Coach Tex
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) Were you a Yorkie? Coach Newton Basically borrowing a few of his strategies . . . Basically I will be recruiting, recruiting, recruiting The long green line will become the purple pack, they already have really short hair :-) It is a really short season so about 1/3 LSD, about 1/3 fartlek, and some speed work leading up to the big District meet. Working with my 7th graders on a year round running program will be the key for me next year. Now I have to take whomever comes through the door and in whatever shape they are in. Ideas? I'd love to hear them.

Blago Trial
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) Hearing what the jurors have to say, they were pretty close (11-1) on some counts. But it sounds like the jurors were confused with the evidence and time line the government presented. I'm confident on retrial they'll tighten things up, maybe present fewer witnesses, and try to be more clear in what they're presenting. One thing seems pretty clear - they all didn't buy the "Blago is just a loud moron" defense. I am wondering if Blago is smart enough to cut a deal now and if it would be accepted. His hubris may get in the way. I just do not see this going to a second trial.

Removing the Fourteenth Amendment
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 05:45 AM) And the pensions are being stripped back more and more every year. My dad just lost $300 per month from his.

Removing the Fourteenth Amendment
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) That's what pensions are for, right? (serious question - teachers are highly pensioned) There is widespread fear that there will be an immigration bill where illegals will be given full citizenship and apparently social security will be amended to allow people with no service time to receive retirement benefits. Presumably, the law would be illegal if it specifies former illegals only, so it would also open the door to anyone who isn't vested to quickly become vested. I find it hard to believe that elected official will bankrupt social security to allow newly created citizens these benefits, but many intelligent people do believe it will happen.

Coach Tex
The number one goal they have for the program this year is to increase participation. That's why they approached me. Gee, I thought it was because I was all-conference in college. The soccer has me a little intimidated but basically I have to follow the HS's system.

Coach Tex
I received official word today that I will be coaching 7/8 grade Cross Country this year. I will also be coaching 7th grade girls soccer and probably 8th grade boys soccer. I am holding out hope for golf but the coach has done a nice job but is waffling if he wants to come back or not.

92nd PGA Championship at Whistling Straights
The local rules that are given to each player prior to the tournament clearly stated they were to be played as bunkers. But yeah, that really sucked.

Removing the Fourteenth Amendment
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Please, tell all of us peons what we apparently don't realize. One agenda is: MEXICANS are going to steal your Social Security unless you vote GOP But I'm guessing Kap has a different one

Removing the Fourteenth Amendment
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) Ok. So now lets see manditory health care. Dropping the SS issue? One thing before we move on, we all need to remain vigilant that your real fears are not materialized. I doubt the Dems would be stupid enough to somehow try to pass a change to allow credit for SS service while being an illegal. Only those years worked under their own SS# should count. Nothing retroactive. Any change to that should be met with extreme resistance IMHO. On to health care and if you don't mind, every other government program. Again, someone has to work these jobs. Whomever is working the job is eligible to receive benefits. The job and income, not nationality or citizen status, determines the benefits and taxes paid. Those benefits, in the case of our lowest earning jobs, are greater than the taxes paid. A documented, US citizen, is most likely to understand and apply for those benefits. That is one reason we have illegals, the government prefers illegals from a taxes paid / benefit model. Attempts to increase mandatory minimum wages are usually met with GOP resistance. And this also highlights how dangerous the decline in political debate has become in this country. You are an intelligent person, but your understanding of the SoSec facts were as off as mine. We hear from political leaders and others that this or that will happen, but the reality is much different. It's all about emotion and reaction. My gut tells me it must be a Dem political invention.

Removing the Fourteenth Amendment
Oops, it seems that SS's post disappeared. In response to some illegals would not contribute enough to cover the minimum SS benefit. 11 years service and their minimum is $36.90 for an individual $56.10 for a family. 20 years it goes up to $380. available at http://www.ssa.gov/cgi-bin/smt.cgi So if someone becomes legal, works a minimum wage job for 11 years, they will be guaranteed $36.90 per month. I can live with that.

Blago Trial
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) Trib clarifies - they are sure on 2, deadlocked on some, but have not yet begun deliberating on the wire fraud counts. Judge sent them back out to deliberate those. This jury seems to be making a career out of this case

Removing the Fourteenth Amendment
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Except that the lowest rungs aren't going to pay in enough to cover the costs for their benefits. I can't find that at the SS site either. I did find this

Removing the Fourteenth Amendment
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) But there is a minimum. For example, people who have mental illness and cant' take of themselves don't pay a dime in and draw a lifetime of benefits. There is a minimum benefit that gets paid no matter how much is paid in. If you grant amnesty, there are going to be people who will be eligible to draw SSI, who may never have paid in because of their status as an illegal. Is there a proposal somewhere to change the vesting requirements for SS? As it is now, you have to have 40 quarters of contributions to qualify. The Social Security website http://ssa-custhelp.ssa.gov/app/answers/de...vbll6cHFyN2s%3D offered this If your example is correct, wouldn't teachers, who never paid in, receive benefits? Clergy? This would mean a "stay at home mom" at the age of 65 work a year and receive benefits? Or a teacher could work 40 years paying into their retirement, retire, than work a few months or year and receive benefits? If that is true, it should be changed.

And that's a White Sox winner !!
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) The standing O he got as he walked out was amazing. And by the bullpen he looked legitimately shocked people knew his name and were cheering him on. Fans were trying to help the kid as much as humanly possible. After each inning, fans behind the dugout were standing a cheering. The ovation after the third was as genuine as I've ever heard for a player. When Lucas came into the dugout after the sixth I thought he was going to have to make a curtain call. Special stuff. Sad that no matter what he did, he was going back down.

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) If you searched the database, how many COOP WILL FIX HIM posts have there been since they days of Loiaza and Marte? I would guess hundreds, if not thousands... You have to subtract a lot of those which were posted in green, and still more that should have. I'd guess maybe 25% were serious, if that. "Coop will fix him" has become a cliche'

And that's a White Sox winner !!
Hairbanger's Ball at Gate 4 before the game, great game, awesome fireworks show after the game. Scary park and ride at the Howard Street red line station. Perfect evening.

Harrell Optioned to AAA.
I was watching his pitch count and thinking he wasn't going to go four. Once he settled down a bit, things got to be fun. There were a couple heart stopping moments, like the warning shot out. It was nice to see the beer shower he received after the game.

My locked penis syndrome
It is all about alignment. You need to turn you head to the left opening up the pipe and widen your stance. It also helps if you pucker your lips and inhale slowly. This works best as long as there are other men at the urinals. or Wear dark colored pants and sit very quietly.

Taking a fan to their first game at the Cell . . .
We should have taken the red line, we arrived a little late. The seats where fine, but it took a moment or two to get comfortable with the UD. We went down to the 100 level and visited with Steff for a few minutes. Friday we're in the 22nd row, so we are looking forward to that. We are planning on spending some time around the park before the game and taking the red line.
