  1. My wife really likes the idea of an all-in-one computer. She was looking at a HP. Thoughts?
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 12:36 PM) Tex hasn't completed poll yet....65+ is still at 0. Thank you for making the cutoff 53 Put me in an older category. It is weird when I think of some posters and realizing my kids are older. I forget when I was older than everyone on the 40 man roster. I do know that we have never had a president younger than me. (Obama is two weeks older). When I see how many kids were in high school when they started posting here I realize I could be talking to one of my students. That is really weird and something I would prefer to avoid.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 11:43 AM) I just want to say THANK YOU to Jerry for that. If his kids can pull together the money to buy it from him, great, but I hate when sports fans are held hostage by the 2nd and 3rd generation kids whose entire identity is the team and if they fail there is no way out. Dollar Bill Worst is an example of it being better with the kids taking over. As for the next stadium, I still believe it will be out in the suburbs. Pluck it down in Arlington Heights somewhere near Arlington Park. Basically anywhere along 53.
  4. And if I could add the Audubon Society and an island they own near South Padre Island. TNC Bought "shore to shore" a significant chuck of South Padre Island which very solidly ends any development on that end of the island. Honestly, unless a second bridge was build waaaaay up that way it wouldn't have been developed for a hundred years, but it is nice to know there will always be some open land on the island.
  5. people forget in a hurry.
  6. Nothing like a great off season to spark season ticket sales and keep the media thinking of the south side.
  7. I recently was working with a golf pro and we ran through my bag and shoot video on my swing for a project. I'm thinking of dedicating some time to my game and see if I can be back to a 5 handicap or so. Mostly for the stress relief.
  8. Holiday Inn for me. The worst part of Christmas is putting lights on the tree. We have a cool setup in the new house. Our loft is visible from the living room and has a nine foot ceiling, just enough for our tree. We didn't have to crowd the living room furniture and can still enjoy the tree.
  9. You may be like me and wondering why this year the thread is slower moving.
  10. I reread the thread and would like to add a factor that we seem to miss. There is a real world connection. These are classmates often times who are getting together to bully a kid. Friends of friends may be in the group and giving a blow by blow description of what people are saying about you. If you read that someone is going to jump your friend after school do you tell your friend? Or that a girl is pretending to like you then is going to mock you in front of the whole class? It's different than here where we're spread out and very few know anyone else in the real physical world.
  11. Weekly news like that will have WS visions in our heads
  12. Responses have been going perfectly in this thread.
  13. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) No, but it proved that these cases need to stop being tried in the media and court of public opinion, because all they do is screw things up. It messes up the people wrongly accused and messes up people in the future that were actually raped by making it harder for them to come forward and/or be believed. This makes so much sense. However, taken to the extreme is just as wrong. By "sweeping" these things under the rug it allows people to perpetually commit crimes without being called out on it. Rape victims have always had a hard time coming forward. For a long time here it became blame the victim for the way they dressed, where they were, being drunk, having had sex with other men, etc.
  14. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) For now... That is why a few people have opted to not participate in the program. Currently they have the ability to just stop your electric during peak demand times. So I'm not so certain that allowing them to throttle back during peak times is a worse thing.

    i am drunk

Guy in a wheelchair just passed me, he said hey shorty get out of the way. The women are 6' 3" what the hell are they feeding this crowd? I got a hug, her boobs are resting on my head.

Someone just took a dump, it sold for $3000. Damn, even the women are taller. What the hell do they feed people up here. Jesus.

At the major fundraiser for my wife's school. Drunk. These guys are too rich and too f***ing tall. I'm 6'1'' and feeling short. What the f***. And why does autocorrect keep me from typing f***
  18. I believe . . . Both the Sox and the Cubs have an equal group of knowledgeable, avid fans who regularly attend games no matter how the team is playing. The battle then is for the occasional fan and the once a year, suburban, take the family to a game, crowd. The Cubs have crushed that demographic for a lot of the reasons mentioned. The Cubs have always played the TV game better. Most of the posters here grew up with cable/sat TV. A few of us remembers crappy UHF channels full of snow and twisting antennae around to get a signal and pay for view schemes. The Cubs blasted a signal across the midwest while the Sox were hiding. Wrigley was projected as family friendly versus the worlds largest beer garden on the south side. The Cubs got more out of losing in '69 than the Sox did in winning in '05. Now the only time the Sox can pass the Cubs in attendance is when the team is winning big.
  19. That would be everyone, especially near the end.
  20. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) But the Ferguson people weren't destroying the property of people they were mad at, they just destroyed for the sake of destroying. And looting. Some were, no doubt. But for others it was a protest that would get attention. Frustration from people getting killed without a trial versus someone paying a few extra cents for their tea. Just sitting around discussing and acting nice isn't going to fix anything.
  21. Jim Parsons has done more for science and scientists' image in my opinion.
