  1. Actually, all the candidates suck. Remember all the indie candidates that are running. Those that have not sold out to the machines.
  2. epublican? Is that a person who only posts his opinions, never votes them? If so, I love epublicans.
  3. Aw shucks, he didn't mean it . . .
  4. Kotex boy is such an asshole. What a loser. I really hate him. Moronotti! just trying for a little cred
  5. True. However, I'm not so certain being paired with other 18-22 year olds is better than being paired with adults. The minor leagues, the longer season, the homesickness, etc. may all be worse for MLBers. Plus the NFL and NBA guys are in the show, they have to produce now, not 5 years from now.
  6. It's about the size of a Texas county . . .
  7. :headshake This is the ugly downside to drafting HS kids. Too much pressure, too much money, too little maturity.
  8. CW, change your settings to 30 per page and no need to bump
  9. We have a couple great replacements, unfortunately they are on the DL
  10. You might be a Democrat if you believe . . . You believe our government must do it because everyone in Europe does. You can't talk about foreign policy without using the word conspiracy. You think Ralph Nader makes a lot of sense. The closest you've ever actually been to a rain forest is a Sting concert. You don't understand why anyone was bothered by Jane's trip to Hanoi. You think solar energy is being held back by those greedy oil companies. You would rather have the Federal government make your investments than Fidelity. You've never had to worry about marginal tax rates. You have to use the term "mean spirited" in every sentence when talking about welfare reform. You actually expect to collect Social Security. You think the State of Florida should have tried to reform Ted Bundy. You have a "Run, Jesse Run" bumper sticker on your diesel Volvo. You think the Great Society has actually worked. You got teary eyed during the film "The American President." You think Ayn Rand is an African currency. You get goose bumps when Barbra Streisand sings. You think political patronage describes the Kennedy family. You've tried to get in touch with Hillary's broker. You think the Free Market is where they hand out Government cheese. You think Carter should be on Mt. Rushmore. You believe personal injury lawyers when they say they are just trying to defend the little guy. You think that Vietnam and Bosnia are two completely different situations. You know that those profit mongering drug companies could find a cure for AIDS if they really wanted to. You like Rolling Stone, but they should really get rid of that PJ O'Rourke guy. You actually believe the NY Times and Washington Post. You know at least one Vegan. You trust Teddy Kennedy when he said that she was driving. You'd rather own Birkenstock than Merck Stock. You think that the Teamsters are misunderstood. You think public housing is great, but just NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard). You think the anti-war protestors from '60s are the real heroes. You think that Supply Side Economics refers to your dope dealer's stash. You would send your kids to public schools, if they just had better extracurriculars. You think Al Gore really did invent the internet. You actually think that poverty can be abolished. You think that Joan Baez had something to say. You admire the Swedish welfare system. You know that Jefferson really meant to say "Entitled to Happiness." You think the Flat Tax should be at 95%. You go to Gay Pride Day parades so that no one can call you homophobic.
  11. You might be a republican if you believe . . . Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism. HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for your recovery. You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.
  12. Link: It won't delay start of season
  13. Amen. Wow, that may be the best thing I've ever read on the subject.

    Toilet Seats

LMAO, Great idea! Bubbles if you stand, bubbles if you sit. Ladies will not understand
  15. Second or third. He's going in basically as a DH. NL writers may struggle with that. No WS appearances will also hurt him. Check the last 40 years, only a handful of players without a WS appearance have been elected. THomas will be there. He is the greatest batter and all around hitter I've seen in person dating back to the late 1960s.
  16. I'll admit I was wrong in the amount of influence that Oz must of had on Freddy to sign the extension. The man gave up millions to sign with the Sox and the connecion with Oz is the only reason that makes sense. I do not think we paid an outragous amount for Freddy. I'll bet others were very close.
  17. We have not been able to elimate crime in our country, how do we think we can eliminate crime in others? Look at all the drug related murders around our country, how would we solve them? Rapes, assaults, robberies, et.al. are problems everywhere.
  18. A writers first responsibility and desire is to be read. His paper loves all the attacks, all the attention. I dislike us playing into their desires. Ignore him.

    Toilet Seats

As I was looking at the impressive display of toilet seats at my local home improvement store, I noticed a few big, soft padded toilet seats and thought yuck!, who buys these things. I assume a few are here
  20. We just have to look at the roster to determine how big of a deal it is. Who would have agreed with a trade of Maggs and Frank for Bochard and Gload? Would anyone have cheered and thought it increased our chances? We are fortunate that: 1. We started out well ahead, talent wise, with the rest of our division. 2. Uribe, Perez turned out better than expected. 3. Kong is well, Kong again. 4. Rowand is hitting lights out. I will feel much better going into September with Maggs and Thomas. Can we win our division without these guys? Yes. But a WS seems out of reach.
  21. How about google bombing "That's a white sox winner" to this site?
  22. Losing Maggs and Thomas is huge. If the Twins lost their top two players, we'd be feeling pretty good about our chances. Fortunately it was to Maggs and Thomas not Buerhle or E-Lo. We have plenty of offense, this only lowers us a little bit. Still if they were in the lineup, I think we would have been pulling away from the Twins instead of treading water. We can display all the bravado about not needing our top two players, but don't kid ourselves, it's going to be a lot harder going deep in the playoffs without those two.
