  1. Responses have been going perfectly in this thread.
  2. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) No, but it proved that these cases need to stop being tried in the media and court of public opinion, because all they do is screw things up. It messes up the people wrongly accused and messes up people in the future that were actually raped by making it harder for them to come forward and/or be believed. This makes so much sense. However, taken to the extreme is just as wrong. By "sweeping" these things under the rug it allows people to perpetually commit crimes without being called out on it. Rape victims have always had a hard time coming forward. For a long time here it became blame the victim for the way they dressed, where they were, being drunk, having had sex with other men, etc.
  3. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) For now... That is why a few people have opted to not participate in the program. Currently they have the ability to just stop your electric during peak demand times. So I'm not so certain that allowing them to throttle back during peak times is a worse thing.

Someone just took a dump, it sold for $3000. Damn, even the women are taller. What the hell do they feed people up here. Jesus.

At the major fundraiser for my wife's school. Drunk. These guys are too rich and too f***ing tall. I'm 6'1'' and feeling short. What the f***. And why does autocorrect keep me from typing f***
  8. I believe . . . Both the Sox and the Cubs have an equal group of knowledgeable, avid fans who regularly attend games no matter how the team is playing. The battle then is for the occasional fan and the once a year, suburban, take the family to a game, crowd. The Cubs have crushed that demographic for a lot of the reasons mentioned. The Cubs have always played the TV game better. Most of the posters here grew up with cable/sat TV. A few of us remembers crappy UHF channels full of snow and twisting antennae around to get a signal and pay for view schemes. The Cubs blasted a signal across the midwest while the Sox were hiding. Wrigley was projected as family friendly versus the worlds largest beer garden on the south side. The Cubs got more out of losing in '69 than the Sox did in winning in '05. Now the only time the Sox can pass the Cubs in attendance is when the team is winning big.
  9. That would be everyone, especially near the end.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) But the Ferguson people weren't destroying the property of people they were mad at, they just destroyed for the sake of destroying. And looting. Some were, no doubt. But for others it was a protest that would get attention. Frustration from people getting killed without a trial versus someone paying a few extra cents for their tea. Just sitting around discussing and acting nice isn't going to fix anything.
  11. Jim Parsons has done more for science and scientists' image in my opinion.
  12. His book, Theory of the Earth is a page turner, can't put down until you are done, seismograph registering slam dunk, hit.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 04:51 PM) This place rocks. Thanks for asking! Are you on a boat? BTW, four times in my career I stepped into a supervisory position. My best advice, you have two eyes, two ears, and one mouth. Use that ratio the first month. Learn he culture, learn the why of the organization.

If you think this was a miscarriage of justice be respectful, and peaceful, and don't bother anyone and it will change.
  16. Our local San Antonio Water and Sewer company offers $100 in landscaping credits if you agree to remove 200 sq feet of lawn and cap any sprinkler heads. We did and picked up the plants and mulch. Less mowing and it was part of our overall design plan anyway. Right now the electric monopoly is here doing an energy inspection, we receive a $15 credit on our bill, and a free programmable, internet controlled, thermostat. The benefit to them is during an energy emergency and to prevent blackouts and reduce brown outs they can send a signal and raise the temp 3 degrees. We have the option to override the setting if we want.

Back to Boston, do you think the British saw it that way? These were their citizens destroying valuable stuff and openly defying the government over money. Ferguson people are defying over someone getting killed and not even being brought to court to answer the charges.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) Except that the cargo of tea belonged to a British company that was directly profiting from the unfair actions of the government. The property destroyed in Ferguson belonged to private citizens who had nothing to do with the "unfair" actions of the government. The British business was following the law, why should they be punished? It seems like we're trying to have it both ways.

hey look, another unarmed black person was killed by a white officer and no charges will be filed. What were the odds of that happening in the same millennium. http://www.cnn.com/ "I can't breath!" choke hold case. But this person was suspected of selling cigarettes illegally. So, what is the proper response? Quietly protesting? That will get stuff done.
  20. Texsox replied to Brian's topic in The Filibuster
Destroying someones property (cargo of tea) seems like the same as destroying another person's property.
  21. You are almost ready to go around again.
  22. NBA finals? check check check and a few more checks. My buddy and I split Bull's season tickets during the 90s About the only watching that is high on my bucket list is a high school team I coach win a championship. I experienced that with middle school kids, I want it with the big kids. Playing St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, and Renwood Golf Course (again for Renwood).
  23. We had a possum near our front door which was partially enclosed, only about 6 feet from wall to wall. I saw that ugly thing and decided to go through the garage.
  24. very well then, but I also just finished a hot 9 holes while y'all are freezing up north.
