Now a little 13-2 run and we're back in the thick of the race.

Too many people ignore the scares, I pray your dad uses this to improve his health.
  4. :fyou There is room for all.
  5. IMHO, there are as many great Cub fans as Sox fans. The Cubs have done a better job of marketing to the casual fan who sees a baseball game as an opportunity to drink too much, piss on lawns, and in general be asses. I do not follow the Cubs too closly but landing Nomar seems like a great move. We'll see if it is too late to save this season.

  7. Plus this proves how we do not need Maggs or Thomas with their multi million dollar salaries. We got guys filling in just fine.
  8. I am so damn happy that we are slumping in July instead of September

  13. The lead sports story on the local news is always HS football. The local sports radio talk show will be 90% HS sports. Fans know the names and tendencies of all the top HS players. McAllen High School's stadium seats 5,000 and it sells out. This picture is from a scrimmage, not even a game. One local radio station hires 26 stringers to cover all the Rio Grande Valley games. It is truly amazing.
  14. LMAO,
  15. Actually a few universities in Texas have teams and the University of Texas - Austin was ranked in the top 20 last season. Div. 3 Baylor, A&M, Tech, and a few others have teams. But you are correct, Texas is better in football and baseball.
  16. I wonder if there is a single college team in Texas.
