Based on a 5 man rotation, and correct me if I'm wrong here but: E-Lo pitches on the 16, 21, 26 Bart pitches on the 17,22,27 Mark pitches on the 18,23,28 The playoff game would be ASAP after the 28th. I'm not sure if they set a date. At any rate Estaban has the most rest of the "big three". If the game is scheduled for the 30th we have almost not choice but to go with E-Lo on 4 days rest. Unless we want to go with Garland

If we want to sign a big name FA picture I would start with Colon. I like the guy, I like his laid back approach and getting the job done. Way is it that it always seems easier to sign someone elses guy? Still I expect to see him in Yankmee pinstripes next spring. I could also see him moving to Atlanta. Of course corg would love to see the tub of goo rounding the bases like a herd of elephants.

All this is easier if you have a better closer. If Colon was pitching for the Dodgers the past couple starts do you think he would have had complete games? Hell no. We would have been saving his arm for playoffs. 3-1 lead going into the 9th and our best closer is ~~ ta da! ~~ Colon I hate to say it but if we go to a 4-man rotation we're going to be a mess in a couple weeks. Anyone remember Black Jacks playoff record? As I recall it wasn't too good and I believe a lot of that was the innings pitched by the time the playoffs game around. We have a solid 1-2-3 an erratic 4 (Cy or Judy) and say a prayer and toss your cookies baby because expansion sucks. The 5th starter today would have been AAA at best a generation ago. The Marlins or Diamondbacks or ?? has our and everyone elses 5th starters.

Getting back to Joe. If he was writing for the Trib and homing it for the Sox like that we would errect a f***ing statue to him at the Cell. I wish a Chicago paper would hire a guy like that to counter the "objective" journalist we have now. If you had a choice of reading a guy like Joe being blindly loyal to the Sox or Jay Marriotti who would you rather read?

IMHO and I'm certain someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but Frank sets the tone for this team. He might be the third or fourth best player on the team but he provides some great leadership. When Frank retires it will be a toss up between Maggs and Lee but until them Frank Thomas is the guy. He also deserved it a couple times in the mid 90s and didn;t because we basically sucked. There is always the sentimental factor in voting. E-Lo Cy Young possibilities may effect Frank or any other Sox from winning. When was the last time a team had the Cy Young and MVP? I'm old and forgetful. If we are going to give reasons for Lee or Maggs I'm surprised no one mentioned they play the field while Frank is DH.

I thought Carl's wife started this thread He was a class act in Texas. Did a lot for the community. Almost without exception fans and the team where sad to see him go.

Overall the mood is somber over at the KC Boards. They have all but given up. I tried to cheer them up pointing out what a great summer they had. It was bothersome that some of their regulars find it easier to cheer for the Twins. Twin fans seem to think we are unstoppable right now. Even with the scheduling down the stretch favoring them, they fell the next two games are their season. Surprisingly not too much trolling by MLB.com Sox fans. We know eevryone here is a knowledgable baseball fan and doesn't care to resort to trolling

We have the S-W now let's buy a vowel with Cy Garland then we'll let E-Lo "P" on them. Hmmm, I like that, rather witty for so early in the morning. It'll be funnier if everyone was drinking.
