  1. Uribe will almost undoubtedly start, be it at 2B or SS.
  2. So you'd prefer to have Jose Valentin out there with an OBP less then Omar's average? Yeah, that's what I thought.
  3. OK, so maybe they'd finish in 3rd, behind Cleveland and Minnesota. Getting a MI is probably the second biggest need of the team(#1 being a starting pitcher). If we go into next year with Uribe-Harris up the middle, Beltran damn well better be patroling CF(or Drew in RF, either/or).
  4. To be quite honest with everyone, I think both St. Louis and Houston have a real good shot at making it from the NL. St. Louis has a good offense and good pitching, but Houston has good offense and good pitching. I think the team that scores the most runs in a game 4 times will win that series and will represent the NL. Madden logic>
  5. Nice point. You do have to take risks on guys sometimes...sometimes it pays off, sometimes not. The Sox took a risk that Uribe wouldn't get ice cold in June or July...and he did. He finished the year very nicely though. Another risk that could come to mind is trading for Jose Guillen...yeah, he could be bad for the clubhouse, but he definately busts his ass on the field, and can be an absolute monster at the plate. I wouldn't mind seeing Hairston brought in. He's a pretty good ballplayer.
  6. Jason, I haven't looked at his stats, butI will assume this is a typo... Considering he struggled with his control, and he didn't really strike out a ton of people, I'm just going to assume this is K/9 and not K/BB, because a K/BB of around 8 is flat sickening...and I know he wasn't sickening.
  7. One of the things Ozzie said he wanted was versatile players. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Sox try to snag EY. And Uribe-Harris up the middle = 4th place. So if you want that, go right ahead.
  8. Am I the only one who'd take Ahman Green over Thomas Jones in a f***ing heartbeat? I don't give a s*** about the fumbles, Ahman Green is one of the most explosive running backs in the league.
  9. I'll that that or Cardinals vs White Sox Then I'm happy
  10. I think you're a dildo. But maybe that's just your avatar
  11. And this post explains why we couldn't get AS MANY bargains that the Sawks and Yankees did. Red, if you want to look at it like that, every team had a chance to get Freddy Garcia this season...but only the Sox stepped up and made an offer. Every team had a chance to get Uribe or Shingo or Marte, but only the Sox did. Plain and simply, you can't look at it that way. Period.

    John Belushi

Since John Belushi has been brought up, I figured I'd like to let it be known that two of my older cats were named after Belushi characters...we had a cat named Jake, and a cat named Bluto. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
  13. 5 riddler I suppose it's probably because I feed on steak instead of those others.
  14. So Boston has a lot of fans. I've never suggested that they didn't. That doesn't prove that they are all die-hards. Never heard or read that one before. Guess you learn something new everyday. By your logic, almost all Cubs fans are die-hards too. The team wins and it's a classic ballpark. Those are probably two factors involved. Not because most of them are die-hards. Personally, I've never thought that...not because I dislike the Red Sox, but rather because I've always thought of the Cardinals fans being some of the smartest in all of sports. There are other factors that go into that. Those do not prove to me that Boston is full of a die-hard fans. I have opened my eyes, and I realize that there is no way you can prove that fan base A has the most die-hards, and fan base B has the fewest...it's unprovable, if you will. What you have told me is all good points...but what it tells me is that the fans will come out when the team is doing well...they are good, loyal fans...but where will they be when/if the Red Sox ever tank again? If a salary cap is created, and the Red Sox lost 100 games one year...would the fans be there? Would these figures and statistics still hold true? This reminds me a lot of the Indians run in the late 90s...the fans basically said we will never leave, we are die-hards, etc. 2002 comes, they lose 90 games, and the fans stopped showing up. Go figure, huh?
  15. I predict that Stephen Jackson will yell...a lot
  16. That's why I put potential in parentheses. It probably wouldn't create one in all likelyhood.
  17. You are probably right. And it's a shame. Not that people are tuning into the ALCS...it's a shame that they are not watching the World Series.
  18. I'd heard or read that somewhere too. I don't think he would though.
  19. Wow. Just wow RIP Ken BTW...its importance is low, but I edited the spelling of Caminiti
  20. Because by creating 1 (potential) hole by trading one of those guys, you can fill 2 or 3 other holes in the process. That's why.
  21. There is another team in the city that he loves. Even before creating this thread, I figured that he would end up Chicago with the Cubs.
  22. I agree with Zero. There's nothing that excites me about this series. I got enough excitement regarding the Sawks and Yanks when they met up in the regular season 19 times(felt more like 60 or 70 times), and I don't think any more games, regardless of it determining a World Series team, will get me that excited with it. These are about the two teams I hate the most in baseball, because they represent everything that is wrong with baseball. Because of these two teams, you either have to have a payroll around atleast $90 mill(and usually closer to $110 mill) to compete, or you have to have some insane scouting/front office sceheme that works like a charm(which is what Minnesota and Oakland do have).
  23. $60 including shipping? Wow...that's a hell of a deal. Nice steal.
