No....just a lot of talking, and nothing else. It was actually quite pointless. No one was ejected, and I don't even think the benches were warned. You know....the Twins are the only reason I even have hope for the White Sox. The White Sox, regardless of how s***ty they do play, are a much, much more talented team than the Twins. The talented team should win...not the s***ty team. Godamn, that pisses me off. Anyways....the closest to any physical contact was Kielty pushing back the catcher Hernandez, who was trying to break it up. And he wasn't doing anything really. I could go on about how I like Kielty as a player and how he is the kind of player I'd like the White Sox to have....but I won't. :fyou the Twinkies

From the MLB WS boards...I thought you could only have 10 letters in your name....so, after looking at whitesoxfan for a while, I finally decided to get rid of the 'h.' You then get witesoxfan.

You know, suicides, of any kind, really hit close to home for me. At one time, Pierre was known as the "suicide capital of the US." There were just a huge number of suicides in a matter of a decade. The last suicide that occurred in Pierre was the year I was in 6th grade I believe....and the one before that was a person that I knew, and my mom and his mom were and still are very good friends....and have grown even closer since then. Suicide is a very touchy subject, IMO. That's why I'll never really try to get into it, like I just did here.

Hudson hit Kielty in the ass with a curveball, Kielty started towards the mound, and eventually got to first base. Apparently, Hudson hit someone earlier in the game....and then Reed hit someone else. I don't know why Kielty would be as pissed as he was though. If you want to hit someone, you are not going to throw a curve ball at them. You are going to throw the heat. Anyways....I assume the Twins lead the list of bench clearings and have done it against the most teams. They've had 4 bench clearing incidents, 1 against KC, 1 against Tampa Bay, 1 against us, and then this one against Oakland. Apparently, teams are out to get the Twins.

Holy s***...the Sox showing signs of life? :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

We won the division in 2000. Then Kenny Williams came into the picture. We are a combined 2 games over .500 under Kenny Williams as GM over 2 full seasons....and as of right now, are under .500 overall under KW. JM has seen this all as manager....plus more. I don't mind JM as much as I do KW.

Sounds fine and dandy...as long as I can come with!

Whoever's in CF....whether it be Maggs, Rios, Harris...etc etc etc. I don't know who it will be....but I'm going with the CFer.

I saw that clip too. I'd like to get him too. He is still probably faster than half the guys on our team. And I started laughing when I heard him talk in the third person.

Settle down-- remember the Angels
witesoxfan replied to suffering-nomore-sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Angels started out 6-14 and then won 21 of their next 24 games. Their record after 44 games(which coincidentally was when their streak ended) was 27-17. Ours is 20-24....or something around there. That is a difference of 7 games. -
You want another positive? Tom Gordon likes to pitch at The Cell. His ERA at US Cellular....0.00. His ERA on the road....around 9.50 In this case...if we were to make the postseason...and this trend continued...home field would be very nice.

Agreed on all parts. Couldn't have said it better myself

Because Billy Beane is a friggin genius. KW can't hold Billy Beane's jock....or he can't hold his book, or something like that. I'm not sure how you compared GM's like that.

And if we got Ponson, that would then make Garland available. Lee and Garland along with a prospect or two could get us something that we possibly need. Right now....we need a GM that will put his job on the line and make several ballsy moves to help get this team into contention. I don't know many GMs that would even consider doing that. We need a very gutsy GM. With my plan....you'd already be making one move that would make or break the whole process in using Willie Harris at 2B and having him leadoff. It is either do that or trade for Luis Castillo(and that would be fine with me too).

First of all, I bet we do lose to Maroth. He's a good pitcher. Which brings me to my next point. Maroth is not a s*** pitcher....he has just gotten no support. Something like 22 runs in 9 games? You are going to win very, very, very few games with that kind of support. Just ask Mark Buehrle.

How about the Orioles?

IMO, you do one of two things, come July, if we are at .500 or hovering right around there, give or take a few games. You either sell the team off, similar to how cerb said. We would suck big time then for 3-4 years. The other thing you could do is try to get Carlos Beltran. It could kill us in the end, trading to a divisional opponent, and we wouldn't be able to keep him(see Bora$$), but it would give us a shot to salvage the season. I would give them Garland, Malone(with what little value he has left), and Jimenez(I will probably get ripped for that one). You then put Harris at 2B full time....and that's the biggest risk of all. If he rips the cover off the ball and ignites the team....great. If not, you are dicked. The lineup for a few games would then be Harris, Valentin, Ordonez, Beltran, Thomas, Lee, Konerko, Crede, Olivo. I would then trade one of Konerko or Lee, whoever the team we are trading with wants, for a solid starting pitcher....a rent-a-pitcher. We then go in with either a strong 1-2-3 punch or a 1-2-3-4, depending upon how Loaiza fairs all year long. I'd assume they want Lee. You then just sell off Konerko to any team that is willing enough to take him. I'd even take on some of his salary. You then play Daubach at 1B, and Borchard in either LF or RF. The lineup is then Harris, Valentin, Beltran, Ordonez, Borchard, Thomas, Daubach, Crede, Olivo. Very balanced as far as lefty and righty hitters go, and team speed is increased. JMHO anyways

See how the team does in the next 5-10 games. If this team plays under .500 ball over the next 2 weeks....Manuel is gone. We are playing the Blue Jays, Tigers, and Indians over the next 2 weeks or so.....the only good team out of the bunch is the Jays, and they look to be a .500 team too. He's gotta try to rally his troops....because this is Manuel's last stand.

Then by your "this year is this year" and "what happened in the past doesn't matter" theory, the Sox don't have much hope do they? We're 2-4 against the Royals and 2-4 against the Twins. Our offense is 12th in the AL, we've got our RF playing CF, our SS and 3B are hitting under .250, a non-roster invitee to spring training leads our team in wins, and our ace pitcher has "lost confidence" in himself. We win close games about as often as the Bad News Bears, and our bullpen has been nothing if not inconsistent. Should be a great next 4 1/2 months You could look at it that way, yes. I personally don't, because it is quite obvious that this offense is underachieving. When you play different teams, you could play better or play worse, or they could play better or play worse. For all we care, we could be 10 games out by June. Who the hell knows? That's why they play the games.
-
Agreed. It's almost June....this team can not do what it did last year, and play good baseball when it didn't matter. That's bulls***. You have to play good baseball during the part of the year when it matters. That said, as overly optimistic as this sounds, we could be in first place by June. We have a slack schedule over the next two weeks, while Minnesota has Seattle and Oakland. However, you don't even get a cookie for being in first place in June. On the other hand, you get to go to the playoffs if you are in first place at the end of September.

You can hate the Packers as a franchise, but this just has to sadden you. My thoughts and prayers will go out to Ray Sherman's family. Story

That was last year, this is this year. The Twins were like 4-2 against the Yankees in 2001....and have since lost 13 straight in two years. Who's to say it will be the same for the Twins against the A's and M's this year?
-
Isn't Mays a former Mariner farm-hand? I'd give them White.....get Almonte's ass up here.
-
This offense score 850 runs last year. That is the offense I'm talking about.
-
No, I just think it is because the White Sox fan base, regardless of size, is very knowledgeable and wants the team to win. In other words....we kick ass! You would never see a Cub fan or, for that matter, a fan of almost any team say "Fire the hitting coach" or "Bench Sosa because he made a stupid play." You'd see "Has Sosa hit a homer yet?" or "How's Jesus Prior doing today?" or something like that.
