  1. Skylark is an awesome dive/hipster bar that's not terribly close to the stadium. Same with Maria's/Kimski and Bernice's. The easiest thing is definitely to hit Cork/Turtle's and walk to the game as the previous poster mentioned, the other options require more planning and special trips.
  2. Boy, you are the strawman slayer today. Who's taking a "victory lap?" Everyone can read the standings. It is a positive sign that the team has been playing well for a few weeks. Maybe that will continue and they'll win the division (I hope), or maybe they'll fall back into playing .500 ball and they will miss the playoffs (I hope not). A better question: why do you feel like it's your duty to rise up and smack down fans sharing objective, positive facts about the White Sox...on a White Sox fan board of all places?
  3. OK. I don't really see anybody here arguing fans "don't have a right to be upset" about anything. If they do, though, I think this will come in handy.
  4. Getting Robert back will help there, hopefully that happens soon. The thing that a lot of posters are missing, though, is that it's not really about the Sox "turning it around" anymore. They're already playing better and have been for some time. If they keep playing like they have for the last 6 weeks they win the division.
  5. Perhaps the poster is excited that the team has been playing pretty well for about six weeks now, that they just played one of the best games of the year to beat a top MLB team, and hoping that they will make a late season move after a slow start. You know, normal people shit.
  6. Clearly a typo - he meant to say popping off and gripping
  7. Yes, huge. Which team are you rooting for?
  8. That’s like 8 over .500 since the beginning of July. Let’s go boys—shut some people up
  9. Any new info on Robert? Will we see him for the Houston series?
  10. Sweeping a series is always a good thing. The Sox have played good teams pretty well this year—seemingly okay better than against crappy teams, really. Hope they can at least split with Houston then go in and take the series from Cleveland.
  11. 7-page game thread. Good day, Sox!
  12. I hate doubleheaders and the shitty lineups and pitching decisions they inspire. This would be a nice time to break through the doubleheader-split-default that seems so powerful with this team, because if we can make some hay over the next couple series we could find ourselves in 1st place pretty quickly.
  13. I don't think the gate workers are scrutinizing the content of t-shirts for the FO's benefit, you're good. They only scan everyone's ticket in my group about half the time.
  14. Leave her alone. She's just stating a fact that's very oblivious. More than she probably even knows.
  15. Yes, obviously. Including you, apparently.
  16. Bobbleheads. My kids have become obsessed. We plan around them.
  17. Great - when am I supposed to get up and go to the bathroom now?
  18. Excellent numbers with RISP - good to see!
  19. Last year I never felt like we had a real "ace" I was confident could shut a team down in the playoffs. I feel like we have that this year, so far. Bodes well (if we can make it there).
  20. Another series win. Haven't lost a series in a while. That seems good
  21. My feelings are ok, not sure how one can jump in “late” in a 1.5-page thread, and while I appreciate your attempted reframing, the exchange is pretty clear. Someone pointed out that Soxtalk complainers complained about the 2005 deadline move and said the team wasn’t good enough. You jumped to those 2005 complainers’ defense: “16.5 game lead too, nearly lost our lead and our fifth starter ran out of gas. Fans were right then too, always are, vs the people that pump sunshine into this shit group.” Saying fans were “right” to doubt the sufficiency of the 2005 Sox roster and deadline moves — when that team went on to win 99 games, dominate the playoffs, and win the World Series — is absurd. (Let alone the suggestion the fans “always are” right. Ha!) In fact, it’s as close to indisputably wrong as you can get on a baseball message board.
  22. I hate when rain delays ruin starts. They should just delay the start ffs
