My most recent major project. I made both pieces. The corbels were more fun than I thought. The upper shelf started with some interesting tin my wife found at a restoration shop.

Will There Be a 2020 Season?
I just read DH for all if a limited schedule is played with geography used for scheduling. It could be the in road to finally have universal DH.

775 I hope you are ready for the new age with at the minimum a gun and at best with a passport. After a second, and deadlier wave hits this country we will permanently ban all social gatherings. The only opportunity to be face to face with other humans will be at work. Any form of entertainment will be cancelled. People will be forced to cut their own hair, cut their own nails, and massage our own muscles. Police, in addition to guns, will be carrying instant read thermometers and if you are running a fever you will be disappeared to a special isolation building. Image no religion too. Once the 1% have control of everything, we will merely be worker bots creating greater wealth for the richest. To avoid the spread of disease we will stop voting and just allow a council if the top ten companies to make decisions.

Did I miss someone posting about one of Trump's valets testing positive? Apparently the valets to the President are military officers. https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/07/politics/trump-valet-tests-positive-covid-19/index.html

Harper actually loved his meeting w/ the Sox
I agree about the pursuit of money. I just think that once on the arena of being a professional athlete they are often choosing between two places that are not home. Harper, for example, couldn't stay in Las Vegas to be near his hometown. Would Frank Thomas been happier in Atlanta to be near home? IDK. I guess the closest I can think of was Buerhle flirting with the Cardinals every once in a while. But with the very limited choice they have in cities to work, and the very few differences between employers, money becomes a bigger factor. Calling him greedy for taking the highest bid between two cities that are equal is unfair.

Players that we would be discussing have the financial resources to move their families plus friends, girlfriends, pets and anyone else to live anywhere near their team. They would be taking their kids to a private school of their choosing. No doubt there is a chance they would not enjoy a city or actually have a hometown team. But how many free agents do you think that could possibly include? If you are playing the game and become a free agent, money and time are easily the biggest differences between offers. Chicago versus Philly? New York versus Pittsburgh? Milwaukee versus Houston? It seems like most free agents face a situation between two cities that they have no connection to. I absolutely agree with what you are saying for most people. Harper for example could say he wants to play in his hometown and I am certain the Aviators would love having him on the roster. However, the As would eventually buy his contract and force him to move to Oakland. Then it would be retire or go play in Oakland. It's such a weird situation for them.

What could a team do to offer him more time with family? I'm trying to think of a single factor that would be different in what teams would offer?

And you know professional athletes are competitive.

We wasn't choosing between being a baseball player and being a thief. The equivalent choice is between being a school teacher at this school or that school. He would literally have the same job. Also, while in some cases it's AL versus NL for most players staying in the same league means playing in the same stadiums, staying at the same hotels, and flying on basically the same planes for half the season. So do you want to take the same job which will have you travelling to the same cities for a few million dollars more? And nothing says we REALLY want you here more than an extra $10,000,000 on the contract or a few extra years. Isn't being wanted by your employer high on most people's lists of things that make them happy?

Adding to the happy anywhere. At the level MLB players are paid, schools for their kids aren't an issue. Safety for the family? Same anywhere. Entertainment? They are working all the time and can go anywhere in the world during the off season. Managers and teammates? Fired or traded. Winning? That's the worst case scenario for the fans. Imagine if suddenly ever free agent valued winning over a paycheck. They all sign for less with the same couple of teams. Bad for competition levels across the sport.

What percentage of his base can be flipped? I'm trying to remember now what regular voter chose Trump over Hillary. It seemed like he only received the fringe votes. I'm seriously thinking he keeps the disenfranchised, racist, rebel flag waving crowd and the hell no I'm never ever voting for a Dem crowd. Add in the Crooked Hillary to Creepy Joe voters. While on one hand I'm thinking no way we do this again, I don't see an easy win.

Is there really that big of a difference between any two teams in terms of "happiness"?

Well bless your heart it's always like that, the rich and powerful make and break the rules. But after our economy craters by the end of the year we'll all be too poor to pay attention. So sit down on that cracker barrel and let Ol' Tex help you out. It's easy any mule's tail can catch cockle-burrs. Fight the system Greg775, don't wear a mask. Stick it to the man and be like the man (or the mayor). Those internet sites pretending to sell masks are all crooked as a dog's hind leg. Once you give them a credit card they know more ways to take your money than a lawyer. And for God and country sake, head to Texas for a haircut and a gun. Tex will chamber of commerce you a nice salon, coffee shop, park bench, and a good dealer. We got riots and chaos coming with all the meat shortages. Until you get armed, protect yourself by wearing a helmet. If you really do want a mask you know we're here to help you but Greg775 has to take the first step. As Tex always says you can't get lard unless you boil the hog. Now I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you so don't be looking like a goat on astroturf. First off don't bother asking the people not wearing a mask advice on where to buy a mask. That's like asking a dog with no legs to come. Instead, invite the maskless to come with you to find masks. Lead them to the promise land. Have signs printed up Greg775 and the Search for the Holy Mask. We know these masks can be as scarce as a virgin in a cathouse but walk up to ever person who is wearing a mask there in K-land and ask them where they bought them. Perhaps video the conversation and post it here so we can help you understand what they are saying? Of course it is difficult to understand what they are saying with everyone talking through a mask. Imagine leading all those maskless people who did not know where to find a mask to masks. You'll be famous, like the Pied Piper. Then when you are running with the big dogs and livin' in high cotton you will be allowed a haircut and access to the secret meat lockers that Jarrod has established throughout the country. And if that ain't fact God's a possum.

You probably need a custom mask to be the most comfortable. I hope it is the new norm. I'm thinking I'll have a Sox mask for most of the summer months. I'm sure they will make some really funny ones as well. Plus, if we start covering our faces and heads I won't have to worry about fashionable haircuts and shaving. Win - Win.

I take a stab at guessing . . . My cynical nature says -- because AIDS was perceived as primarily a "gay" disease and this virus is more widespread? The tough on crime folks tend to target vulnerable groups hardest. Why was crack a worse felony than cocaine? or with AIDS you knowingly infect, with COVID 19 you are infecting someone without knowing you are sick.
