    2015 TV Thread

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 03:29 PM) Does anyone have trouble signing in through your tv provider for Fox Sports Go? I am trying to sign in through Directv but it keeps telling me I have the wrong password. This has happened to me on other sites as well, anybody know how to fix it? They are using some form of SSO I'm sure (probably SAML), it all uses your DTV login credentials so it's either an issue with your account there or they are having issues with their SSO platform.
  2. Ah yea that makes more sense, probably the line of thinking, besides the suspense building, is that the Sons of the Harpy aren't a trained army so they lack true discipline to do something like that initially. A better way to have done it is to have a big rush of them and then Drogon come in and save the group.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) Even worse, before Drogon shows up the Faceless Men decided to attack solo, despite having the group surrounded and outnumbered. Clearly the best strategy. They also must have run out of CGI money. Holy crap was that whole scene terrible looking. I mean the stadium/crowd was fine, and some of drogon on his own was fine, but her flying was so bad. 80's tech bad. Don't confuse the Faceless Men with the Sons of the Harpy, way different groups (Faceless Man is what Arya is trying to become), just an fyi. And why wouldn't one sneak attack be a bad choice? See if one can get by while people's attention are on the pit? If that failed, which took an epic spear throw by Jorah, then they bum rush them which is what they did. They easily would've had Dany if it wasn't for Drogon.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) Thought that was a pretty piss poor episode. Worst scene: "We received a threat in the form of my niece's necklace in the mouth of a snake" "That necklace was stolen from me!" *glares* very subtle. Like I said, Dorne continues to be a terrible storyline, but I thought the rest of the episode was good to great. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) Yea, I thought Ramsay would have a more sinister attack in mind than setting some tents and horses on fire The gladiator scene was awesome though. Except the part where everyone was in peril and Dany flies away while Mermont, Daario, and Tyrion just watch. The attackers just decided to stop trying I guess He had 20 men and he destroyed all their supplies, siege weapons, and killed hundreds of horses. That's a pretty damn good attack.
  5. Well Stannis did it, he finally went overboard. The Dorne storyline continues to suck. The Wall is going to be a bloodbath soon, does Jon "die" in the next episode? The Jorah/Dany/Drogon scenes were pretty cool, a little shocked Hizdahr zo Loraq was killed. My guess is they continue to speed up that storyline and it's no longer about saving Mereen but more about getting the hell out of dodge.
  6. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 3, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) Yep I can pretty much vouch for that. Occasionally I've actually had to show proof that I have a return ticket home, in order to get the whole 90 day Visa Waiver thing. For the original thread starter, maybe it's just that way at the Chicago Airports. Whenever I go through LAX, it's usually a 5:1 ratio the other way around, so I end up having to wait 90 mins or so just to get through customs (which if you have a connecting flight is a nightmare). It might just be a Chicago thing, I can safely say I was not the only one just shocked by how bad of a process it is here.

    Job Hunt Thread

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 18, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) Interviewed last Friday for the supervisor position of my team, went really well but I don't think I'll get it due to my lack of experience. They are hiring internally, and I know 2 other candidates (not sure of any others) that also went for it, one of which is buddy's with the hiring manager. If he gets it I'll be pissed, I don't think he was even qualified enough to get an interview much less the job, if the 3rd guy gets it I wouldn't have any issues since he deserves a chance. The waiting game definitely sucks. Well I didn't get it, which isn't a shock but it's disappointing. And while the feedback was 100% positive they gave me no reason why I didn't get the job nor anything to really work towards.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 3, 2015 -> 09:41 AM) going to Eurpoe for two weeks on Sunday, thanks for the heads-up! Enjoy the trip!
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) Is that as a citizen or a "US Resident"? The US puts non-citizens through hell. Well the non-US citizen lines went 2x as fast as the US citizen lines. We may not get asked as much but they are sure more efficient at getting them through.
  10. I went through this process at O'Hare last year and now again yesterday at Midway, the process for passport/security check of re-entering the US as a resident blows. Someone (or some company) clearly made a great pitch to "automate" this process with those self serve kiosks, only for security to still require a real person to ask the same questions. So the US check requires a kiosk visit and then only has 1 security personnel to ask the questions (literally the same ones). The international line has like 4-5 security personnel. So as a US resident you get in line for a kiosk and then wait in a long ass line to go talk to that one officer. f***ing insane that they bottleneck the US process so badly, and the kiosks do absolutely nothing that the security officer doesn't ask anyways. How the hell did this get approved and implemented? Almost every person in line was amazed at how bad it was.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 1, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) See to me, this confirmed that Jon Snow is Azor Ahai. The way they panned to the Night's King after Jon defeated the White Walker seemed very telling to me. Really good episode, phenomenal fight scene for being a television show. Yea that's the theory TaylorSt and I have been talking about, if it doesn't go that route than I would be stunned at this point. And if the other part of the theory is of Jon Snow (son of Rhaegar Targaryean and Lyanna Stark) then I love that match even more. Bringing together the house of Fire and Blood with Winter is Coming to create Azor Ahai reborn, just fantastic.
  12. Speaking of Jon Snow and coming back, he'll need Melisandre around for that, so how does she come back to the wall? Does Stannis send her back pissed about wanting to use his daughter? Does Stannis get defeated in the next episode and she returns herself? Does she see a new vision that makes her think that Jon is really Azor Ahai reborn ("all I see is snow")?
  13. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 31, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) Full of spoilers for the people that read the books. "Jon Snow always comes back." Yup we caught that immediately, if it doesn't go that route now then I would be shocked. Great great episode last night, of course there were the nitpicking things like "WHY IS NO ONE PADDLING" but that whole portion was done well. The whole valyrian sword scenes were perfect, when Jon killed the white walker we pretty much went nuts. The exchange between Tyrion and Dany was great as well, the writers do some characters just so well. And if the fighting pits scene is next week I would imagine that we would also see Dany take off then as well with Drogon. I'm interested to see what Jorah does.

Has anybody watched The Last Ship? I caught about 10 minutes of a random episode, it intrigued me.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 26, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) I'm sorry man, but no one predicts successes 100% of the time. Should every GM be fired for a bad draft choice? If you play with guys who had character issues, you are going to get burned...no doubt about it. If you want to beat up the Bears, beat them up for taking the chance and instead of a stance that they shouldn't take a chance. Don't beat them up because you want them to take a chance but they need to be right 100% of the time they do take that chance. It is an impossible bogie. From an internal perspective, you should do your diligence up to that extent if you are going to take a chance, but you should also know that no matter what, if they had past issues, future problems are a possibility and probably a probability. And I bet you Pace learned a lot about how to handle these situations, skip the bulls*** parent stories and just say it was a football decision and it's a 2nd chance for McDonald. If he screws up then the team releases him with no penalty and McDonald is out of a job.
  16. Alright so looks like Tyrion will replace Barristan as ruler of Mereen when Dany goes off.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) Is financial risk the only one here? Is there a PR risk issue? They also have a potential fine of $150k from the NFL front office for now having signed 2 people with law-enforcement issues, that fine could increase if anyone else gets into trouble. If they didn't do the whole BS thing about reporting talking to his mom and crap then it's not really much of a PR hit, they set themselves up for this. But every team signs guys like this, it's the NFL.
  18. Well it's a GM's job to make sure he is looking out for the best of the organization, but the fact is they signed him to a non-guaranteed contract and let him go as soon as he got in trouble again. While I agree that the initial character statements by the organization were stupid, this was absolutely a solid football move (low risk, high reward).

    Grilling

A couple quick grilling recipes that I like and use often: Pork chops with McCormick Steak and Chop seasoning, this stuff is amazing on pork. Just make sure you don't over cook the pork chop, it's ok for it to be rare and is so much better. Fajita chicken: In a gallon ziplock, combine lemon juice, fresh garlic, some salt and a bit of water (to dilute the juice a bit), shake well and then add chicken breast (chicken should be covered by the mixture). Let it marinade overnight, then grill the next day. The chicken will be super juicy and flavorfull, goes great with grilled onions/peppers on tortillas.
  20. One of our favorite pastime places, Crane's Apple Orchards and Pantry in Fenville, MI, started making their own hard cider. Their semi-sweet cider was the perfect balance, really really good stuff for just starting out. Went and got a bit of a buzz there and walked out with a dozen cider donuts to split with the family, couldn't be happier

  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 21, 2015 -> 05:51 PM) And I think most of you are completely wrong about Littlefinger's feelings towards Sansa. Dude is obsessed with her as she reminds him of her mother, the only women Littlefinger ever loved. He would definitely not purposely put her in harm's way, hell he killed Lysa without a solid plan in place to protect her. The idea that he would give her up to Ramsey Bolton is beyond ridiculous. Of course the show uses the "I've never heard much about him" excuse, which goes against everything we know about Littlefinger. This is a guy who is very calculating, there is no way he wouldn't have done his research on a potential marriage partner for Sansa. I'm fine with changes from the books, but this move go against his character and is stupid IMO. I don't agree with this at all, Littlefinger has had it out for EVERYONE since he lost the fight to Brandon Stark. He pretty much changed from a romantic to wanting to rule the world after that. Does he have some affection for Cat and Sansa? Sure, but it's more of him overcoming the past and another conquering victory for him than anything. Proof: (embedding is disabled on the video unfortunately)
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) Perhaps Littlefinger expected Ramsay to basically rape or degrade Sansa, believing that it will push her in a direction he wants. I'm sure he's aware of Ramsay's actions in the past and the Bolton family's current state, and because of that, I'm sure he's aware that both Ramsay and Roose know full well that they can't flay the last remaining Stark. I wouldn't ever expect Littlefinger to not know something, he definitely knew about Ramsay's reputation (it wasn't that big of a secret anyways). This is all part of his plan, maybe not the rape specifically but mistreatment of Sansa to plot in her head that the Boltons absolutely need to die and with her help. Littlefinger may be the best strategist out there now.
  24. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) I know it was a rape and all, but what did they really show that has people so angry? Maybe I wasn't paying close attention, but all I remember was Ramsay making her turn around and bend over, tear some of her clothes, and then Theon's face as you hear Sansa crying. That's pretty much it, the shock is probably moreso in that Sansa has been a pretty delicate character and has avoided most of the physical torment up to that point all for it to lead to marrying Ramsay/getting raped. Yes she was abused by Joffrey but for the most part she left "unharmed", only to end up with Ramsay.
