  1. I dunno, I feel like Tony’s grandmotherly, pear-shaped frame fills out that swaggy Southsider uni real nice
  2. Um, no it wouldn’t. Um, that would be the greatest thing ever. This is the kind of thing I imagine overly-online, perspective-warped Soxtalk posters *thinking* but not actually saying out loud. Talk about “obtuse.”
  3. Sox gonna put up more runs than pages in this game thread
  4. What a great series win — on the road against the hottest team in baseball. Weird that with all the disappointments of this season the team seems to play better against quality opponents than they did last year.
  5. Rick should just not pick up TLR's calls and text back after a few of them with "sorry, been crazy busy." That process should buy at least a couple weeks
  6. I agree that we need to go 17-10...unless we need to go 20-7, or 8-9, or some other record to win the division. There have been so many arbitrary mini-season record "requirements" declared on this site and they've all blown up, as always. We're two games back with 27 to play. That can play out in a lot of different ways. I'm just taking it day by day.
  7. Snapped Ms’ 7-game winning streak, and on the road. Now let’s give Cueto some run support for a change and take the series.
  8. I just love our rotation this year in a way I haven’t in a long time. Just hope we get a chance to put it to playoff use.
  9. God I hope so…if they bring him back and the team falls apart they will alienate the fans in a way they’ve never experienced.
  10. Looks great! How do I get these different themes? Mine only shows the light/default available…
  11. The only thing that gives me hope about tonight is that it looks nearly impossible that we'll win.
  12. I'd add Hendriks and Kopech (when healthy and not recklessly run out there to pitch injured).
  13. I think he was referring to "Yoan Moncada" rather than Yoan Moncada
  14. And 11 otherwise unrelated San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers
  15. I think we need a reality show with Dallas's mom, Wheeler's wife, Ozzie's sons, Giolito's dad, Prince Fielder's girlfriend, and Manny Machado's cousin.
  16. This has been my motivating thought all year (I've made no secret). It's especially maddening for me because I actually predicted a terrible first half with a big turnaround in the second, so I've been holding the line for a long time waiting for it. My theory was that this team was indeed undisciplined, poorly-coached, and unmotivated, but that the schedule would create its own urgency eventually and that -- combined with returns from injury -- would fuel the turnaround. As recently as a week ago it really felt like that was exactly what was happening. I'm starting to think that there is something more deeply wrong with this team that might prevent the turnaround. But I'll still torture myself waiting around.
  17. I think there's an argument that the Sox won 93 games largely because of their stellar performance in the early season before Tony's influence wore them down. It did seem like the character of the team started to change for the worse right around the beginnings of the TLR controversies (i.e. Yermingate/not knowing the rules), and the team has been in the doldrums ever since. This team was really fun in 2020 and May/June of 2021, which also happened to be the time it played well. It has been a weird, joyless, error-prone .500 team since.
  18. By the way, along with the famed "triple play" baserunning gaffe that's two games *Adam Engel* of all players has single-handedly cost the Sox, half the Division deficit. Another thing I did not have on my 2022 Sox bingo card.
  19. We have plenty of time and talent to make up a relatively small gap. The worry is that there really does seem to be something deeply wrong with this team.
