  1. Exhibit H01 in the case that SOXTALK is predominantly driven by Dems. I'm just sitting back & enjoying the show. I left Texas before the re-districting took place long ago. But I was there when it was being talked about & having actually been to GOP conventions down there (it's a much more publicly active process than in IL) I was gleaming from ear to ear when the plan was being formulated. I agree with Texsox (no surprise there). Texas is NOT IL. GOP gets the benefit of the doubt in the majority of the populace. It's a Red state thru & thru. Even when the Dems did have control they weren't the kind of Dems you see in IL. They were Dems dipped in Red. The real challenge for the Dems down there (from what I've heard) is that they are losing the immigrant votes. Traditionally these have gone to the Dems but in Texas there's a trend that says things are moving in the opposite direction. Texas is expected to be predominantly Hispanic in the next 50 yrs so it's not a good sign for the Dems. Apparently God means more to these people than the ACLU.

What can I say? If the opposition wants to continue to lower it's numbers through neutering, contraception, & abortion who am I to stop them? Selfishness amongst secularists is unnatural which is why evolution works against them
  3. America the beautiful. In the predominantly leftist community known as SOXTALK I'm considered to be a member of the right wing. Yet in the greater whole of America I'm considered a moderate that leans to the right. I believe Miers would fall into my group. I believe most of America falls into my group. I believe the future of America is moving into my group. So what if Miers supports gay rights? I support gay rights yet theres not a single SOXTALK member that would confuse me with a liberal. Gays should not be economically disadvantaged because of their sexual behavior. No group should. Does that mean I am in favor of gay marriage? No. Of course not. Marriage is much more so a cultural distinction in our lives than a government one. If the cultural distinction should move in that direction than the time will be right to propose it. But that is clearly not the case today. As such the government distinction should be weakened over time seeing that the government distinction NEVER should have arisen in the first place. Likewise on abortion. Again RvW. It's done! It's over! It's history! The abortion issues on the table for the USSC are whether the court is going to uphold the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Law & whether the court will uphold the Violence Against Mothers Act. These are both congressional acts. They are not acts of legislating from the bench. They clearly define & regulate the right to which a woman can seek an abortion. So why even bother asking a RvW question? But the media LOVES the left vs right battling in America's government. It makes for good theatre & entertaining journalism. The moderate is rarely heard. When they try to speak the media is quick to try & categorize them as either Left or Right. The middle is boring I guess.
  4. This is complete & utter crap propagated by atheist secularists who are grasping at straws now to stem the tide of what I will refer to as the merging of Occidental with Oriental religious beliefs. This is what atheists have always feared because the merging of these two belief systems are greatly strengthened with the economic power they wield. Specifically America with Christ & Japan with Buddha. More to the study it completely ignores a distinction between being devoutly religious & culturally religious. Every source of data I've read that does draw this distinction denotes the devoutly Christian or Buddhist follower to be the highest standard of citizen with respect to crime & civility on the planet today. There is no question that Arab terrorists & those that are militantly devout in following them give religion a bad name. But even when you consider the billion plus Muslims in the world a faction of say 10 million represents at best 1/10th of 1%. The other 99.9% are pretty kewl people. The real enemy in the world today is NOT born of a faith or a philosophy. They are people who for whatever reason choose to live selfish lives indifferent to the people they impact. Those reasons could be born from life experience or from something they just take to that they've read. It's pretty simple when you think about it. A culture embedded in selfishness is simply going to breed more selfish people on the planet. A culture embedded in generosity & kindness is going to breed kind people on the planet. When you consider that secularist thinking since the industrial revolution has led to far greater acts of selfishness, greed, lust, genocide, & every other imaginable horror the world has seen religion looks like a MUCH better alternative. I'd rather live in a world with a fighting chance to see peace emerge admist bloodshed in the Middle East & cities affected by terrorists who are fighting against that cause than to live in a world run under the emergence of the 4th secularist reich.
  5. Either the Angels are so rich in pitching that their cup floweth over or they are stupid. Since they won it all in 2002 (unlike the Cub in 2003) I tend to believe it's the first one.
  6. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/trainingcamp...d=2182500&num=0 Isiah's Folly: Why Curry trade makes little sense for NY By John Hollinger ESPN Insider Archive Thus, the Knicks didn't just give up Michael Sweetney and Tim Thomas. They also gave up an insurable contract, multiple draft choices, and the increased risk of a free-agent departure -- all to pay more money for a player the Knicks essentially already had in Sweetney: a high percentage-shooting big man who is in less-than-ideal shape and struggles on defense. But it seems that Curry's perceived potential has blinded the Knicks to all the potential pitfalls.
  7. It's free so don't complain ... (NANA HEY HEY KISS HIM GOODBYE) rtsp://real.vitaminic.com:8080/new/vitaminic.com/a104/00104037.rm
  8. NA NA HEY HEY (KISS HIM GOODBYE) http://www.vitaminic.com/cgi-php/get_file....odo=4&bid=66839 For White Sox fans the "HIM" is every pitcher & every team that stands in our way from being World Champions!
  9. You all must suffer my fate: http://stage.vitaminic.com/donna_summer/ Give it a listen .. let it drum in .. let it haunt you. :lol
  10. Yes. But you must click on this link & play the nana heyhey kiss him goodbye song a 1000 times! http://stage.vitaminic.com/donna_summer/ :lol Everyone should have that tune cemented in their head during this run .. LIKE I DO !!
  11. I have a massive headache today with the "na na hey hey kiss him goodbye" song drumming through my gray matter. I can't shut it off! Not a phone conversation or a person speaking at the house last night was without at least one verse from the famous song of White Sox nation.
  12. If we read between the lines the decision between El Duque & BMac came down to Ozzie getting Cooper behind him. It was Coop & Oz against Jr, Kenny, & most everyone else. I can't imagine Cooper backing Ozzie with Marte. I think we'll see BMac & with it looking like the Angels in the ALCS I think the biggest debate will be Blum over Gload. Greater LHB strength should rule over addeding IF fielding depth against the Angels.
  13. I agree Kap. I think sometimes Sox fans focus on the negatives & ignore the rest. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/sto...gene&id=2183947 By Gene Wojciechowski ESPN.com The better team not only won, it dominated. And nothing against the winner of the New York Yankees-Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Orange County get-together, but if the White Sox aren't favored in the AL Championship Series, then the oddsmakers need CAT scans. How can you doubt a team that forced the Red Sox into a playoff 0-fer, that pitched better, fielded better, managed better, ran better and, pardon the grammar, clutch-hit better? You can't, which is why the White Sox will reach the World Series for the first time since 1959. And when they do, remember why. His name is Orlando Hernandez. He pitched three of the most important innings of the White Sox's season, giving up just one hit and striking out four. And he did it without complaint.
  14. Protecting the innocent, SOXTALK was born out of the reluctance of another community to give a little in the opinion department. As great as the CEO's ego of SOXTALK is it pales in comparison to another. If it hasn't happened ye,t one day SOXTALK will become #1. Then all of us who where either banned or fed up with the alternative will have the last laugh.
  15. Immediately following the ALDS in Boston writers started speculating that Konerko could be their future 1B. They even mentioned a bidding war with the Yanks. I say it's not going to happen. Koney has done enough this year to become the most popular baseball player in Chicago. He's done enough to position himself to be the #1 sports endorsement candidate for Chicago. That's worth at least $10M/yr. Niether NYY or BOS can promise him that. It won't be there from the start. Not with the marquee players already established there. He would have to earn it all over again. In Chicago he could have a subpar year in 2006 & it will still be there. The team's success only enhances his personal success. Unlike Sosa & Ordonez, Konerko is fluent in English & his interviewing skills have really blossomed this year. There's no reason he can't become the #1 sports talking-head in Chicago. I hope Konerko realizes this. I suspect he does. The White Sox don't need to outbid the Yanks & BoSox to retain Konerko. They just need to make the total package of remaining in Chicago look much more attractive than the East coast. Sweeping BOS in the ALDS just made that a whole lot easier.
  16. With El Duque, I suggest we enjoy it while it lasts. By all accounts he's likely to be 43-44 yrs of age. In comparison look at Lieter. Aging is a humbling experience for a ball player. With respect to the 2006 White Sox the rotation & closer roles are set. Jose, Mark, Freddy, Jon, & Brandon with Jenks as the closer. Hermy, Vizc, Politte are givens. Cotts is sure to re-up, & El Duque is signed. Lefty-Righty doesn't mean much for El Duque. With him in the bullpen it's like a 2-for-1. He enables you to battle the season with 11 arms & 14 bats. That's ideal for the White Sox. I hope he's happy in that role.
  17. Say no to Manny. Konerko is the face of the White Sox now. If he can hit HR's in the ALCS & the WS the Sosa-starved bopper fans will flock to Konerko. He's the best chance to grow the fan base out from under the shadows of the Cub. I think the White Sox know this as well. More Chicagoans identify with Konerko than any other player on both teams. He speaks the language well
  18. As one of El Duque's biggest supporters here at SOXTALK I am beaming right now with joy. What he did last night was the stuff of legends. Dream the impossible dream. Live the impossible dream. Consider the scenario: Manny hit's a HR off Garcia to bring the BoSox within 1 of tying the game. Marte loads the bases without getting a single out. One of Boston's best hitters (Varitek) at the plate with a chance to put Boston on top. El Duque retires the side with 3 very hard fought at bats in Varitek, Graff, & Damon. The kind of at bats that usually end up in walks or hits against normal pitchers. But El Duque is anything but normal. Not only did he get 3 outs without surrendering a single but he did it with pitches out of the zone. I can't think of any greater contrast in a single inning than Marte & El Duque. Marte is a thrower. El Duque's a pitcher. The difference between them can not be measured in speed, strength, matchups, or age. The difference is that one is crafty & pitches against the hitter. The other pitches against the zone. It's pretty obvious who's who. Marte like always it seems once again barely missed the zone. In his mind & in Ozzie's the umpire was squeezing him. But even Ozzie can't ignore the fact that the BoSox weren't swinging at Marte's barely missing stuff. They knew better. It seemed everyone knew better except for Marte. El Duque arrives on the mound & knows better. He knows that he needs to make pitches that the BoSox will bite on. The zone doesn't matter. He succeeds masterfully. He peppers the BoSox with rising fastballs that appear in the zone but rise out of it. He peppers them with sliders that look so compelling to hit that by the time it's obvious they will drop no hitter can lay off them. Numbers are fine for measuring greatness of skill & talent but they can't measure greatness of mind. I think El Duque even taught AJ something last night.
  19. The White Sox Road Warrior: Freddy Garcia. Some of you knocked him & Kenny when we got him. But I knew he was EXACTLY what we needed. The reason why the White Sox didn't win the division from 2001-2004 had little to do with play at home. It was the road record. We were abysmal in those years. Enter Freddy Garcia. Road: 2004 8W-4L 92.2IP 3.59ERA 1.21WHIP .237BAA 2005 10W-3L 119.0IP 3.40ERA 1.13WHIP .247BAA Day: 2004 9W-0L 66.2IP 2.43ERA 1.08WHIP .214BAA 2005 5W-3L 90.1IP 3.49ERA 1.25WHIP .260BAA Hollywood can't script a better scenario for the White Sox. On the flip-side here are Wakefield's Home & Day numbers. Home: 2005 10W-4L 110.1IP 4.08ERA 1.22WHIP .240BAA 2004 06W-06L 113.2IP 4.99ERA 1.35WHIP .268BAA Day: 2004 3W-3L 52.2IP 6.32ERA 1.52WHIP .309BAA 2005 6W-4L 76.0IP 2.84ERA 1.08WHIP .221BAA Garcia better be at his best!
  20. Yesterday I mentioned that statistically the MN for beating the BoSox is 4R. Generally speaking that's the best their staff can do: limit the other team to 4R. So if you hold their offense down to 4R you've got a solid chance of beating them. See Wed game.
  21. Yes. They are that type of team. If you score more than 4 against them chances our it will be several more than 4. How loose is Ozzie? Ozzie: “I said, ‘Look, I’m going to bring in a 70-year old man (Orlando “El Duque’’ Hernandez) to close the game, and you bring your fat man (Bob Wickman). You got one bigger than mine (Bobby Jenks). Back and forth like that."
  22. Let me clarify what I said in reference to this game deciding the series. This is a must win for Boston. If they don't win tonight they will likely get swept. They do not have the pitching to come from behind 0-2 & 0-3 like previous years. It's not a must win for the ChiSox because they DO HAVE the offense to scratch out wins with good pitching. But it is equally important in that a win tonight guarantees Bos vs Contreras on Sun @ the Cell. Regardless of what happens in Bos it will be very hard to diminish the momentum the ChiSox will have going into that game following Tues rout. If we lose tonight then pschologically every Red Sox player can go to Boston thinking they have good enough matchups to end it in 4 & avoid having to go back to ChiSox & face Contreras again. That's a HUGE momentum & pschological shift for the World Series Champions.
  23. Someone said in a thread earlier "it feels like Christmas!" I emphatically agree. The anticipation for victory feels very much like that of when you were a kid & dreaming of getting that present you coveted so much. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/mlb/red-sox/ As an adult the joy comes from reading out of both the winner's & loser's circles. Enjoi ! Aside: I'm collecting papers from all the cities the Sox play. Transplanted friends are helping out. For this series that includes Time, Herald, Southtown, Trib, Bos Herald, & Globe. At year's end they will be sealed in plastic & preserved as keepsakes. We did the same thing with the Bears & all of the Bulls championships. It's fun!
  24. I think you are completely dissing the momentum shift if they were to win today. They have Wakefield vs Garcia in Boston & Schilling vs Garland in Boston. Their starters only need to pitch as good as 7IP/4R for Boston to have a chance to win the next 3. Our starters need to pitch as good as 7IP/3R. On the flip side if we win today .. that kind of momentum behind Garcia & this club is very capable of producing a sweep against Wakefield.
