J4L is headed for the slammer
QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 9, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) I'm not sure where some of these guys got the idea that CC is cake, but it's not. It's a scum ridden place full of gangs and criminals. The first thing you're going to notice is everyone sectioned off into their specific gangs/groups. You will quite often see whites with whites, blacks with blacks, mexicans with mexicans, latin kings with latin kings, etc...and no, this isn't a joke. So just go wherever you happen to fit in and keep quiet for a few days, because I highly doubt you're going to be in solitary for the duration, you will probably spend quite a bit of time mixed amongst them. You will get parolled early (probably after 4 days) as long as you're not a jackass that draws attention. Don't forget, Sox fans with Sox fans, Cub fans with high bidder. "I'm somebody's b****!" I was mistaken before, I thought CC meant Community College. Seriously, ten days in solitary may be better than five in the gp.

Michigan Democratic Delegate Deal - unconfirmed
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) It's a joke that she would think she is deserving of the 100% vote. The fact that she could only get 55% when all the candidates with a true chance took their names off the ballot says a lot. WHY ARE WE CONSIDERING ALLOWING THESE VOTES WHEN MICHIGAN VIOLATED THE NATIONAL PARTY RULES AND KNEW THEIR VOTES WOULDN'T COUNT!?!?!?!? WTF WTF WTF I hate Hillary! Because there are actual people in Michigan, hundreds of thousands who took the time to go vote. Good honest Americans who decided on that day to be part of democracy in America, regardless of what a handful of party officials did. In this country we have a deep respect for each person's vote, and will leap over any hurdles to make each and every vote counts in some way. It truly is one way we are so different than most other countries, we'll move heaven and earth for even one voter. Some states have all or nothing primaries, so that option is not without precedence. Assuming a vote for "A" is really for "B" is tenuous at best. It is a long shot strategy, but W. Clinton was a long shot and won.

Student Hacks Into School System
I expected to be in the minority on this one. Once I saw where he was going and what he was majoring in, I guessed it wasn't some kid looking over a teacher's shoulder and snagging a password.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 8, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) I just got done cleaning my room very thoroughly. The part that took the longest was taking out all of the keys on my keyboard, and cleaning the whole thing out. It's the first time I ever cleaned it, and I've had it over 4 years now. I'm sure there are plenty of jokes about what could've been in there, but it was freaking dirty. I hope that was more than a $10 keyboard.

Better Candidates
Up until today, and it is still to be seen, we do want out Presidential candidates white, Christian, male, and with some link to the common man. Perhaps that is why we enjoy that tossing out of the first pitch, bowling, fishing, horseback riding, etc. The candidates carefully control that image. I believe that opening up the candidate pool, by opening up the gene pool, will be the #1 thing we will do to improve our candidates.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:01 PM) Sadly I have become more and more addicted by the day.And to think at about 300pm I was honestly saying to myself Iam getting kind of bored with posting...what time is it now? I thought you were saying 300 post/minute which is the usual ss2k5 burst.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 8, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) Tex I see you have the lightweight powerful aerodynamic bicycle but I hope you are still keepin it real with the banana seat. Absolutely, and a sissy bar and the 5 speed shifter on the frame. Green and yellow I miss that bike. I was seduced by a 10 speed with those drop down handlebars. Something like this

QUOTE (Gene Honda Civic @ May 8, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Cheat rides handmade titanium (which hasn't seen the light of day this year thanks to Chicago weather) and old school steel (which has been getting plenty of cold-weather action). Cool. BTW, congrats on 14,000 posts- Ozzie quote in the Sun-Times today
I'm guessing that little thought bubble could be placed above anybody listening to Ozzie . . .- Bikes
- Procrastination is not good.
FWIW, when I was working on a career pathways project for the So Tex Manufacturers Association, one of the skills that was mentioned that distionquished most college grads from non grads was the ability to function under deadlines. So while you were learnin' whatever, you were also developing a life skill. (at least that is what you can tell your parents) One of the differnces between being in college when I was 19 and today, is I almost never wind up in those time crunches. Just like I now fear the hangover, I fear the too many projects and too little time.- J4L is headed for the slammer
http://www.francesfarmersrevenge.com/stuff/prison/index.htm- Greg Walker yet again leads Sox to worst batting average
The only conclusion I have come up with this organization's steadfast devotion to Walker is they approve of the approach and the players believe it is the best approach. Players are not going to bet their careers, season after season, on a bad system and the team is not going to stick with a guy teaching a method they do not approve of. So they must have supreme confidence in the Walker Method, and believe it is the players who are not producing. The players somehow have bought into it as well. Perhaps Walker has gone to the Scott Boras school of influence and getting people to do things not in their best interest.- Better Candidates
QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) G. Bush I was actually a pretty good candidate...but I suppose he didn't campaign well, so maybe not a good candidate. He was a good president as far as I'm concerned (way better than Bush II) I think his biggest struggle in getting reelected was he was just too tired. He also signaled in various ways he did not want the job. That was offset against a young and charismatic opponent and he was toast.- Michigan Democratic Delegate Deal - unconfirmed
Believe it or not, this is probably more legit then when the parties got together at a convention, and in closed door, smoke filled, backroom, deals. Made or broke careers and politicians.- Michigan Democratic Delegate Deal - unconfirmed
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) Exactly. The amazing thing is, this actually hurts Hillary. Because his margin ahead of her is so big compared to the amount of delegates left, all this does is move it closer to completion. Could be Obama driving the bus, which is what I thought first. Great offensive move on his part.- "The Reaper is a-coming, kids."
Speaking of blogs, I believe we all understand what they are, and are not. Should they be stopped?- Michigan Democratic Delegate Deal - unconfirmed
I'm just not happy with changing the rules in mid stream. I am also not happy with delegates not having their voices heard. So there was no win anywhere that I saw. Those that followed Michigan closer please chime in but, it seems like Michigan would have been a Clinton state and in a straight up, "normal" primary, it would be fair to say at that point in the campaign she would have won. I know that you could not point to anything to "prove" that statement, JMO- Better Candidates
I don't think it is quite that bad. What we have is a system where people can buy access and all it offers. The party people, for reasons both altruistic and for personal gain, want a member of their party in office. They have to be convinced that that candidate can win the election. This parallels what you are saying. Not that they would be a great leader in that position. Who among us can win? So the parties, if given a choice, would take someone who would be bad in that position, but who can win, over the better person for that job, but who may have a tougher time winning. Like it or not, for many people high up in the Dem party it isn't "will Obama or Clinton be the better President" it is "who can beat McCain". And how often, before the GOP was finalized did we hear McCain and his supports claim he should be the nominee because he had the best chance to beat Clinton?- Better Candidates
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) They may very well. The fact that you have to spend an inordinate amount of time raising funds has kept many a solid candidate away, because that's the dirty part of the job. But the other side of the token is...the media and money can also help prevent better candidates from winning. Agreed. Managing money and media is a huge factor and winning today.- J4L is headed for the slammer
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2008 -> 07:47 AM) Good to hear. Learn your lesson and come away a better person for it. That is the most important thing you can do with this situation. Even better if a few more people learn a lesson from his mistake . . .- J4L is headed for the slammer
