QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 20, 2013 -> 09:18 AM) I went a couple weeks ago to Indian Boundary, a forest preserve course near O'Hare. It's a decent course, nothing special, but wow is it great when no one else is on the course. I played the front 9 with a small group and then played the back 9 on my own. I ended up playing about 16 holes on the back nine (and 2-3 balls each hole) because of the way the course is layed out. You can play a few holes and then take a 5 second drive over to a prior tee box and play them again. I did that twice in 2 places. Had a cigar, a few tall boys, and jammed out to some Spotify on my phone. It was great. I'll have to check that place out, I'm not to far from there. I played Columbus Park GC yesterday, a nice fun, easy course. My dad grew up playing there so we go at least once a year even though it's about 40 mins away for each of us.- 2013 TV Thread
I got through about 1/3 of that review and figured the rest of it sucked as much. I'm thoroughly enjoying this season, of course I have small complaints but it's a refreshing take on the books. And sex plays a huge part of the books, which were written by a giant nerd in Martin, who obviously loved putting his sexual fantasies into the books. So should anyone be surprised that most of the nudity is female related? Martin, and the show, still have male nudity and homosexual relations, it's not like he denies them or anything.- Nate Jones milks a cow, and Hawk rides a Donkey

QUOTE (Brian @ May 17, 2013 -> 10:30 AM) I'm just wondering if the show hit its stride in Season 2. Season 1 of Parks & Rec was bad and short as well but has been great ever since. Wondering if the same could be said for The Office. Yea I agree with the Parks and Rec comment, that first season was pretty brutal, the characters just didn't find themselves yet. But as soon as season 2 started with that rap by Leslie, you knew they were much more comfortable in their roles and comedy would ensue.- Do you know any animals that share/work together?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 16, 2013 -> 09:07 AM) You sound like a woman. GoT is awesome. I wish they'd cut out the pointless boobs so people like you wouldn't have that crutch to fall back on as your single line of defense as to why people like the show. I don't fit the typical fantasy-loving fanboy model either. I've never seen Lord of the Rings. However, I can say I geek out every Sunday (or more likely Monday morning at the gym with my tablet and a lot of sweat). But the boobs just make the show even better! We need more of Margaery's boobs, they want to pop out of those dresses so bad.- Midcentury Modern

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:42 AM) No idea Russ, but we have already made our plans for next year. It was a great time Just talked to a friend who mentioned going to it, sounds awesome. He mentioned that most of the vendors were filling the glasses all the way up instead of the 2 oz they were supposed to pour. I will definitely try to go next year.- AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!

Was at the game, of course my dad mentions the perfect game before that inning Awesome game by Sale, I've been fortunate enough that this is the 3rd time now I've seen Sale pitch and its been a gem every time.- Golfing Thread
Spending the weekend in SW Michigan with the family so my dad and I went out yesterday for 9 holes. Holy s***, finally found a swing that has corrected the slice by a TON. I knew I inside-outed the ball a lot before, so I've been trying to correct that, but I finally got it to start working consistently and actually feeling good as I swing through. Fairly straight shots and closer to the distances that I would expect. On top of that, my new irons are starting to feel a lot better, I pretty much made solid contact on 80% of my hits. Decided to go out to a driving range today to continue to work on both, kept feeling great. Suddenly, this game makes so much more sense- Books that made an impact. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) Somehow I never read Catcher in the Rye, 1984, Animal Farm, Of Mice and Men, To Kill a Mockingbird, any Twain and a bunch of other "everybody reads those in school" books. All very good books, I'd recommend reading them as for the most part they are really worth reading. Siddartha was the first book assigned to me going into high school (it was summer reading before the school year started) and I just couldn't get into it when it was assigned. I reread it a few years later and loved it.- Books that made an impact. Or, books that you couldnt quite finish
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) I never used Cliff notes. All of our teachers would make tests that you would fail if you used cliff notes, specific things in the books that the cliff notes would gloss over. There was really no point. And besides, by the time I had hit sophomore year, I had already read 1984, Animal Farm, of Mice and Men, The Great Gatsby, Flowers for Algernon etc. multiple times. I read the first three 7 years in a row starting in 6th grade. Yea, it was pretty easy for teachers to make quizzes/tests that spark/cliff notes wouldn't be able to answer. The only book I ever considered to just do spark notes for was Heart of Darkness, I just couldn't get into that one. Other than that, I pretty much loved every book we read, including a lot that many found boring (To the Lighthouse was one, some theater of the absurd stuff was interesting like Waiting for Godot).- Golfing Thread

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 8, 2013 -> 10:59 AM) I can't remember where we were talking about internet recently, but I'll post it here anyway. I'm debating whether to change my internet provider. Right now I get my internet through AT&T U-Verse. Cable is through DirecTV so no bundling of services needed. My plan is up to 12 mbps for $57 a month, including the modem rental fee. It looks like Comcast I can get the "Performance" plan which is speeds up to 25mbps for $29.99 for 6 months and 49.99 thereafter (plus 7 a month for a rental fee)...so an average of $47. Seems like a no brainer but a couple of questions: (1) How do people like comcast internet, and specifically the 25mbs speed (since I know that's a bulls*** marketing number and the actual speed is much lower). Any outage problems or bandwidth throttles? I don't do torrents, just web browsing and lots of movie/tv show streaming and occasional gaming. (2) Does the modem you have come with a built in wi-fi router? That's a benefit of the AT&T system, but for $10/month savings I could go buy a wireless router and still come out ahead probably. 1) Comcast has very good internet service, that said it still depends on your location. Overall, I wouldn't be worried about their speeds, they are typically very solid and I never really experienced prolonged outages with them. 2) Stop renting and go buy a modem/router combo set. You can look at the list of approved modems from Comcast, then buy it yourself. I bought a router/modem combo since I had to save on space, and it cost around $150 I believe. I have RCN cable, but I've done this with Comcast in the past. They really don't care if you buy your own, they'll just ask for the model number to verify it's one of their approved ones.- 2013 Video Game Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 7, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) Is there a hosting company that can host sessions on games like this?
