The Extreme 5 or 6 is what I am looking at.

I was just about to pull the trigger on a Yeti cooler and stopped. I'm wondering if I really want an ice chest that I have to worry about getting stolen. My daughter has one and yes, it seems great, but mine will be sitting out at campsites and sitting covered in the back of my truck. Worth it? I just would be so pissed if I had my $400 cooler stolen along with all the provisions.
  3. Companion question, how many will it take to earn a Cy Young?
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 24, 2016 -> 01:35 PM) And you wonder why it's the biggest money maker. It was the first made for TV sport.
  5. Because it has been taking 90+ wins to win the division most years. The wild card isn't anything I like to count on. Winning the division is.
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 23, 2016 -> 04:20 PM) I do not agree that everything is going right, nor does this team need everything to go right. Plenty has gone wrong and they're still in first place. You're acting like this is a true talent 70-win team. Rollins, Navarro and Avila are all hitting worse than last year, with Jackson and Abreu hitting significantly worse than last year. Sale and Quintana have done amazingly well, but that's almost canceled out by the dropoff we have experienced from Rodon and Danks compared to last year (the 5th spot was a concern going into the year but it's been even worse than expected). Latos had a great start, but has already pitched poorly enough recently to get his numbers back to where projections had him. The bullpen pitched over its head in April, but a lot of that luck was canceled out by the disastrous last couple of weeks. I guess I'm just not seeing all the luck you're seeing. Lawrie and Avi have played above expectations but not outrageously so, Frazier is pretty much in line with what we expected, Melky bounced back to his 2014 numbers, and Eaton has been hitting like this since last May. Since you still haven't answered, who are the smoke and mirrors players? And why does someone playing above expectations mean they're certain to come back down, but someone underperforming doesn't mean they'll go back up? Everything is certainly not "going right", that seems like a gross exaggeration to fit your narrative. Are you that high on the Indians/Royals/Tigers or am I just missing something here? What is the true talent of the White Sox in your opinion? Sure not many predictions had the White Sox making the playoffs, but it wasn't something that was totally unexpected either. Even Fangraphs writer Dave Cameron, who rarely says anything positive about the White Sox, wrote that there was a good chance the Sox would be good this year. No one thought the team was going to keep winning at a .700 win pace, but the talent of this team is still a lot better than you're giving it credit for. I see them as an 88 win team talent wise (preseason prediction). I believe at the time I made the original post they were on pace to win 95 to 100 games. I didn't think I was calling them a terrible baseball team, at least that is not my opinion. I just believe they would be overachieving to win 95 games and they would need everything to fall in place. You believe they have the talent to win 95 wins. I hope you are correct. But out of 78 votes in the pre season prediction thread, 4 people had them winning more than 94 games. You had them at 84 games in that same thread. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=98487
  7. Anyone else too lazy to try to spell a word correctly? I usually just throw enough letters to get close then let spell check take over.
  8. It makes the argument that baseball is too slow seem weak and unnecessary.

  11. The truly innovative things that would need to be done would so enrage purists and a lot of the average fans. Instead of 4 balls and 3 strikes make it 3-2 or even 3-3. Put pitchers on a pitch clock, add or subtract time by having runners on base. Limit pitching changes in a couple ways. Relievers must pitch to a minimum of 2 batters. Except for extra inning games, limit a team to three or four pitchers. To truly get the average game down by 15 minutes, which is where it needs to be, major changes would have to take place.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2016 -> 12:17 AM) Seriously folks, Hillary gives a boring 20 minute speech and makes this kind of money? You explain to me why this person should be President? http://dailycaller.com/2016/05/23/rush-lim...e-the-election/ This one is especially appalling. Do people think haters are making this stuff up? I've never heard of such easy money in my life. Even Michael Jordan probably can't get that kind of appearance money. http://dailycaller.com/2016/05/11/exclusiv...ry-100-million/ I'm not trying to be a dick, just understand your passion for such an evil person at least in Greg's opinion. And probably raises 5x that for the organization that invited her. Like MJ, the great ones don't look like they are trying.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 23, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) What is the exact course? AP Language and Composition, AP Literature, etc.? Literature. Seniors. I do not have dual credit this year so I am not so worried about final prep. We are using different materials to discuss what their future holds. So we're looking at a number of different themes.

Three weddings in one year. Engagement parties, bachelor parties, tux rentals, gifts for the couple, etc etc. I remember not getting invited to be in one. The groom was super apologetic, I kept trying to find a nice way to say, thank for saving me $500, I really didn't want to be in the wedding.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 23, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) I had to put it out there before I could effectively argue my point: I want youth in the White House. new blood. Well a few people circled the bait, but it seems they all swam away without getting hooked. New blood versus an experienced leader. It's a classic debate.
  16. Texsox replied to SouthsideDon48's topic in SLaM
One year I shelled out over $500 for tux rental and close to $2,000 in total for other people's weddings. It gets f***ing expense. And none of my friends did anything extreme.
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 23, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) Ok, you didn't really answer the question, but sure. Most of the preseason projections had the Sox finishing around 81-84 wins, right behind Cleveland. Now that they're 26-18 and several games up in the division, if they play the rest of the season out to preseason expectations, they'll be right there for a playoff spot. The Sox were basically like every other AL team, expected to be around .500, which means if you catch a couple breaks you can end up in the playoffs. That's far from a "smoke and mirrors" scenario you're claiming. That'd be more like if the Phillies made the playoffs this year. I guess smoke and mirrors is too vague, it seem to mean more of a stretch to you than it does me. So insert your phrase for this team is winning more than expected and without continued luck and everything going right, it probably will not continue. They are winning in spite of and not because of the talent level of the team.
  18. I was thinking first about all the possibilities during an intentional walk, wild pitches, ducking back and throwing a strike, stealing home, etc. Then I realize I couldn't remember when I had seen any of those. Pass them on. As far as the strike zone, isn't calling more strikes speeding up the game?
  19. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 23, 2016 -> 10:37 AM) Who is smoke and mirrors? Sure there's a few guys overperforming expectations, but there's also a few guys underperforming expectations, regression to the mean goes both ways. And you're acting like we have a bunch of juggernauts in our division. Every other team in the ALC is pretty flawed themselves. I disagree that we'd have to "sneak in". Looking at soxtalk preseason predictions, most posters did not project a division win. Most of the paid prognosticators left the Sox off the list of division winners.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ May 23, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) Well, hence the article that economic growth is being increasingly centralized in major metro hubs. The question is who should solve the housing issues, government or private business?
  21. I believe for a moral argument to work it would have to be tied to the economy and security. These are two key obligations we should expect from our government.
  22. Projecting future success is the hardest in baseball, the easiest in basketball.
  23. QUOTE (Special K @ May 23, 2016 -> 08:08 AM) We're not going to win this division with a series of sub playoff team talent. I fixed this for you. As we have alluded to in a lot of threads, there is a whole lot of smoke and mirror success happening. As long as everyone doesn't regress to the mean at the same time, and for an extended time, we may sneak in. But we could upgrade almost everywhere. The only strategy question is what is the biggest need and what will we have to dig a hole to get?
  24. Today's lesson for my AP English students, analysis of Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower. I'll be playing the Hendrix cover mostly. Final four days of class.
