Started a Survivor League....here's kind of how it goes... It is a point based league....broken up into 4 periods of time. After each period ends, teams with the lowest scores are eliminated, their players are dropped and then are distributed amongst the others as waiver-wire players....and a new period starts, where the scores from the first period are wiped clean(which means that after the first period, you don't even pay attention to the column on the left). There is a HOST team that carries about 4 or 5 players at a time....and you do reward challenges, where you make guesses about things that will happen in the majors....which would be explained later. If you win a RC, you either get a player or immunity for that period....and I'll signify before hand which it is. Also....after each period ends, the HOST team will put claims on 4 or 5 new players and those players are off-limits. You have to give me access to your team, or else I will lock you out until you do. Simple as that. Once you get there, you'll note that for the pitcher's spot, all you'll see is RPs....meaning RPs are the most valuable players in the league. If I closer comes in and gets a save, while striking out the side, you get 20 points. That is the most points you can get for a 1-inning save. Also...walks and strikeouts are used as points....as well as sac flies and sac hits, and IBBs are as well. Once you get there, you'll understand. It's really a league that you need to consider a lot of stuff before you go into the draft. In most leagues, guys like Jose Hernandez and Alfonso Soriano are very, very valuable at their respective positions, because they either don't include walks in the scoring or they don't include strikeouts....this includes both, so you should normally see Jose Hernandez on the FA market, and Soriano go later in the draft. Barry Bonds becomes the player to have. If the league is run well by the commish(me in this instance), it one hell of a good time. Also....I could consider turning this into a keeper league....where we keep 5 players. We can make a decision on that later. Here's the info, for anyone who is interested: League ID#: 292894 Password: whitesox Draft is June 11th at 7:05 PM CT

Link to story Have we not been saying this constantly? Also....it says we're interested in JD Drew, Brian Giles, and Carlos Beltran.....and IMO, the only one we coudl get is Drew....Giles has a no-trade clause, and Beltran is intradivisional....unlikely we would deal with the Royals(though the Royals would deal with anyone). I just kind of laughed at KW's comments....he's such a f***ing dumbass. Regardless of whether or not he is in power....they are just funny as hell to read.....because he's so f***ing clueless

You know what I just noticed? Tampa Bay has 5 guys that were playing in the MLB last year....Jorge Fabregas, Damian Rolls, George Lombard, Chris Truby, and Mark Quinn. That tells you that AAA is not always a great place to see if you have top prospects. AAA is more the place for guys that do very well in the minor leagues, but can't get it together in the majors....AAAAers. Doesn't mean that guys like Joe Borchard, Adam Dunn, and those type can't play in AAA. -
I think you meant to put at the end of that, "unless we are down(because we sure as hell won't be up) by 5 runs or more."

I remember in like 1996 or 1997....somewhere around there....Texas started out 8-0. We played them, and took the game to extras. We got 2 guys on in the bottom of the 11th or something like that. Mouton came up, and hit a blast. I was yelling and cheering all around my house, because it was great fun. I think that was probably the day I became a White Sox fan, instead of just a Frank Thomas fan.

I guess the minority is growing. I also agree on all accounts.

He'd have more range, that's for damn sure. If we could get Konerko traded somewhere.....we could then have an OF of Daubach-Borchard-Ordonez with an IF of Crede-Valentin-Jimenez-Lee/Thomas. Doesn't look too bad to me. Improvements could obviously be made though.

His bad speed is definately down and its why he's popping everything up. His shoulders are all over the place and he can't see the ball. Its sad to watch Frank like this, but I don't give a damn what he did for our team, he shouldn't be playing everyday nor should a lot of guys currently in our lineup. I blame him, but like I say there are plenty of others I blame along with him. And, IMO, the important thing (and the only positive thing) about Frank's struggles are that he is still getting on base. Last year, he was just striking out and popping up....constantly. It was either a homer, a pop-up, or a strike-out, with a walk here and there. Right now.....even though he is just plain sad up at the plate....he's still been among the best producers on the team. You have to put more blame on Konerko.....he's younger, so his skills shouldn't be diminished like Frank's....and his average is 30 points lower(and Frank's is .245....f***ing sad), he has 6 fewer homers, and way fewer RBI. If Konerko is producing, his slow-ass can clog up the bases....fine by me. If he is not producing, like now, then he is a big problem. If we take on half his salary, I'm sure a few more teams would take him, including the Orioles. I want to see if we can make something out of this season. We need more team speed, and that's key. At this point, I'd be willing to do a lot, because what we have on the field is not working. It probably will work at some time....but we need it to work now.

I finally got to see him bat last night...and I believe Brando brought up the fact that his bat speed is way down....and it is. It barely looks like he's swinging the bat. He gets his bat speed up, he hits the inside pitch, he doesn't pop up as much, and he hits for more power all around. He just plain sucks right now.

That means that a year ago today, he hit a homer off of Sterling Hitchcock. That game was on TV. Happy Birthday Frank!

I'll be somewhat optimistic then....I'll say 7-7....7 games back.

I'm not even going to read it. Whatever Mariotti says will be right in this case. It is so f***ing easy to pick out what in the hell is wrong with this team. Get rid of Rick White to start with. I'm not ready to end the season quite yet. Get him out of here, and then see what happens. Also....if they can possibly unload Konerko on the Orioles, taking part of his salary, that'd be great as well.
-
Good question, I'd like to have Jerry answer that question, and knowing Jerry he'll answer with this. "Rick has been struggling, but he will come around." CWSOX45 That's Jerry's quote after every game. I can't wait to see what he says after his ass is finally fired, even if it is in about 10 years. He'd probably say something about someone coming around.

Holy s***....for anyone who cares....our North Side buddies are giving us something to laugh about Kerry Wood has a 1-hitter through 7 innings....AND HE'S LOSING!
-
HSC....I know that was a joke.....but in all reality, Nixon is one hell of a defensive player, and he can play some CF(though with Damon, he was playing RF) If we could get Damon for Koch....I'd be in favor of it. I don't think we could get them to take Konerko....that'd be damn near impossible, with the plethora of 1Bmen that they already have(Ortiz, Giambi, Millar, Hillenbrand, and Mueller can all play 1B). Also....if we traded Koch for Nixon...we'd possibly have to take on some salary from Boston. Not sure who, but we most likely would. I'd take Ortiz....because when he gets the bat going, he flat out strokes. DH him and have Thomas play 1B....Thomas isn't good defensively, but if it gets him going offensively, stick with it. I'd also trade Konerko to Baltimore for some fringe prospects

I hate to attack like this....but are you too f***ing stupid to realize that this team has played like s*** all year? This is not the normal team. Everyone, except DJ, is hitting below their career averages. You know what that says to me? That says that this team has played like s*** and that it will turn around. We will get it turned around. Trust me.

Agreed on all accounts

WE have Frank Thomas FT blows.......... I usually agree with you bmr, but youre wrong here. Frank is the freakin man! Not when he goes 4-for-30. No one is the man in that case.
-
I'd assume Borchard will play. I don't know how Manuel, in his right mind, would let any one else play but Borchard.
-
My only real good memory of Greg Norton is when he'd hit a homer. Hawk and Wimpy would yell "Norton, your the greatest!"

If they moved Erstad to first, then what in the hell would they do with Fullmer, Spiezio, and Wooten? Also....if they move Erstad....I'd like to be first in line to get him. He's a helluva player.

Can I add a quick comment about the scoring and ruling of who wins? Say, in a hypothetical sitation, that we are playing a game. And in this game, Frank Thomas goes 3-4 with 3 homers and 8 RBI....but he comes up in the bottom of the 9th, Sox down by 3, with the bases loaded, and he strikes out. And say that in this same particular game, that Magglio Ordonez goes 1-4 with 3 K's and he comes up after Thomas in the 9th, and he hits a a walk-off homer. Normally....Frank would win. However, what I am suggesting is that, if something like this occurred, where a player comes up huge like this(in this instance, a player hits a game winning homer), he deserves it more then the player with more points. Is this understood, and if so, what does everyone think? -
Uh oh....I gotta do it now. PK: You know what's weird? I play for the White Sox, but wear black socks. TH: No, that's not weird. PK: Is it weird that the foul pole is in fair territory? TH: No, that's not that weird either. (pause) TH: But you know what is weird? PK: What? TH: (pointing outside) That. (ESPN workers and sports mascots skip around a maypole ) PK: Yeah, that's definately weirder than my socks LMFAO! I love that commercial.

Then Fullmer and Wooten go to waste, because then Salmon has to DH....or Salmon becomes tradeable. What's wrong with Erstad anyways?
