What's funny about all this is that some of us here at SOXTALK have been talking about how the White Sox could clinch before the MN drops to 0 for over a month. Yet the major media all but ignored this. Now they're acting like this is a surprise. Has ESPN even put the White Sox on their MLB front page yet?

I for one never doubted this team. You can tell that by signature. I felt going into ST this team had what it needed to win the division. Adding a healthy & productive Big Hurt made me think we could win the World Series. Well the Big Hurt was sidelined & that opened the door for the Indians but having looked at 2nd place teams making pushes late in previous years that effort is physically & mentally exhausting & hard to maintain. I felt the Indians would falter just enough down the stretch. Going into the series I feel good about the team. Our greatest strength & greatest weakness is Jurrasic. If he gets hot we should advance to the WS.

I care. I do NOT want to have to open against LAA. If CLE wins the WC, that's what's likely to happen. It matters not what any one thinks about the ALC. The best in the AL will make the playoffs: LAA, NYY/BOS, BOS/CLE & CWS. Reaching the WS this year means you beat the best.

We need 1 more win for ALHF adv. The best LAA can do is 96W & the best NYY can do is 97. The first tie-breaker is H2H. CWS & NYY split. I believe the second tie-breaker is divisional records. The CWS has the advantage.

No. No. No. What we want is to knock CLE out of the playoffs. That will give us the ALHF & more importantly an opening series vs BOS or NYY. I do not want to open with LAA. I am hoping either BOS or NYY can get lucky & knock them out.

Dude! GO CELEBRATE! Your original quote was wrong. A 1 game playoff for a division crown ONLY comes into play when the loser is out of the playoffs. The only scenario where that can happen is if the loser is runner up to the WC team. The best the Indians can do is 96-66, & the worst the White Sox can do is 96-66. If the NYY go 97-65 they would win the ALE & not the ALWC.

:rolly Once again they are NOT crimes. That is your opinion & clearly it's biased as you do not have enough information on these allegations to form an impartial one. For there to be a crime there must be a police report filed & an arrest. A victim &/or witness to the crime has to come forward in a timely manner for such a report to be filed. Then the police decide whether there is sufficient evidence warranting an arrest. If a victim or witness takes years to come forward it may be to late (statute of limitation). In any case the Church has an obligation to work with authorities on the same level that the baby-killing PP does. No more, no less.

With a win today the division is ours because the WC can not finish with a record better than us. That means H2H decides the division & we own CLE. The reason the WC can not finish better than us is because you add 2 L's to either NYY or BOS for their final series. That's 67L. With a win today the worse the CWS can do is 66L. So today's game in DET is for the ALC division crown. GO WHITE SOX !!

Wow! First they want to condemn Bush for not doing enough & now they want to condemn him for keeping the Army Corp of Engineers & supporting Natl Guard in New Orleans.

The first point is obvious. It mentioned no distinction of want or how. It simply stated a common sense fact. The second point is equally obvious. It requires no explanation. How many more decades will go by before you realize the "start at home" argument is a losing one? It's obviously not happening & it's not likely to happen any time in the near future. :rolly What we have here in this thread is a lynch mob mentality. These are just allegations. They are NOT crimes. There needs to be sufficient evidence before they can be called that. But I'm not surprised at all this mentality exists at SOXTALK.

If we split with the Tiggers & the Rays sweep the Tribe we win the div. The numbers favor that scenario happening. In that scenario we can knock the Tribe out of WC contention.

My mistake. I thought I saw Yahoo put the CWS at 94 loses. They have only 93. That puts them 2 games up in the loss column on all 3 if they all lose. We are 2 wins from clinching the WC & 3 wins from clinching the DIV. With 3 wins there is no possibility the WC team can finish better than the CWS. So H2H will decide the division in the event of a tie.

Why do you think there won't be a 1 game playoff if either BOS or NYY & the CWS finish with 67 loses in the WC race? I think the Devil Rays will sweep the Tribe at the Jake. They've shown no weakness there this year. So in that respect it won't matter.

Again the key to the WC is the fact that either BOS or NYY will lose two more games. So assuming they all lose one of them will finish with no less than 67 loses. The White Sox can still lose 3 & clinch a tie for the WC.
