  1. I believe other teams have managed to come from 6 back in five months to win a division. I know this team can as well. And I believe a little adversity in a season helps the team in the post season.
  2. Now is the chance to be an expert by figuring out why the team will turn it around. Anyone can point out the problems, the fun is figuring out what no one else sees. So I am not surprised that fathom would start this thread. I am surprised he hasn't contributed more meat. That's what I was hoping to read.

We need to start rebuilding right now and follow the Indian's successful model.
  4. Useless to try to avoid this thread . . .

Now that they won the division, how far will they get in the playoffs?
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) It takes a lot to get people to adapt a second team. People aren't going to adapt it just because ticket prices are chep. But if the cheap, available, tickets mean you can see more of a team, wouldn't that lead to a fanbase? I was surprised that the Bears would be an easier competitor than the Bulls. Now I can see why from these posts. I am also starting to believe that the Bears fanbase incudes a lot of "Cubs-like" fans who just enjoy the experience of attending an NFL game. The next question would be, if you had the money and the go ahead to start a team anywhere in the world, where would it be? I'm not certain if Chicago is the ultimate spot.
  7. They would probably have cheaper seats at least for the first few seasons. Again, geography would be key. A suburban location would bleed off fans. They wold likely still cheer for the Bears as well, but you would see them attending games at the other stadium.
  8. Decided only the Sox in 1st should kill this thread.
  9. QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 06:13 PM) For those of you that don't believe the original poster was being serious... well i still do. Not often do i come across someone that has the same viewpoints as myself. I think some of you are just being naive... and hearing what you want to hear... because you guys just can't grasp that there are different ways of looking at things. Get real guys, you are in no way better than us. Peace, homies. And the Oscar for best supporting poster in a satirical thread goes to . . . qwerty
  10. A suburban team of either sport would have a chance. I believe the revenue structure in football would make a NFL team an easier success. Imagine a Sunday game in Schaumburg at an indoor facility. Easy access via rail or road, restaurants close by, shopping at Woodfield for the rest of the family. hell, they could run shuttles from their parking lots.
  11. Zero chance this gets to page 2
  12. I guess I should be paid, I've been a colossal homer for 30+ years. The secret is, if you constantly find ways things can go wrong, you are an expert, if you constantly find ways things can go right, your a homer and do not know anything about baseball.

Caught The Conspirator this afternoon. Nice movie. Since I had just finished teaching a section on the War of Northern Aggression, the one y'all call the Civil War, it was fresh in my mind that . So that might have caused some of the suspense to be lost.

  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) TSA security looks at people who complain about TSA security as elevated terrorist risks. Seems like a reasonable thing. If I were a terrorist, I'd be trying to get security less strict. I'd be working to discredit the government's actions and attempts at providing some security. I'd point on the superiority of the private sector firms, like Blackwater, at providing security services. Hmmm, maybe some of the people in this thread are really terrorists!
  16. Maybe there will be a new challenge, how obnoxious do you have to be before Ranger dusts you on the air?

  18. I believe many liberals are independent thinkers and more willing to see the other side. The GOP will call it flip flopping. The Reagan Dems would be a great example.

So far I am liking this laptop. I assume I will get accustomed to the keyboard type and layout, until then I keep making some entry errors. There is an extra column of keys to the right with shortcuts to mail, internet, calculator, etc. I keep hitting those when I want tab. It also does not have bluetooth, so I had to use a different mouse, using up a USB port.
  21. Caulfield makes a very legit point, and there are reasons that broadcasters and media types like Hawk last forever with teams. But every once in a while, you may gain more fans with a well chosen idiot comment. I didn't here this and can't tell if it is well chosen, but from the sounds of things, it just may have been.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) I don't know if it's humane or inhumane, but if it's regulated and people are slowly weaned off of it, it's not the worst idea. Quitting anything "cold turkey" can be rough on your system. This idea here is a poor one, though. There is no weaning. No lectures, just drink until you die, if that is your choice. The hospice does not give you liquor, but will lock up yours so the other alcoholics will not steal it.
  23. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) Yeah, he didn't even get on base half the time. What a bum. Clogged the bases as well. He didn't help the Sox at all the last couple years of his career.
  24. I just realized how much Frank Thomas sucked.
