  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) Ok, now Mularkey and Tom Donahoe are starting to worry/infuriate me. Win some damn ballgames first, then worry about releasing trouble makers. Agreed I can't imagine what in the hell they're thinking about.
  2. Personally...when I think about parts of the game that debunk Pyth W-L...I think of good defensive teams. Minnesota was playing over their head every year from 01-04 it seemed, and people constantly called it luck. I don't buy it. The year they took a step away from being a very good defensive team and tried to improve their offense, they were a .500 team. I don't think it was any coincidence that losing Hunter's mediocre bat but gold glove in CF killed that team. The A's had a very large runs scored to runs allowed differential...thus boosting their Pyth W-L something crazy...but the Sox didn't have a huge one, and they won a ton of close games. You think that it was any coincidence these two teams were 1-2 in defensive effeciency?
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) So does this deal signalize no Frank to Oakland? If Swisher is moving to first base then I assume Dan Johnson will Dh meaning no room for Frank. I'd have to imagine so...unless Beane has something else up his sleeve. I am probably one of the few who likes Bradley...he has a questionable on the field attitude, and a questionable opinion...but he reminds me a bit of Carl Everett. In fact, I might say that he reminds me a lot of Carl Everett. Fiery and sometimes outlandish personality, the occasional dumb on the field incident, but he appears to have a huge desire to win. I like the move for the A's atleast in the short term, assuming it's not a huge prospect they are giving up.
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) You know, the guy's parents knew their last name was Bradley, and they still named the kid Milton. That's just mean-spirited. You can see why he is such a clubhouse problem at times.
  5. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) Just imagine the orgasms that Red Sawx fans would have over Schilling AND Clemens. I wouldn't be able to take it. I smell a promotion day Anyone older than Clemens and Schilling's combined age gets into the park free.
  6. QUOTE(KJean @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) I agree. There were plenty of articles during the season asking Joe what he wanted to do for the rest of his career and he always said he wants to spend all of it in a White Sox uniform. So, I'm pretty sure he'll do his best to stay on this team. So how much of that is just Joe being politically correct and not doing anything to cause turmoil with fans and the clubhouse?
  7. 2002 - 1.87 2003 - 1.36 2004 - 1.15 2005 - 1.36 Those are Vicente Padilla's GO/AO ratios over the past 3 years. Looks to me that he is a slight groundball pitcher. The past two years he's struggled have also been the first two years Citizens Bank has been in existence. It's a good trade for Texas, but I'm not sure I'd expect anything better then a 4.50 ERA.
  8. I must have been thinking of the 2001 injury. That would be my mistake.
  9. Probably a good career move for him. Reunites him with Matheny and allows him to pitch in one of the best pitcher's parks in the majors. For all the garbage moves Sabean has made over the past few years...this one is actually pretty good.
  10. I say we go to the XFL rules and allow players to put whatever they want on their back. Joe's name can be "He K Me" and his number will go up for each strikeout he gets.
  11. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) isn't it nice to hear all of the players say that they want to stay here? Awesome. After hearing about clubhouse spies from Foulke and Durham, to players not feeling safe coming here due to the fans, and to players just not wanting to stay period...it is very nice to see it all. PK staying, Thome loving every second so far, AJP wanting to come back...they just gotta get Jon and Joe some of that mojo.

    TEJADA

Miguel Tejada is probably my favorite non-Sox player(though I say that about a lot of guys I think)...but if he were to be traded to the Sox, I'd probly be a little pissed about the whole thing, due to how much KW would have to give up.
  13. You guys must not watch Jacques Jones play on a regular basis. An occasional timely hit( :finger Freddy's no-no), solid defense, inconsistency, and a knack for swinging at curveballs that start at his knees. He's mediocre as hell.
  14. Hell let them get Tejada. It would mean no Carlos insanity or Mark the Savior on the North Side anymore. I'm all for them dealing from a position of weakness, personally.
  15. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) Um he never actually head-butted that Umpire. I think he has probably grown up and I doubt he would do that kind of thing now. He was probably the leader in the clubhouse this year. Paul and Ozzie say "HI!!!!!!!!!!!"
  16. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Roy Oswalt has been the Opening Day starter in Houston even when Pettitte and Oswalt have been there. Mark should remain ours even if Jose went on to win 20 games. Loaiza took a back seat after 21 wins so I see no need to change. He is the face of the franchise (as far as players go) so he should remain the Opening Day starter No kidding?
  17. I'll nominate one from a group that is long gone, though the song itself was really pretty much just satyrical. Soundgarden - Big Dumb Sex Don't you don't you want to thrill me Don't you be afraid to tell me Tell me if you think it's ugly But now don't you want to touch it anyway I've been looking for a reject And you ain't had nothing like me yet Don't you think it's time for motion I can take what you've been pushin' Hey I know what to do I'm gonna f*** f*** f*** f*** you f*** you Ya I know what to do I'm gonna f*** f*** f*** f*** you f*** you I'm gonna I'm the beast and you're the master You're the meat of the matter I'm no fool for discretion When it's on the tip of my tongue Don't you don't you want to thrill me Don't you be afraid to tell me Tell me if you think it's ugly But now don't you want to touch it anyway
  18. I don't see the Tigers doing much. Kenny Rogers had the best year he's had in quite some time, and he's on the wrong side of 40, let alone 35 or 30. Todd Jones had the best year of his career last year, and is also quite old. I see the Tigers, at the very best, to be a .500 team. The Indians look fine, the Twins look good still too, especially if they can get Baker into the rotation over Lohse, and the Royals look atleast a little improved. It'll be fun next year.
  19. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Yeah but it was funny AJ's actually a pretty good actor Except that he was laughing through half of it.
  20. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) no he didn't. In fact the play he got hurt on was a play that he made a great leaping play on a Pierre chopper. He was also pretty good at digging balls out of the dirt. *coughIchirocough* I mean, it did happen in April...and Pierre has never played in the AL...and it also happened in Seattle...so I put 1 and 1 and 1 and x together to get 4, and sure enough, after a little simple algebra, the answer is easy peezy lemon squeezy.
  21. So because Tejada was a quitter, they don't want him on this team? Last I checked, yet Carl Everett was the DH of this team for a year and a half after he made some infamous comments to Doug Mientkiewicz
  22. I like how AJ gave the guy a slight nudge and he hit the mat like a ton of f***ing bricks.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) Some Podsednik bashing, Sox hating, Indian supporting.. He also bleeds Cubbie blue I hear
  24. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) Yeah yeah wiseass... that was in response to the poster who wouldn't want to give up Garland and/or Uribe. LOL...ya I kinda figured so. It will take a hell of a lot more than Garland and Uribe, I'll say that for sure. I think, with the exception of potentially another LH reliever, and a bunch of ST invites and NRI's, the Sox are pretty much done for the winter.
