Is that earth sweat on the moon?
  2. I'm sorry, I should have edited mine after reading yours. I do agree there are idiots out there so I didn't necessarily disagree with your earlier post.
  3. Yes, I was avoiding a pejorative label but it goes beyond that. No doubt some of his supporters are idiots but so are some that are Ridin' with Biden. (For clarification I've voted Dem my entire life.) I don't appreciate being lumped into some left leaning groups and I know some right wingers don't like being labeled with the idiots. There is a poster here who supported conservative candidates. In the middle of an epic Filibuster argument I realized we didn't disagree on the end result for America. We disagreed on how to get there. He didn't want people starving, going without medical care etc.. He just supported a different path to that goal. I suspect as a society, liberals and conservatives aren't as far apart in the goal as we are in the how to get there. I chose to live in an area that is largely liberal in a state that is mostly conservative. I know some hard core conservatives that are holding their noses and voting for Trump. They aren't idiots. They don't like Trump's antics or example but policy wise they can't support Biden.
  4. I'm trying to be apolitical here and look beyond the politics at other roles that our presidents take. I've often believed that POTUS serves as a cheerleader. Looking at my lifetime after Nixon resigned, Ford stumbled, Carter was held hostage by extremists, Reagan literally rode in on a horse and gave America its swagger back. Then after the elderly Reagan and equally elderly Bush left Clinton entered the picture blowing a saxophone and blaring Fleetwood Mac. Again America felt alive. While not my cup of tea I see that Trump has invigorated some Americans and they are digging the vibe and want to believe. I think most posters here agree it's a dangerous path he's taking people on. Comments our presidents make (any of them) I believe are more impactful than any budget or legislation they try to pass. This election isn't about immigration or health insurance, it's become Covid and Twitter.
  5. Sad but true.
  6. Open doors but not windows. I have my 30 desks arranged into 10 pods. They get sprayed after anyone sits there and left to dry. There's a one hour minimum between kids sitting at the same desk, but more likely three hours. Not enough on its own but it allows me to let the disinfectant air dry. I'm wearing a mask and there is a small plexiglass divider but it really doesn't do anything. I'm also fortunate to teach seniors who are least likely to be coming on campus. My biggest risk is coaching. All the golf facilities are running at full capacity and we are mixed with the public. And paperwork. We're continuously contact tracing. I can report exactly where everyone has sat in every class this year. I can tell you who followed who at a certain location on the range. Which players played together in practice rounds or tournament. I know who I've been in close contact with day by day. Bloody pain in the arse. I've met virtually with two coaches who have had players test positive and don't want the experience. The records that the health officials and our district want is a full time job.
  7. My school's team in ranked #1 in the San Antonio area. It's amazing how the players embrace the culture and work hard in the classroom.
  8. And few tourists or outside contact. When I was out that way a couple months ago I stopped in a gas station and put on a mask and fresh gloves to go inside. The clerk thanked me and mentioned how she felt bad but she wasn't as neighborly to strangers as she normally would have been. But I noticed her spraying and wiping as I was leaving. We had 450 students sign up for in person classes but less than 200 are actually coming on campus. Our total enrollment is 3,200. I have one or two in each class each day and basically have to ignore them in person and work with them on line. Anecdotally it seems more students that selected virtual classes are testing positive than in person. We believe it's because many of those kids are working in fast food and retail operations. The district is requesting all teachers report to campus which is causing some stress. Currently about 120 of our 140 teachers are on campus.
  9. My wife has the same issue. She teaches at a private school with nearly all the kids in attendance. They don't understand why they can play and travel together on the weekends without masks but have to distance at school. There are still areas in Texas with zero cases that don't follow any restrictions. Wide open ranch lands just don't seem to be good shark habitat.

I'm doing a lot of smoking with a Weber Smokey Mountain. I'm also picking up a Blackstone Griddle as part of an outdoor kitchen build.
  11. I'm pleasantly surprised that at my school of over 3,200 students we've had no teachers (actually any adults) infected so far and only two students since we resumed. I believe part of the reason it's we're using city wide metrics to guide how we reopen. Our area was never hard hit but we're using worst case data. I'm going to be interested in the longitudinal data on the affect of one less than ideal year of education on children's development. My hunch is we'll see a wider gap than usual between economic groups. Children of parents who are better educated and have a higher economic situation will not fall as behind as economic at risk children. Also children with learning struggles will fall behind as no in person remediation is available. My district is prioritizing getting those kids back on campus as quickly as possible but we're far from achieving 100% of those children on campus.
  12. I am a golf coach. I quit then I don't have health insurance and I die. So basically fuck off.
  13. I believe we need to follow the rules. You think a magic policy will work. I will. I have cancer and heart disease. Fuck these people that won't follow the rules like responsible adults.
  14. My only point is people have to follow the rules. The original point was IF IF IF we're going to open at 25% capacity then people have to be responsible or forced into responsibility. Close bars that won't enforce 25%. Arrest people. Do whatever. Balta I believe wants to wait until they can operate at 100% or don't open at all.
  15. Once again I agree we need stronger laws. Best of all then nobody needs to follow them. Happy now?
  16. One more time. Yes, we need solid public health policies. And if people ignore that beautiful public health policy nothing changes.
  17. Agreed. As we've seen if people don't follow the laws it keeps getting worse.
  18. I don't have a need for a delivery driver so I eliminate it. I actually hardly order restaurant food so not hiring someone to pick up my food is easy.
  19. I'm at a golf tournament. No touching the rakes, flags, no water coolers, no contact at all. At school anything anyone touches is treated as being contaminated. So maybe I'm being too careful.
  20. Agreed. And as I stated before Owners need to be responsible and stay closed. People need to stay away from illegally opened dining rooms. And police need to responsibly apply the law.
  21. Exactly. Big muscles are better than small muscles under pressure. I've seen really good players dead wrist wedges to 150 yards. With today's balls you get plenty of control without a hard release.
  22. Several people said that doesn't work.
  23. I wonder if y'all are thinking that's what I'm saying. Actually the opposite. Following the rules is less individual freedom, more intervention, and greater government. I want more conformity to laws, not less.
  24. Than what have I said that you disagree with?
  25. Maybe y'all have different delivery scenarios than what I'm thinking. There is basically one restaurant that I still visit. Metro Taco Stop has been a regular three or so days a week stop for me for about three years. Raul is the owner and he has a cook. That's the entire staff. Before entering you must use hand sanitizer and wear a mask. No exceptions. The cook hands the food to Raul and he hands it to me. He opens at 6:30 and I'm using there at 6:45. Normally he has about 20 tables, now he has four. If no one is there, and rarely at that hour is anyone there, I will dine in. I know he has disinfected the table using a product that is equal to what we use at my school. If someone is there I will take it to go. If someone arrives while I'm waiting the five minutes or so for my order he knows to change my order to go. I don't believe having Raul hand that to a different random delivery guy each day who then adds my bag to the other bags and then the driver visits other area restaurants that I don't know how clean they are is very safe. I want to see the process. With contact tracing I understand that everyone that the delivery driver has come in contact with is a potential source of infection. Perhaps that is being overly cautious. Maybe those delivery services have put in greater safety protocols that make you comfortable. And, I'll be honest, the fees are crazy. Just something to consider. I know y'all just want to prove how wrong I am. But adding potentially infected people to the process isn't in your best interest. If you can, go get that food yourself. It will save you some money and IMHO reduce somewhat your risk.
