  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 07:18 AM) Yeah I like that one. Really brings out the spirit of the bill, no? Yep, 14 people in a van not speaking English is a routine thing here. The cops will spend all their time pulling over my neighbors and no time on anything else.
  2. So speaking English will help assure your rights as a citizen? QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 06:48 AM) If nobody spoke English and had no ID, the same thing. Tex, I am all for going after the 'other' class of illegals as well, the ones that overstay their visas. So if Dilip, Vladimir and Svetlana are here illegally, boot them out as well.

  4. If it was 14 white looking people with out ID what would you do? QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) The bill requires immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and requires police to question people if there's reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally So, if they pull over an old van packed with 14 hispanic looking people in it for speeding, nobody speaks english and they don't have a drivers license or state issued ID, you don't want them asking if they really belong here?
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) So, bumpity bump. The right wingers are making fun of Obama and Joe taking three airplanes to NYC for earth day. Hey dumbasses, get the hell over it. They're entitled to it, and move on to issues that matter. Funny how this came up only a week or two we talked about this. This shows I'm not a hypocrite. It shows the real partisan crowd start throwing rocks and see if enough people join in. And you illustrate my point of how it ends. People telling their own party to stfu. So when it happens to a GOP leader the Dems need to stfu and remember Obama and Joe.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 24, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) I'm all for the demand-side changes, and penalties being made more severe for hiring or transporting illegals. My only concern is there needs to be some proof that the business knowingly hired an illegal. Imagine if a store clerk would be arrested for accepting a counterfeit bill. Same thing here. If the business has complied with all the necessary proof of the right to work and later the documents are proven to be good or great forgeries, I think it is wrong to prosecute them.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:48 PM) Ah yes, distraction from the fact that the Federal government has completely failed in the area of immigration for generations now. I agree, they have failed. It was clear for years, even before Reagan, that we need a guest worker program. But the government knows that adding millions of low wage earners to the tax rolls is a tough financial pill to swallow, not matter who is working those jobs. Since illegals can come from anywhere, and the better educated illegals work the higher paying jobs, Arizona should start their campaign by checking all educated people of european ancestry for papers. Imagine catching someone earning $60 or $70K a year. I still have a few friends out of work that could use that job. So far they haven't been knocking down the doors to be migrant workers in the agriculture industry.
  8. slumping is still my feeling.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 09:53 AM) I really think this is one of the major problems, he is not in sync with AJ at all, he shakes him off about every pitch. There are a few possibilities, but it would seem to me there is a lack of preperation happening here. And not to bring up old crap about AJ, but wasn't that the complaint the pitching staff in San Francisco had about him? They have to go into the game with a plan.

  11. I am still troubled by the no pre-existing clause. I see a potential for abuse. If someone decides to not have insurance, then is diagnosed with cancer, they can then buy insurance. Insurance is based in part by having the people that do not get sick pay for those that do. If people just wait until they have a major problem, it runs the cost way up.

  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Unless you get kidnapped, shot, stabbed, etc. I'd certainly regret doing it more than I would've regretted not doing it. Which can happen driving home from a Sox game.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Yeah, it was the legacy his dad left... Its also very questionable if Daley would have been half of the Mayor that he was if he didn't have his machine in place, and a part of that is corruption. The machine and the man is one.
  15. Back to the days where the Sox filled in the time between the Bulls/Hawks and the Bears

  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 12:09 PM) Anybody ever travel abroad by themselves? Is it recommended? I say this because I am most likely going to study abroad in Hong Kong Spring 2011, and I really want to explore Asia, possibly other places before the semester begins (it starts late, on Feb 1st so I would have about 3 weeks to travel, depending on how much I want to spend). I would go with someone but I most likely will not know anyone traveling there at the same time, and none of my friends will have the time or cash to do it too. I do have friends from Taiwan and other places offering to let me know where to go, and I have no problem traveling alone, just dont really know the whole international traveling alone thing. Go for it. It may be risky, maybe foolhardy, but live life. You will always regret more the things you don't do than the things you do.
  18. They remotely deactivated key features, which means they could have tracked it and recovered it much quicker. Why would they even allow it out of the lab? As secret as they are, this time they allowed someone to walk around in public with a new version of the iPhone? Sorry, this smells of a marketing ploy. And kudos to them for it. It is unlike them to do it, which is necessary for the ploy to work. Brilliant
  19. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) How many did you rummage through until you found the right one for the right price? Sorry brother. Shows how much you know, they're all too expensive
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 09:22 AM) Apparently she doesn't mind guys who haven't showered in a week. I'm a lucky man. I will always remember laying in a tent, a storm howling outside, the tent bending to almost breaking, collapsing down on us, and she is laughing .

  23. Amazing to me, I was never banned there even after posting that George was being dumb in a proclamation. Basically in 2005 as the team was cratering, a few people got out of hand about the team will not make the playoffs. He responded by threatening to ban them if the team made the playoffs. I told him he had it backwards, that they should be banned if the team did miss the playoffs, who wants their "I told you so" at that moment. About 6 or 7 people jumped in wondering how fast until I was banned. lol. It has been about 4 years since I've even looked at their site.
  24. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) Then they suck. Sub equal parts Pussers and Appleton V/X. Or, give Kraken Spiced Rum a try. I have yet to try Kraken but I'm dying to. Lots of rum folks who eschew commercial brand spiced rums on principle have raved about the Kraken. Just keep your eyes peeled for the El Dorado 5 year, or for Lemon Hart 80 if you get it by you (I don't). Even if the stores you stopped in at don't stock it I bet someone near you does. I literally have to go to about a half-dozen stores to find the whole range of what makes it into the area. Just called four more, there isn't any El Dorado available near me. I recall seeing the Kraken Spiced Rum. I should put together a master list and just hit the stores and mix to what is available. I also just realized they may be more available in Mexico. Maybe I will take a run across the border. Are there any Cuban rums of note? Ones that would be unavialable in the US.
  25. QUOTE (Ranger @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) I can completely understand it. He's an afterthought in that lineup with very little pressure. Here, they asked him to use his high OBP and be a leadoff hitter. He couldn't handle it. In NY, surrounded by that lineup, he could hit .150 and nobody would care. While I generally agree, in NY, they care about everyone. NY fans needs something to b**** about.
