QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) Right...so the point is, if this is a place you really like, that certainly shouldn't stop you from buying it. I haven't even seen the place yet, it was just something that stood out to myself and my realtor when it came on the market. The 2nd bedroom is supposed to be small anyways, so not even sure if it's a really viable place, but it was one of the questions that I was asking myself if it was worthwhile looking into it more.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 12:26 PM) Let's be realistic here...Russ isn't going to do that s*** on his own Hahaha I'm actually fairly handy, but I would have to do it with my Dad since he has all the tools (plus he's wood-worked for most of his life, has built quite a bit of stuff from porch screens to kitchen cabinets). But you're right, I couldn't do it on my own since I have zero power tools

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) I'd rather have it be functional, not cut the wall off a few feet from the top. Even if one room was an office - when the person is trying to do work, and you can hear the kitchen, TV, etc it's distracting. It just seems so pointless so it "seems" more open/bigger. If you live by yourself I'm sure it's fine. Any roommate situation or using it as an office, nursery, etc...loses the functionality. I feel like this happens a ton. Oh man, this place is great! Oh, wait, loft style walls. f***. Yea I definitely get that, the weird thing is, the only wall that appears to not go to the ceiling is that one (there is a bathroom in between the two bedrooms as well). Every other wall though goes to the ceiling.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) It's to make it more open and feel bigger. If that was a single couple in there that used one room for an office and another for their bedroom it would be really nice. But for roommates it's probably not an ideal set up. Yea that's what I'm thinking now, it's too bad because the rest of it is really nice and is a very reasonable deal for the area it's in.

So there's a pretty nice place that I'm just thinking about at this point. It's part of a newer construction (2008), and it's on the top floor of the building. This is pretty nice since it's got high ceilings and everything, but they have this weird loft-style set up in between the bedrooms: If you can't clearly tell, the wall stops like 3-4 feet short of the ceiling, which I assume allows every sound to pretty much go over. Considering it would be myself and another 23 yr old male sleeping in each room, sound proofing would be pretty important Anyone have experience or an idea of cost to either: 1) put a wall there 2) put sound proofing material there I have no idea on the expense for something like that.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 03:24 PM) Closed on Monday, moved in yesterday...just got the internet hooked up, satellite is next...everything is starting to come together...this place is amazing...although I am already cringing about the water bill...i think we have about 100 different sprinklers coming off and on and all different parts of the day. Did it end up being the initial place that you talked about? With the previous owner's business manager getting in the way and all?

I'm down for a separate GOT thread in general.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 03:10 PM) Seriously, I see no reason why the GoT book talk can't go in another thread or in the book thread. These items are separate. If it needs spoilers, it doesn't belong in the thread regarding the TV version of GoT. But it's very much in relation of talk of where the show may go, it's not strictly book talk this time.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 02:11 PM) That's just too obvious. I feel like Martin wants to come up with some crazy scenario that nobody will have considered.

  13. This is not an argument that you'll win, because she's 1) Fighting to fight clearly 2) Thinking she's fighting the good fight for all women In terms of the women not being allowed to play, look at all the stories you hear about girls playing little league baseball and such. Yea, they may be able to play with the boys at that young age, but as soon as middle school/high school rolls around they can't keep up anymore. And look at the NCAAW basketball teams, they practice with guys who couldn't even walk on to the men's team. And from what I heard, those guys would more than hold their own versus the women's team. They have those guys in practice because they are better, to make the women players better.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 08:03 AM) Overall, Martin may kill off characters but he brings in a lot of new, interesting ones.
  15. Sad to see Illinois lose the other day, I'm pretty amazed whenever Illinois makes the tourney.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 06:00 AM) I'm the same way. I've been told I have a baseball swing and not a softball swing. Have never been able to change. Same, in practice I can launch the ball, but in games if I try and do that I'll just pop up so I go back to my nice baseball swing and hit liners all day.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 07:33 AM) You guys play by the fitness center? QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 10:06 AM) BG Softball is played at 801 Mchenry road. Really nice fields, I have only played there a few times but I like the setup Yea its just down the road from the fitness center, right next to the golf dome there. They are really nice fields, and the league is fun. I love watching the A-league games, those guys just go up there and smash the ball all day long. And there's this guy on one team that was just the biggest asshole yet he was hilarious. He was on deck, his teammate grounds out to end the inning. As his teammate walks by him he just goes "Thanks, dick."
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 31, 2013 -> 03:36 PM) Wednesdays or Thursdays Im in the Thursday league.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 31, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) What team are you on? Like I said I have a group of buddies that play up there, maybe I will cruise up there if you guys play each other Mad Men, let me know if youre stopping by!
  20. Playing in Buffalo Grove's 12in C-League on a work team, we have some good players (about 3-4) that could be in the B-League easily, but the rest of the team is pretty bad. 1-2 right now, but we're getting better, the biggest thing is just getting the good players to show up to every game and not relying on the guys that clearly didn't play much baseball/softball growing up.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) I have been the owner that has let the dogs run up to other dogs/people before and it has never been intentional. The first time, it was my sister's dog (she has two but this was her male). A guy came out of his house and was loading up his truck and the dog took off after him (I'm pretty sure because he thought he was my brother-in-law). He's a gentle giant though and wouldn't do anything, but I corraled him, got him inside, and apologized profusely right away. The other time was our dog, who growls and barks a bit more but usually isn't aggressive. A couple was walking a poodle looking dog and my dog ran right up to it and they got in each others faces, started barking, and I got in there as soon as I could. Got him in the house and apologized profusely again. For me, I just didn't think the dogs would run out, but they did, and neither of them have been outside of a fenced in area with me since that point. It's embarrassing as hell though. I had a similar incident, I was dog-sitting my friend's dog and he was the gentlest, best behaved dog we ever knew (never barked at all). My mom (who helped train him) and I took him to a nearby park, we let him off the leash and he immediately took off to a dog on the other side of the park. Fortunately he just wanted to sniff that dog and didn't attack it or anything but man he flew.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:44 AM) Okafor, Alexander and Black to Illinois. BOOK IT. http://espn.go.com/chicago/mens-college-ba...ight?src=mobile ( ) But we only have 2 scholarships open for 2014.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 29, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) The last report I saw was surprisingly positive for Duke and OSU. Sounds about right, imo his top 3 (in order): Duke OSU MSU
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 29, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) Jerrance Howard to Kansas? Were there rumblings of this before? There have been rumblings since he went to SMU from people that knew Jerrance and Self. Self is incredibly high on him.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 28, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) I wasn't sure if that was makeup or real. I was like GOB, it took me awhile to realize that was the same actor. They must've written that in after seeing him again.
