  1. I hadn't even considered him as a potential closer. That idea is crazy enough that it could actually work.
  2. Starting pitchers(leaving out Pavano and Pedro due to the price) 1. Brad Radke(will probably be resigned by Minnesota) 2. Odalis Perez(possibility he is let go, and I think he could be the sleeper of the offseason) 3. David Wells(has a little gas left, throws strikes, gets out, cheap, likes Chicago) 4. Derek Lowe(severe ground ball pitcher, and with a potential GG defense in the IF, Lowe could be very good for the Sox. If he signed with us, it would be a good idea to use Uribe at 3B, Harris at 2B, Gload at 1B, and Vizquel at SS...he could be lights out) 5. Jaret Wright(possibly cheap, decent starter, had a good comeback year...will probably resign with Atlanta) Middle Infielders(leaving out Garciaparra, Renteria, and other high priced MI's) 1. Vizquel(good defense, good hands, handles the bat, gets on base, cheaper, good stopgap until Uribe is ready to take over fulltime) 2. Polanco(limited range, good glove, very good with a bat) 3. Walker(see Polanco) 4. Eric Young(good range, decent arm, good glove, good speed) 5. No one...if they're this bad, you may as well go with Harris) Outfielders 1. Beltran(duh) 2. Jose Guillen(obviously, he's not a FA...but he's close enough to me...and he's a stud) And then the rest of Cheat's list, except Grieve
  3. No guys, we seriously did! Check it out! (insert Tubgirl link here)
  4. That lineup actually does not look unreasonable...RF is terrible, but that being said, I might be able to tolerate that lineup. It won't happen, because KW shouldn't trade for Kendall without having someone take on Konerko(maybe even the Pirates would), and the Bucs would have to suck up probably around between $10-$12 mill of his remaining contract...but it's reasonable. Have Kendall lead off(and not Rowand, because Rowand is not a leadoff hitter), Gload take Konerko's exact spot in the order, and that lineup is decent enough to win 85 games. The rotation is still s***ty...but that's nothing a FA signing couldn't handle.
  5. They were great games...I have not said they weren't...probably the best night of baseball in the entire year. I have seen performances from players that I didn't think was possible...Backe going 8 innings, allowing 1 hit to probably the best offense in the game, and maybe even a better offense then the Red Sox offense last year(that's my opinion...the stats do not support me, but there is no easy out in the entire lineup, with the exception of maybe the catcher...you add a good DH to that lineup and it might score 1000 runs). And the Yanke-Sawks game had to have been the craziest, most entertaining game I've seen all year...factor in that neither team could get a hit with a runner on, there were blunders abound, bad calls, and passed balls(I wonder how many millions of people were yelling "CATCH THE BALL" to their TV in the 13th or whenever it was that Varitek allowed 3 PB's). And I haven't said anything about the fans. I too find myself "praying" like Sawks fans for even goofier things then to keep my team alive. Saying "suck my balls," however, was inappropiate. If we want to put s*** behind us, saying suck my balls will not help the problem. That will only create more problems and more posts bashing the Red Sox...you attacked them, so human nature says to fight back, someway, somehow. What happened? People are not idiots if they are cheering for the Yankees over the Red Sox. I can cheer for whoever I want to, you can too, and so can everyone on Earth. It's their right as a human being. And I have already explained how the Cubs and Red Sox are similar franchises. Suggesting that they aren't is asinine. Neither have won a World Series in a long time(and we'll leave it at long), both have had very good chances to win or to get close to winning, but have choked(Leon Durham, Bill Buckner, Bartman, Pedro), and both franchises are "cursed", whether you believe in the curse or not. Those who are not watching the series are not watching for their own reasons...perhaps their detesting of both teams is enough to drive them to not watch. That's the way it was for me in the first 3 games of the series.
  6. The only thing you can really do is delete every temporary internet file and cookie off of your computer. That's about the best thing you can do if you don't want to get caught. There will almost undoubtedly be files that can still be found and accessed that let someone know that you were on that site.
  7. He throws really hard. Not that I don't like the idea...but does that sound familiar to anyone? :rolly
  8. I would too...but all I was proposing would be, if the right trade came up for Garland, would you make it and let Esteban become the 5th starter?
  9. I would have no problem bringing Esteban back. At the very least, we know we are going to get a good April out of him, and if his velocity magically reappears, we could have a steal...again. And, I know I started the thread saying hang on to Garland for atleast another year, probably two...but if the right offer came up, and we still signed/traded for a good SP, would anyone be opposed to a (FA/trade)-Garcia-Buehrle-Contreras-Loaiza rotation?
  10. I just got owned. Cheat's exactly right though. Guess I wasn't considering Arizona in the situation...hehehe
  11. Happy birthday Ace. Party on man.
  12. Red, this is an exact quote from you... "Last time I checked, respect was earned" link to thread I find it very hard to respect any person when you tell me to "suck your balls." And, FWIW...I have tuned into the series a little more as it's gone on. Still haven't watched a whole hell of a lot, and let me just say for as close as these games have been there is no reason these games couldn't end up being 10-9...poor execution all around by both teams the past two games.
  13. The most any team would pay for Sexson is probably around $7 mill, and while that is too much, you have to consider that he'd probably hit 50 homers in USCF. In all likelyhood, he'll make between $3-5 mill next year.
  14. So you'd take the attitude of a guy who looks like he couldn't give a s*** about the game and has complained to the media over a guy who has the intensity of an ace in game 7 of the World Series almost every single game he goes out there? Uh, no. Give me Zambrano's attitude over Garland's any day of the week.
  15. Maybe Lovie Smith is smart enough to realize that his team is done for and he's TRYING to lose so he can improve his draft position. I mean...it's a bad way to do it...but is there a chance he is intentionally doing it?

This is from a very un-informed source who is very curious to acquire some information asking the many informed sources on here... If someone gets the time...can they explain each type of these? I mean, I understand some of these...but not even close to all of them. I was just wondering if someone could give some characteristics on these(more or less taste, how they taste, coloration of them(and while I do know some of them, I have no idea what the difference between a Pilsner and an Ale is)). Some are quite obvious...but if anyone gets the time, I think it would be fun to read up on those types of things.
  17. Sweeney is 19 years old or so, and in all likelyhood, won't be ready until atleast 2007, and if he has a setback of some type, 2008(unless we get really lucky and he busts out and is up by 2006, or we go into a rebuilding stage in 2006 and he's up then just because we want him to grow at the MLB level). That's one reason we can look to sign Beltran. Also...I know that Ryan has a cannon of an arm...but IIRC, he can play a little 1B too...could someone offer anything to add along side that? And just to add one more thing...Frank Thomas's last year will probably be around 2007-08...hell, he may be out of a White Sox uniform by then. If he is no longer on the White Sox, there is a chance that the Sox could use the DH like the Twins did this year...just use one of the 4 OFers at DH during that particular game, probably the one who needs rest the most/is a little banged up, but is still good enough to hit.
  18. If Harris starts over Uribe, there better be a damn good reason. Uribe has advantages on him in almost all aspects of the game(except stealing bases...and even Willie isn't as good at stealing bases as he should be).
  19. An injury could have been a reason for his setback last year, considering he had no record, had an ERA of up over 5.50, and only pitched in 21 games(with 2 started) and 40.1 innings...he did pitch like half the year in AAA Richmond for the Braves though too, so I'm not sure what to make of it. Either way, I just hope that Garland figures it out 1 year earlier then Marquis. I think we all hope that.
  20. That post is right on. He'll take his lumps...probably will next year too. I personally look for him to bust out in 2006 and have a good year...maybe not 15-7 3.71 like Marquis did this year for St. Louis, but I would say that 15 wins and an ERA around 4.00 would not be out of the question.
