AND THATS A WHITE SOX WORLD SERIES WINNER!!!!!!
witesoxfan replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) I love this f***ing picture... Picture > 1000 words -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 12:20 AM) What I wanna know, wite, is what the hell are you going to do for that #1 on your sig? I'll just leave that alone. LOL I have ideas...but I will wait to see what the moment presents. Nothing too dirty, I promise.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) You're one to talk. A-f***ING-MEN

QUOTE(Art Vandelay @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) Oh, I know!! My brother and I were yelling at the tv, "f*** YOU ASSHOLE!!" What a dickhead he is! Wish I could have heard that...or maybe I don't. I was too pumped about Podsednik's homer.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Encouraging illegal acts. You should be ashamed of yourself. :headshake I am. But aren't we all a little ashamed of ourselves at times?

If anyone knows for a fact they can duplicate them, send me a PM and hopefully I can then end up with atleast game 2 for sure...and if my game 1 didn't record, game 1 too. Actually in fact, I know I didn't get the first inning of game 1...so probably that one too. EDIT: Should mention, on VHS. I am not so up to date with movies and such, I know.
-
HAS ANYBODY TAPED THE GAMES? I taped game 1(I think it recorded well enough), but for some reason my dumbass didn't get to the store to by some more videos to record game 2. So if anyone has the games recorded so far...I would loveyoulongtime/pay for the video and shipping to get the game on tape somehow.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) Pods should get props for manning up, but cheesus lice, take off the f***in black and white shades once in your life and admit that he made a s***ty throw and that if he makes an accurate throw, the games over. I truly feel sorry for you if you feel this way. This is the WORLD SERIES, man. The fricking WORLD SERIES and he hit a game winning home run. In Chicago lore it's bigger than Bobby Thompson's. To complain ... you are a sick person! Ooooook
-
FWIW...I do think Manny throws him out. His number of assists is skewed...because everyone does run on him. However, to get those assists, you do have to make accurate throws. Perhaps some do not remember Manny in 2003. Someone, though I cannot recall who, singled to LF with Rowand on 2B. The ball was sharply hit, right to Manny, and Rowand was sent home. Manny of course threw accurately to home, and Rowand was out by quite a bit.

QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) So in the 7th game of a World Series, a player who has f***ed up the whole series hits a game winning walk-off HR in the 9th.. and you STILL complain about him? Since I'm complaining :rolly I'm just saying Pods should be receiving criticism for not making an accurate throw. I'm happy as hell he hit the homer...and like I said, he should get props for it...but he makes that throw accurately, and the game is over. Period.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) How can you critique a guy who WON THE GAME FOR CHICAGO? I dont give a s*** if he f***ing falls on his ass everytime the ball's hit to him in the field and he strikes out every AB before it, but if he wins the game, he doesnt deserve criticism. :headshake :headshake :headshake
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Does it matter if he made "the throw"? He f***ing won the game. Get the hell off of his back. You do not stop ragging on a player just because he hit a game winning homer. If he has a halfway accurate throw, the game never goes to the bottom of the 9th. Pods should get props for manning up, but cheesus lice, take off the f***in black and white shades once in your life and admit that he made a s***ty throw and that if he makes an accurate throw, the games over.

QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) But Cubs fans don't hold a grudge against the White Sox! :rolly

QUOTE(easyw @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) Near as I can tell, backi n April 2005, after the Montgomery Biscuits (AA-Southern League) sent him down to the Hudson Valley Renegades of the NY-League (Low A short season), he's been out of baseball. Both Crede and Bill Melton had a lot of priase for this guy's defensive abilities. What went wrong for him? Couldn't hit? Nose candy? what? I will foreward this post with a warning: I do not know a lot about minor league baseball. That being said...I do seem to recall he couldn't hit whatsoever - like a .210 hitter in the minors - but that he was just amazing defensively. I also recall the Sox trying to convert him to a pitcher to put his great arm(like a 95 MPH fastball from what I remember) to use, but that he was very stubborn about not wanting to pitch and wanting to play in the field.

Sportscenter just led with college football...

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 22, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) what the hell is your problem. It's like you have a freakin Vendetta against Michigan. Why can't you admit that they played well and that they might just be a good football team. Your incessant hard on for Michigan football is disturbing. -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 22, 2005 -> 05:29 AM) Can I ask, just because I'm a little buzzed right now and because I really don't have the time right now to do the research, how many of those homers led off the inning? Be it 1st inning, 4th inning, 6th inning, whatever inning...because I'm just curious. Last time I checked...you couldn't hit any more than a solo homer to leadoff an inning...so I'm just wondering. I decided to do the research after all. Of Sizemore's 15 solo homers, 8 led off an inning. Also, his 20th homer of the year was the second shot of back-to-back homers...with no outs in the inning.

US Senate Resolution to honor Shoeless Joe Jackson
witesoxfan replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 22, 2005 -> 05:10 AM) People that think he didn't wear shoes ( not implying you) is almost as bad as the people that think the sox got the nickname ''black sox'' because of what happened in the 1919 world series. Ya, they are. FWIW, which I'm sure is a well-known fact on Soxtalk, is that, IIRC, Shoeless got his name because he either caught flyball or he was running around the bases after he kicked off his shoes. They got their name Black Sox from Comiskey being a cheap POS and not paying laundry, thus their socks(or "Sox") remaining dirty, never becoming "white", but remaining "black." Hench, Black Sox. -
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) Watch out for Jeremy Reed for the GG in CF Normally...I'd say you should. With how quiet Seattle was in the media all year, being in last place...I am not sure if you should worry about him that much.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) You're right, Sizemore's solo HR's (15 of his 22) Can I ask, just because I'm a little buzzed right now and because I really don't have the time right now to do the research, how many of those homers led off the inning? Be it 1st inning, 4th inning, 6th inning, whatever inning...because I'm just curious. Last time I checked...you couldn't hit any more than a solo homer to leadoff an inning...so I'm just wondering.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) If given the choice, who would you take? Haren or Mulder Assuming we are not taking money into the equation(which the A's were doing), not taking into consideration the fact that Mulder is a free agent after 2006(which the A's did), not taking into consideration whether you are rebuilding or not(which the A's did), and not taking into consideration what Haren and Mulder would do this year(which the A's did NOT do), I'd take Mark Mulder.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Frank Thomas = future Sox manager. Believe dat. A manager has to be a team leader, a sociable guy, and one that is respected by every player on his team(I am more or less talking about the contract disputes he has had in the past)...those are all traits Frank does not have. You can be smart all you want to, but if you don't have the 3 traits listed above, you have almost no chance of being successful. If you want a potential future manager - look to Manos. He was a team leader(in fact, he was viewed AS the team leader when he was here), he's a sociable guy(almost everyone loved Jose as a person), and respect is earned through playing hard and following through on everything you are supposed to. I think players have a lot of respect for Jose.

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) When we first won the ALCS, my thoughts were "I don't care what happens now, I'm just happy to be here." More and more, however, I feel I will be seriously let down if they can't win 4 games against Houston. Not sure why that's happening; the more I think about it, the more I think Houston will roll over us. So, basically, we can declare the Sox World Series winners already? You've been wrong in (and I don't think I'm overestimating here) EVERY prediction so far this postseason. One more can't hurt.
-
QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) If he does, I don't think he'll look at it as a financially lucrative endeavor and settle for a very small contract....money regarding Frank won't be an issue, JR will do what's necessary to keep Frank in Chicago if he wants to reach that 500hr plateau. I've been screaming it feels like all year to bring back Frank to a Juan-Gone type deal...where he is only guaranteed the league minimum next year, but with incentives that he reaches, he can get in upwards of around $5-8 mill.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) Plus, I don't understand why Oakland has to make the playoffs when considering... ...that you are making the trade for the future, and not the present. The rest of what you said holds very true. I just look at that one key concept when viewing the trade - Oakland was not looking for the deal to push them over the top. Oakland won this deal in a landslide.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) Owens could be a good leadoff hitter, but it depends on how well he could hit at the MLB level, otherwise he's probably not going to be anything more than a very good 4th OF. It's a valid point...just a very, very obvious one. Just figured I'd give you a hard time.
