  1. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 21, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) Wow, that is really cool. (except for the baby bird, that kind of sucked)
  2. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 20, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) Fours months late? How much change in the grade is there going to be 0% to 1%? Edit: change the grade in 4 months, Tex Moved the kid from a 31 for the marking period to a 70. It was the major grade for the marking period. I do not take off points for being late, my focus is on the lesson and the student learning the material.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 23, 2016 -> 01:29 AM) Hillary is going to be president at the age of 69-73 the first term; 73-77 the second term. Trump turns 70 on June 14. We know Bernie is very old. My question is why the hell as a country haven't we picked one of the young candidates to lead this country? To get behind fresh young ideas? Visionary ideas like a 40 year old Kennedy?? Hillary fricking Clinton and Trump if they were in many families would be considered the old grandma and grandpa that nobody listens to, just the ramblings of old folk. In this day and age of electronics and even the Millenial generation coming of age we can do no better than octogenarians. I mean in the working world (you know it's true) if they applied for a real job anywhere they'd be laughed off company property. Their resumes at their age would be tossed in the trash bin. Only way they'd have a job is if they owned the company. I mean they are OLD. Nobody over 50 can get considered for a job nowadays much less 70. Why couldn't we embrace a Rubio or Cruz or one of the young Democrats out there emerge? The Democrats decided it was Hillary's time? Why? She's gonna be our president at the age of 77 for goshsakes. This is a young country; young ideas have to take over and save us before we kill the environment completely and kill the economy completely, before China takes us over or North Korea drops some nukes or before air travel is rendered IMPOSSIBLE because of terrorism (see last week's incident). But we turn to octogenarians when no octogenarian would EVER get his/her resume looked at twice by a company president for a real job. Explain people. What is with America?? I mean we treat our old veterans like s*** (month long waits to get to the hospital exposed!), we treat our old people like s*** (atrocities at old folks homes) and we're about to elect an octo. It should be interesting to see if age is mentioned during her second term at all. Hope she has thick skin cause people are gonna be roasting her for her age. I hope business owners realize how silly they are denying 52 year olds jobs when our president is gonna be close to 80 during Hillary's second term. Nice try. Hits a few hot buttons. You may be able to incite a person or two. I think you're stretching just a little bit here. Troll level 4 on a 10 point scale. Not your best effort Greg. Maybe it seems forced and not your true belief.

I gave money clips to all my groomsmen. I like the flashlight idea. I liked getting some thing useful of better quality than I ordinarily would have bought for myself.

Anything in South Congress if you are just looking for an area. But for a specific destination go to Mean Eyed Cat A Johnny Cash theme place. Lots of locals. Craft cocktails and beer. Good food. Usually solid bands. You will want to order the brisket.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ May 20, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) When I was growing up watching Frank Thomas I didn't actually even realize he was as good as he was. I just kind of figured every other team had a guy like that. That's kind of what I was thinking when I started the thread. If I could go back to Thomas's rookie season what would I do differently? With Frank I remember vividly how bars would become quite when he came to back. Everything stopped and watched. It could be the bottom of the 5th with no one on base and you stopped to watch. Sale is different. I guess I'm thinking I want to really pay attention to what he is doing. I want to really remember each start.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ May 20, 2016 -> 12:00 PM) So I am going to Austin for work next week and looking to find a restaurant with some good food and live music. Anyone have any suggestions here? Will be me, my boss, and a coworker. All in one or do you want to eat in one place and then head out? Quirky fun, high end class? Are you trying to impress?

If I add one more book to my summer reading list I may tilt the earth. But this sounds great.

Slow day conversation. Quite possibly by the end of this decade Sox fans in their 30s or older can say they watched in person the greatest Sox pitcher and hitter of all time. Anyone doing anything special knowing that in thirty or forty years your grand-kids may be asking did you really see Sale pitch? Hell to expand it, Chicago fans, we've grown up with some of the greatest all time players on all of the major Chicago sports teams.

  11. What a student just basically told me "I turned in an assignment that was four months late THREE HOURS ago and my grade STILL HASN'T CHANGED!!" "I'll get right on that" If only they understood the green in my voice.
  12. I haven't watched 60 minutes in decades but as soon as I heard the news my mind was filled with stories he did. A real piece of America.
  13. The biggest donors don't worry too much about the coaches, they spend their influence with the AD and university presidents. The large donors talk to the coaches. The $5,000 donors are the jock sniffers.
  14. Being an out of market watcher I seem to get the opposing team 90% of the time. I don't care who is broadcasting for the Sox, I prefer it to the opposition announcers. Then it is a steady diet of information about the team I have only a passing interest in. It doesn't matter how good of an announcing team it is.
  15. QUOTE (farmteam @ May 19, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) Anyone ever done an out of state move with a moving company before? I want to have someone move my stuff to the Chicago area in early June, store it, then move it into the City when I get the keys to my new place July 1. I've just begun looking but not even sure where to start. Get a Minneapolis company to do the first leg? Get a Chicago company to come up here and grab it? I'm leaning toward the latter because then it's more likely they could store it for me then move it into the City. I'd rather just deal with one company. It's all about how much you are willing to pay. You may consider a rental truck that you keep for three weeks, thus storing your stuff instead of loading, unloading, loading, unloading. We did our own packing then had movers come and load and unload. We saved a couple thousands dollars but more important to us is we knew the packing was done right.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 19, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) Is Ozzie still being paid by Marlins? He belongs in a MLB dugout as a bench coach or manager. How bout Fredi Gonzalez who everybody thought was so great? Fired. Ozzie has baseball in his blood. Once Marlins stop paying him he can join a team in some capacity. We know Ozzie loves money. Greg, you have be sitting there smiling thinking wow, someone will take this seriously.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 19, 2016 -> 11:59 PM) Even after reading this? Hillary turns to her husband to run the economy. Even the staunchest Hillary supporters must realize she has shown a great weakness in making her husband in charge of such an important part of a president's workload. Please tell me you support her after this bombshell. https://www.yahoo.com/news/the-argument-cli...6289370166.html The economy was pretty damn good while he was President. Naming potential cabinet appointees and top advisers does the public a great service. It allows the voters a greater glimpse into what that candidate's administration would look like. I appreciate that transparency. Now, what do you think Trump could have his spouse do?
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 18, 2016 -> 08:34 PM) I was going to ask before this inning if this was the inning Latos gives up no runs or a bunch and gets knocked out but yet again he gives up one run. Sox need to not wait til the 7th inning to get some runs before they are too far behind. A post in search of a thread . . .
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 19, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) POTM
  20. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ May 19, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) I said "even if he's a criminal" meaning "even if he comes back and is put on trial and convicted," I wasn't straight out calling him a criminal. "even if he's a criminal" means after he is put on trial? How would you straight out call him a criminal?
  21. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ May 19, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Huh? Of course it is. How would you deduce that from what I said? Then how could you have been against securing his release? At the time the negotiations were taking place he was not a criminal.
  22. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ May 17, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) i didn't like the Bergdahl thing either. I didn't really freak out about it, I just didn't understand the logic. I get it, he's an American life even if he's a criminal, and I get that the Israelis do the same thing, but I felt like a sports fan questioning if his GM gave up too much. I guess innocent until proven guilty isn't a thing in the military. I prefer the exchange then a trial, if necessary. If we start deciding who to try and save based on anything less than a legal, fair, trial, I believe we take a giant step backwards and leave soldiers at risk.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 19, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) Before Brendan Sodikoff ruined it, I used to go to california clipper that has a regular band. Occasionally go to empty bottle on fridays when they have the hoyle brothers playing every week. Not many places in Chicago just have music like that. Almost all are venues. Carols also comes to mind but that's just kind of a fun dive. I was blessed living so close to South Padre Island where every other bar has live music. Now that I am in San Antonio it takes more work to find these places.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) NO Presidential election has ever seen higher negative ratings than this one. http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2016/05/19/f...ember/?mod=e2fb Right after this election we need to have a national discussion on how we can reward better candidates.
