I would say to them look at Russia & China. Once capitalism takes hold there is no turning back. One can only imagine the impact on the Middle East if Iraq should embrace both capitalism & democracy. America's greatest threat in the region remains Iran. In Iran capitalism is already moving many to seek to democracy. A democratic Iraq would only further strengthen their efforts. The best way to weaken the Jihad is to convert it. For better or worse the new religion is American capitalism. Alive & well in all nations of the world including China.

Murdoch is such a shrewd business man. We watch the BBC & have never found that to be the case. But of course he wants Sky News to be #1 there just like Fox News is in America. No doubt Sky News has a fair & balanced angle to it. A great tool in marketing that angle is to use anything you can to paint your rival as being unjusty unfair & biased. Aside: BBCAmerica is a pretty cool channel. Big fan of Benny Hill

Finally. Justice is served. Any news on World Com?

It's an interesting approach. Applying RICO to illegals. It undoubtedly will go through a lengthy appeals process but if upheld it could change the way states across America deal with the problem. It's amazing how statutes designed to apply solely to organized crime in America have been broadened to include pro-lifers & now businesses supporting the hiring of illegal workers.

A society void of a strong sense of morality will veer inevitably to corruption as the norm. Change can only begin in our morally decrept school system.

The school views homosexuality as an immoral act. The government should stay out of the issue of what is or is not immoral behavior. That should be left to the community in which someone resides. The government should only be concerned with what is criminal behavior. Discrimination on the basis of immoral behavior is NOT the same thing as discrimination on the basis of sex, race, or creed. A person can control their immoral behavior. If their happiness is dependant on it then they will likely be less happy in doing so but it doesn't change the fact that they can exercise restraint. Likewise immoral behavior resulting from a creed would follow the same logic.

It's loosely based on a true story. Pretty much everything that happens to the girl did really happen. The film of course exagerates some of it. But she did eat bugs & experience weird contortionist fits. She was not a contortionist. The main differences are: 1) Germany. The film chooses IL. 2) The priest & parents were found guilty. Served about 6 months. The film choose to just convict the priest & shorten the sentence to time served. 3) The doctor who witnessed the event did not die in a car accident. What I thought the film lacked was a journey into Emily Rose's mind. There lies the potential for great special effects sequences featuring horrific evil & a personification of the demon that possesed her. Something we've yet to see in an exorcism film. Maybe they'll figure that out in a sequel.

For those of us who are more rational & conservative minded please explain what it is you are protesting against. Is it continued assistance to the Iraqi government? Do you believe in a nation's honor? How does it look to the rest of the world if America were to turn her back on Iraq? Though 25% might want us to leave, 75% want us to stay. Have you learned nothing from the Hamas attacks on Israel? This comes at a time when Israel was pulling out & conceding the Gaza strip. Do you still believe that peace in the middle east is possible w/out democracy & capitalism? It's ok to have ideals but at some point reality should enter the picture & rational thinking should take hold.

Oil services & real estate. I've doubled my $$$ in 3 yrs. Work is no longer a neccessity. As for the profits by refineries .. who can blame them? Thanks to the environmentalists we haven't had new refineries built since 1970's. Yet look at how much demand has increased. The Kuwaiti government has offered to fit the full expense of building new refineries in America. Now it's a question of whether the environmentalists will let it happen. I'm as big an environmentalist as there is but you can't just keep ignoring problems in your idealism. America is on course to hit 350M in population in the next 30 yrs. You can't ignore that reality. You have to plan for the energy needs of that population. So work out a compromise. Outlaw sales of cares with < than 25 mpg in exchange for more refineries. Do we really need late late night TV? Going dark a few hours a night on all channels would help provide for prime-time energy needs at a lower cost.

It would be interesting if it were true, but it's not. I suggest you look at some sites that publish average teacher's salary's & administration salary's around the nation. Why in IL alone we have principals with total compensation pkgs close to 400K/yr. We have some suburban districts with admin avg's close to 6 figures. More $$$ was not the answer in the past, it's not now, & it won't be in the future. The problem still remains the disparity of income levels between administrators & teachers. I think few tax payers mind paying teachers more. But when they read the reports in the papers or on the internet that the avg admin is making more than the avg teacher they get upset. There's no justification for that. It's simply a sign that the beuracracy remains out of control. Given the power of the teacher's unions (NEA, AFT, etc.) it's pretty obvious they don't care. You don't see them lobbying for reigning in the admin salaries do you? So the only rational & logical approach is to create more competition. Hope that over the long run the beuracracy collapses under it's own weight in the face of competition. Where does the competition come from? Long distance learning, home-schooling networks, private & parochial schools. Of course it requires some legislation & regulation to streamline. You can't simply offer a school-voucher for a parent to send their kid to the best school in their district (public, private, or parochial) without it. The regulation would essentially classify secular classes from religious ed & provide assistance for the secular only. We can see evidence of the most innovative colleges jumping on the bandwagon of long-distance learning. Did you know you can give your child a K-12 Stanford education? It's true. It's not to hard to realize that over time those kids who graduate from Stanford K-12 will have the inside track on applying to the University. As for a liberal education itself .. please .. it's a joke. Write something to strong with wit & sarcasm & a teacher will ask you to do it again on the basis it was too "harsh". So instead you turn in a fluff piece. Thank God the paradigm is beginning to crumble after decades of abuse.

A little energy conservation won't hurt anybody. I'm in favor of escalated tax rates for the energy pigs in America. Let that $ be channeled into cleaner renewable energy sources.

93-61 CWS: 1vMIN, 4@DET, 3@CLE 92-63 CLE: 1@KCR, 3vTBD,3vCWS 90-64 BOS:1@BAL, 4vTBJ,3vNYY 90-64 NYY: 1vTBJ,4@BAL,3@BOS 85-69 OAK: 1vTEX,4vLAA,3@SEA 89-65 LAA: 1vTBD,4@OAK,3@TEX H2H BOS-NYY means a best case 96-66 for one of them. With 3 more wins the CWS can do no worse than tie the #2 ALE. I think that means a 1 gm playoff for the WC. tie WC: To avoid elimination from WC contention CWS need 3 more wins. win WC: To guarantee at least a WC spot in the ALDS CWS need 4 more wins. clinch ALHF: To clinch the ALC+ALHF the CWS need 6 more wins.

Whether it by GWB or any one else I would risk my life to save theirs. Considering I was once a scout lifeguard & the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ is my Shepherd I would undoubtedly be successful in my efforts. That alone would give me the biggest story of my photo-journalist life & probably exclusive access to the White House. Digital all the way. Those are the mysterious ways in which God works.

If we can't beat CLE regular season then we have no business making the playoffs. I believe this team can beat CLE & will beat CLE. It will ride that momentum into the post & win a World Series. I don't need to put that in green because it's all about the power of positive thinking. If you think you can win you will win! First things first. Go out & win today & put the Twinkees on the verge of elimination. The EN for the Twinkees is 3. CLE has no choice but to keep winning if they want to make the post. The Yanks & A's are keeping the pressure on them. If the White Sox play their best & the Indians play their best the White Sox will win.

As this season unfolded we acquired delusions of grandeur. Visions of this team playing in the World Series became a part of our nightly dreams. More important than the MN, RIOT numbers, schedules or anything else this season is the 6 remaining games we have against the Tribe. Anything less than a spilt creates a major momentum shift in their camp & a major let down in ours. If we win 4/6 then we will enter the playoffs flying high. The spirit force of White Sox fans will be living large & the city will be on fire for the PaleHose. I hope the players realize this. I hope Konerko realizes this. This is a defining moment for the organization & it's fans. A chance to break from a mid-revenue team to a high-revenue one. A chance to take the city back from the Cubs. If Konerko wants to be a part of that future then he needs to play his best ever here & now.

There was a time when Netscape was among the leaders in browers. Then AOL bought them. Now Netscape accounts for < 4% of the market. Firefox has risen to 7%. Both are based on Mozilla designs. If the Fed is serious about insuring competition then it should require AOL to sell off Netscape. What makes that all the more interesting is that the sell off might just mean Time Warner keeps it. Some DSL & cable companies have integrated their own browsers with their services. Time Warner still owns a signifcant % of the cable market in the US. Netscape would have value to them. I could even see them making a play for Firefox. Time Warner's TNT is the #1 cable network in America.

He has interestingly changed his tune with respect to affirmative action. His most recent viewpoints appear more moderate & in line with O'Connors. He may just be posturing but this should appeal more to Catholics & Christians in general.

Did you miss the green on those minor musicals? The Sound of Music is one of the greatest movies ever made. It's so uniquely special in the movie world.

The good news is that we are losing when we play lousy. That means we are still capable of winning when we play our best. There is still reason to hope. This team has not played below .500 in Sept in 5 yrs. I have to believe they will get it done.

My experience at camp in Boy Scouts was not pleasant. The elder scouts were psychos. Burning frogs at the stake, burning us, running our boxers up the flag pole, & harassment to no end. I can't imagine what a girl would be facing under those circumstances. If you're asking how did this happen it has to do with merit badges. Adults go off with the kids earning merit badges requiring adult supervision & the camp is entrusted to the 15-17 yr olds. It did not sour my experience & I went on to become an eagle scout. I still attend camp events when I get the time & they are short on adults. Needless to say I am ever mindful & watchful for psycho's like my troop had. Boys will be boys & a girl in that world is inviting trouble of a criminal nature.

Win 4/6 vs CLE & all is right in the world again. We've won 10/13.
