You're still stuck in the same place. Where on earth are you getting the idea that I don't "take exception with" Tony LaRussa's criminal actions? I think what he did is terrible, I don't support the hire, and I think the organization has handled the situation as poorly as I could possibly imagine. Now back to the actual point. I now realize it was you who originally said TLR is a "felon" (two-time felon, I think?) That's false, no matter how you slice it. The statutes that restrict felons' voting rights, for example, don't have a category for "shorthand felon," or "felon depending on how you look at it." If you called TLR a "felon" in a court filing you'd be subject to sanction. You should just acknowledge it, but somehow it seems like you're still digging. That's your right--this is a message board, after all, not a court of law--but as a moderator you should try to do better in my humble opinion.

Say what? I didn't say anything about TLR (let alone OJ) being "innocent." I didn't defend his actions in any way. I don't even like the hire. With all due respect, you completely missed the point.

I'm well aware of all that. But "felon" and "felony" are legal terms of art with fixed meaning. You're either a "felon" or you're not, and he is not. If you want to say he's a jerk, fine. If you want to make a broader point about the legal system, fine. If you want to say that you think he's wrongly convicted, or that he was over- or under-charged, fine. But saying he is a "felon" is simply false, and saying so is not tantamount to anything--it's a statement of fact.

Tony LaRussa is not a felon. This is not open to debate. Next.

I will say that Syndergaard seems to be kind of a d*ck as well based on this whole episode (never had any opinion of him before.) Just reminds me of the likability of our roster.

It’s beyond bizarre at this point. Is Stone mentally ill? He’s not even saving it for negative fans, or even fans who disagree with him. He just tees off on people indiscriminately like he gets some weird pleasure out of it. Fine for a troll, but totally out of alignment with his media stature. I don’t know if I’ve ever had my opinion of anyone lowered so much based on their social media persona.

The latest tweet to trigger Bauer. He predictably rose to the bait and unleashed a barrage of defensive tweets from him and his agent...the usual self-own. While it would’ve been nice to shore up the rotation, have to say I’m happy to be able to watch this kind of nonsense from the sidelines.

I think a lot of fans are in love with the idea of adding "generic top-of-the-rotation starter" to this team right now rather than Trevor Bauer the actual, living person. Bauer happened to be the only free agent out there this offseason arguably fitting the TOR description, but Trevor Bauer the actual, living person comes with a LOT of extra baggage and a less than consistent track record of performance, last year notwithstanding. I was livid we didn't make a play for Strasburg last offseason. In retrospect I'm glad we didn't. Hoping I have similar feelings about Bauer in February 2022.

It is interesting that the Sox seem to have learned their lesson and stopped blocking the progress of young players by blowing money on meaningless veteran filler. I think they let the pendulum swing a little too far in the opposite direction at the expense of depth, but I'm excited to see the Vaughns and Kopechs of the world show what they can do.

How so? I don't think they have somebody knocking on the door to play right field, so they clearly needed somebody to fill that position (who was better than the statue we had there last year). It would blow the theory out of the water if they were dying to give Adolfo at bats, but I don't think there's anybody who's ready.

How can the media just flat-out ignore the outrage that was the White Sox offseason? Why can't our mistakes get the attention they deserve? Typical coastal media bias.
