  1. http://www.springtrainingconnection.com/glendale.html Good stuff if you are planning a trip to Arizona.
  2. Depends on how you look at it.
  3. Between now and the end of April I have at least two tournaments a week. I love this coaching stuff. Between Girls Varsity, Boys Varsity, JV/Novice, and Beginner I will be really busy.
  4. Baseball is his life. While I find it hard to believe that anyone would not care about the HoF, I don't believe it is as big as deal to Hawk at this point because he has a big ego. He doesn't need anyone else to validate his own opinion of himself.
  5. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Feb 14, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) Tex, I like you but you have to really stop this. I NEVER SAID they torched their own building. I said I would bet 50-50 that they did. You said that doesn't happen, I showed you instances where they have damaged their own stuff/hurt their own people and claimed Islamophobia. Read and quit trying changing words in your replies to make things seem better or worse. I didn't say there was no chance, I said there was no evidence. Unlike the shooting where there is actual evidence. You would bet 50-50 on them torching their own building but fight anyone that says there is a chance the guy shot those other people over religion. You have direct quotes from the guy being explicit he is against religions. You have nothing on the bombing. Why are the bombers 50-50 and the shooter 0?
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) A university doing its job should have a standard procedure where you can report these things without having to worry about facing repercussions. Many universities are discovering they have issues like this with their sexual assault reporting policies right now. That kind of failure is something that at the very least permeated the entire athletic department. That's a deliberate setup to make sure things involving the football team are covered up. I agree. Which is why I find your overall stance so strange. Don't punish the janitor with direct knowledge, punish every other janitor, students, players, plus secretaries, and suppliers, and anyone else who didn't have direct knowledge? First you say it is everyone's fault that works there for having that culture, then you say it isn't their fault. Why punish people who were not at fault?
  7. When I need to take four passengers I really love my F-150. Thigh room galore, plenty of head room, three adults in the back seat like it was a limo.
  8. Because Spring training is so close this reminder. This gets closed and locked when pitchers and catchers report.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2015 -> 01:50 PM) Frankly it would be mine. Especially if I'm in a position of power over people where I'd have the ability to fire them, you want people to expect that you'd do the right thing if they did the right thing. If they did the right thing and reported a raped child, they felt that because of that the wrong thing would happen to them. That's on the environment of fear as much as anything, and that's not just on the coach, that's on everyone who allowed that plague to flourish. But you aren't punishing everyone who allowed it to flourish if you don't punish the janitor who ACTUALLY KNEW IT WAS HAPPENING. Or McQueary or should be in jail. This is insane, not punishing people with knowledge then turning around and punishing everyone else?
  10. It isn't the janitor's fault because of Paterno. yet you want the entire university punished because they allowed it to happen?
  11. Zero evidence that the guy shot the people for being Muslim. This evidence that they torched their own building? Really?
  12. If I don't report a crime because I believe Balta will fire me, is that your fault or mine? And seriously, take a job as a janitor with benefits before accepting a paycheck from that university.
  13. Very awesome day of research! Walking on sunshine
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) If you're given the choice between that and having your spouse no longer be able to see a doctor, isn't the choice obvious? This conversation is way off scale for a message board. It involves a personal matter that you have to deal with. Again, I do not believe the institution is evil. I believe the faculty you would be joining would have made an entirely different decision than the couple people that did. Therefor I would have no problem accepting a position there. Well the cold would suck. I bet you will discover that the adults around the university share your disdain and are upset about the shame the event has placed on the university.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 14, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) I still fundamentally disagree with this concept. I understand you do. If we followed your reasoning there shouldn't be a university for you to apply to. Every department in the University should be punished. The President was involved, the president was in charge of the entire university, so the entire university should be punished. Pull any grants, government assistance, close down the research labs. I say you should go and be proud of being a Nittany Lion. Their academics have been top ranked, they are a great American institution who in their 100 plus year history had five horrific individuals that ruined lives and have been punished for them, perhaps too lightly, especially one. There have also been hundreds of thousands of outstanding faculty members and students who have been an asset to their communities. The math seems easy to me. If you truly believe that the entire institution was corrupt and should be punished, a lot of those same people are still there. By joining them you are sleeping with pigs and giving your approval for their past mistakes. I find it unbelievable that based on your beliefs that you would even consider working there.
  16. Sorry I was just tired of seeing the b.s. I tossed up there earlier.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) Hawk's year as the GM has been written and talked about as something that basically set the team back for 5 years. That team was going to be bad regardless of who the GM was. All you really have to do is check the roster. There were some pieces acquired that helped in the future. I laugh at all of the people now who made it seem like Hawk committed some sort of felony when he got rid of LaRussa. LaRussa got booed every time he went to the mound. Many of the same people who would call into radio shows to say LaRussa sucked and needed to go are fans that now use firing LaRussa as proof Hawk is an idiot. You make that sound like an unusual thing lol Nice analysis and much fairer than what Hawk usually receives.
  18. Quite early for my sig and avatar to be in full baseball season. It signifies my approval of the off season moves by the Chicago White Sox and their minor league system.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 14, 2015 -> 07:46 AM) Let me get this straight, Balta has accused everyone that uses gas/oil of somehow supporting beheadings, but at the same recently admitted to applying for a job at Penn f***ing State, an institution that enabled a child molester for years and still views one of those enablers as sacred. Talk about some holier-than-thou bulls*** right there. I believe a key difference is the entire university wasn't corrupt, only a very small handful. Actually five by most counts. The entire academic department had no idea what was gong on.
  20. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_in_Chicago Three rugby teams, four roller derby, two women's American football, hockey, Australian rules football, arena football, dodgeball . . .
  21. Perhaps the evil misquoter appeared in this thread
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 09:02 PM) They are the ones who have spent the last month cheering. That's what has bothered me. That and applying for a job there. There were millions of people cheering on Penn State. They had no idea what was going on. They are not guilty of anything. Crimes happen on every college campus, most people have no knowledge of them. You can't hold an entire campus guilty. There is one person still not punished, which pisses me off. But I'm not concerned about punishing a campus.
  23. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 08:01 PM) liking the insurance marketplace. My step son turns 26 in a couple weeks and he will have a plan that won't destroy his sayings. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) LoL, twice in a 24 hour period. Wouldn't expect less from a Texan My oh my did I post too quick.
  24. liking the insurance marketplace. My step son turns 26 in a couple weeks and he will have a plan that won't destroy his sayings.
