  1. Hell no baggs...this is the jersey we've had our best luck in. We've won a total of 2 divisions in about 12 years of wearing this jersey. That's better luck than any other jersey we've worn.
  2. I thought we had to shake s*** up....but holy f***.
  3. we do, we have one thats better...his name is dmaso marte..now if jerry would only give him the job True, I forgot about him. We also have a solid closer in Tom Gordon. He can be erratic....but he is solid. Ya know....I bet Gary Glover and Dan Wright are solid closers as well. Hell, I'd go as far as to saying Rick White and Kelly Wunsch would be OK closers. And if only one of them were our full-time closer
  4. we beat Minnesota when we got three hits - how often will that happen - yeah the 7-5 game is the only one of late with enough hits to need your fingers to count - How often will that happen? I'll make a solid guess and say once or twice a week, at the very, very, very most. We scored 3 runs. That was the key. I seem to remember a game a few years ago....before the DBacks and DRays....when KC was playing Milwaukee in County Stadium. The pitcher for the Royals walked a guy, hit a guy, and the next guy hit a homer. That was the only hit he allowed...a 3-run dinger. The Royals lost the game 3-2...giving up one hit. I don't think that will happen to us that often...because we got lucky as hell to get Minnesota when they weren't hitting well and we had a pitcher that had been pitching great at the time in Loaiza. This offense needs to get going...and it will eventually. The matter we are waiting for is when.
  5. It's something like that...maybe not 8. I just remember seeing it on ESPN on the bottomline. It is something that is not nice to look at, unless you are a White Sox hater. I think I know which game you are talking about...last Thursday against the A's when we won 7-5, right? Koch's blowup?
  6. Great post cw. And I agree whole-heartedly. I understand it was a joke. It wasn't funny though. For even suggesting it, he should have been suspended...and he was. Good for the Boston Globe(or whatever newspaper he writes for).
  7. you have a point there I hadn't thought of - we have been in a funk since that game. Something needs to be done, that's for damn sure. I think anyone would agree with that. You won't win many games when you get 5 hits or fewer. The past 8 games....we have done exactly that.
  8. A baseball coach of mine told me this line....and it's beautiful, even if you're in the major leagues. "If you still get upset over an error, you haven't made enough of them." Nellie wasn't upset that he dropped the ball...he was upset the team lost. Nothing wrong with that. Besides...according to KW(and it's nothing against you, but I'll take his word over your's), DJ was hurt deeply in dropping the ball. He said something like he was crushed. He just doesn't show it on the field. Showing deep anger on the field like he would have is terrible...and I'm very glad he didn't do it. He may have waited until he got to the dugout to do it anyways...and they just didn't show it. That's fine with me. Take it out on the home team's s***, not your's.
  9. He gets it from his brother I wish we had a closer like that, BTW
  10. Frank's walking as well. In fact....he's among the league leaders in walks. He just needs to be more agressive. BTW....for those who care....at this time in 2000....Thomas had 6 homers. I believe he has 5 right now. Also....in 2000, after starting off hot....we were 19-16 at one point. We hit a cold stretch right around this time that year. The only thing this team really has different than that team is the fact that that team had a lot more speed than this one. I for one am not ready to give up on the season yet. I don't think anyone, aside from a couple here, has.
  11. The way our offense has looked the past few days....you could even put in the name Jamie Navarro, and it would still probably fit. That doesn't sound crazy right now either, knowing how s***ty our offense has been.
  12. I wonder why he doesn't want Frank batting 3rd? Let's see....he and Frank have always had a s***ty relationship...and KW's favorite player, Carlos Lee, is batting 5th or 6th nightly. KW's a f***in nut. I want him to announce his resignation RIGHT NOW.
  13. This slump started when Crede's homer was called foul. If the right call is made on that play....you can atleast switch the numbers around in our W-L(making us 17-15 instead of 15-17)....and I will go as far as to saying that you could add a win or two to the win column. This team has just played like s*** ever since then. Crede may have tried to down play it....but it did not work. No one has hit on offense since then. Hardly anyone was hitting before that...and then we just decide to turn the offense off. What we need is a shakeup of some type...like a drastic lineup change. Anyone wanna see what Olivo can do out of the leadoff spot with Jose back to hitting 2nd and DJ hitting 5th? I sure as hell do.
  14. Get WSB 2k3, MVP 2003, or High Heat 2004....I've read a ton about WSB that makes it sound great....something along the lines of "probably the best franchise mode in all of today's sporting games." I've played MVP....that's a great game. Very realistic too. And regarding High Heat....I haven't read anything on it....but I'm just assuming it's a good game because of the fact that High Heat 03 was a great game. I'm thinking ASB 04 is probably the 4th best baseball game today....with MLB 2004 being the very worst. I could have told you that when I saw the first commercial for that game. Anyways....that's a different topic entirely. Just thought I'd say that.
  15. We lose. Mulder has been pitching very, very, very well over his past three starts or so. I don't look for it to end. I'm happy for your fantasy teams though
  16. Roman....look at Koch's ERA. That's your determining factor right there. One guy does not make a bullpen. In fact....one guy can't make a bullpen bad. Gordon, after early struggles, is back down to around 4.00. Marte has been solid....White has been solid....Wunsch has been nearly perfect....and Glover has been great. You take out Koch's ERA....and I bet the bullpen's ERA is right around the 2.75-3.25 mark.
  17. it has nothing to do with the west coast..it has everything to do with the ball club KW put together...did you hear hawk's comment on willie harris "if its hit over his head its a home run"...he is playing CF almost on the warning track...weaknesses that KW failed to address are killing this team And here's WSF still wondering why the hell we didn't pick up Jose Cruz Jr. Would have cost us $2-3 mill more and would have killed 3 birds with 1 stone....adds team speed....adds a lefty stick in the middle of the lineup....and brings solid defense in CF. Instead...we have to settle with Arman-on-ie Row-os-is....Armanonie Rowosis? How's that for a platoon?
  18. The Oakland A's last year had little speed...and they could have easily made it to the World Series. They had one real lefty power hitter in the entire lineup(as do we....Jose anyone?). Who says Colon won't have a solid year? I don't expect him to go 20-8 with a 2.93 ERA....18-12 with a 3.75 ERA would be great by my standards....that's all we'll need to get to the postseason. Garland is better than you think....he has just been the exact opposite of Loaiza. His ERA in April last year was 8.00...or around there. He then had an ERA under 4.00 for every month after that with the exception of July. If I can get an ERA under 4.00 for every month but two from my #3 pitcher....I'm gonna be happy. Wright won 9 games in the second half last year. Stewart is in the minor leagues...and if we get 13-13 4.50 out of Loaiza....I'll be happy as a clam. Our bullpen is one of the strongest in the league and we have probably the best depth out of any team in that category...that statement was stupid....sorry, but it's the truth. The White Sox, with Jm as manager and KW as the GM, did not use small ball. The White Sox, with JM as manager and Ron Schueler as GM, did use small ball. Whether or not it has to do with the hitting coach(Joshua under Schu, Ward under KW) is a different matter. We will see. The A's of last year are comparable to this year's White Sox. Then again...the A's had and still do have a GM with a clue. We haven't. He doesn't realize the joy of being able to play golf on a beautiful sunny day in the middle of summer. Instead....he wants to manage the team through JM. He'll be playing a little more golf now that he is not the GM.
  19. We're not going to make the playoffs because we fired a guy that could be the cause of the whole thing? This team has underachieved immensely during the Ken Williams reign of terror, which includes this past month. Do you remember the last time this team didn't underachieve? That's right....2000, when KW was the minor league director. This is the man that totally ripped apart the minor league system that was rated the best at the time, was involved in the shouldergate contraversy, had quotes such as "You can't spend a dollar if you only have $.50", "it's the fan's fault that we're losing", "I'll roll the dice on a guy", was made a b**** by several GMs(including the likes of Dan Evans, Billy Beane multiple times, and Dave Littlefield...and there are probably more as well), had clubhouse spies, had players that were favorites of his that he wouldn't trade because they were his guys(including Royce Clayton, as well as others), has managed from above acting as God....and I'm barely scratching the surface. KW has one great offseason....and you're praising him like he's been behind our "success" all along. The last year we were successful was 2000. KW as the minor league director then. He was NOT, I repeat, NOT the GM. Maybe you can't remember that far back. I do remember the 2001 offseason. It was a terrible offseason....he nearly trades Garland(among others) for Erstad(which would have been great had he not made the Ritchie move after that...I'm afraid he would have)....and then he did make the Wells-Fogg-Lowe for Ritchie move. Wells is the best pitcher on that staff right now and has the second best stuff behind Benson(who will be the ace by year-end). Fogg is a solid starter....he'd probably win 10-15 games for us. And while Lowe wasn't great for them(or Colorado for that matter), he was a great swing man for us. That move really did kill us....before the season started. Then when Ritchie imploded....it was all over. That move, IMO, should have cost him his job...and it didn't. We haven't been successful with KW...and we won't/wouldn't have been successful with KW. Ncorgbl has said it best.... "We won't win with KW." This team is going to make the playoffs....we'll see what happens from there.
  20. Ritchie had an ERA of 6.06 or so. And you don't think Maroth has had it tough? He's gotten lit up in like 2 outings all year. That's why ERA is overrated. He was supported with about 0 runs in his first 2 or 3 starts....you won't win games when you are supported by 0 runs. I'd Maroth on our team. All he needs is a little confidence. He can be great(see 7 no-hit innings against Baltimore)
  21. We're playing October baseball one way or the other, guaranteed.
  22. Roman....do you need a flyer reminding you that the season is 6 months long and not 1 1/2 months long? A lot of s*** can happen. I'm not saying the White Sox will go to the World Series....but it is definately a possibility. The way the AL Central is playing right now....it wouldn't surprise me if a below .500 team made it to the postseason. And a team such as ours....with a strong 1-2 punch and a good offense....could make some noise, and get to the World Series with a few breaks here and there. Also Roman....I looked up the 1983 season for the Sox, after RPS made a statement somewhere talking about how that team had no speed(aside from Rudy Law) and started out s***ty...and how they really turned it on after the break....that team was 38-35 in the first half of the year...and won 99 games. They just couldn't catch a break. I remember baggs telling a story on here about how Rudy Law started towards second on a ball that went to the backstop....the Orioles put in two extra rows of seats for the postseason to draw a few more fans....and it was a perfect ricochet to the catcher, and he threw Law out by like a step. If those steps aren't there...and they shouldn't be....Law is on second, and the Sox score a run or two...maybe take the game, get a little momentum...and are on their way to the Series.
  23. JM didnt have to do anything in 2000. But now, the players need his help. And so far he hasnt adjusted to give them any help. Thats why he needs to go. And I really dont hope we lose every game for the rest of the season, I just want Manuel to go... So you somehow think him saying "Go give 110%" will somehow snap every hitter out of their slump? JM has done all he could have done without getting fired or atleast getting on KW's s*** list. He also can't control what the players do on the field. You expect him to put on a glove and take the position of whoever is struggling or what? You want him to pinch hit himself for a struggling Paul Konerko when the game is on the line?
  24. IMO...Olivo is the only one that will work out. We needed some catching in our system...and got a good one in Olivo. Adkins is a AAAAer, at best, while Durham helped them get to the postseason. Koch was brought in here to close....and the rest were throw ins. Cotts could become a Cy Young winner and Holt could be the home run champion...whoop-dee-f***ing-dee...we still lose. If Koch fails....the trade is lost. Right now, it looks as though Koch is going to fail. Foulke is ripping s*** up....Valentine is ripping s*** up...and MJ is one of the best, if not the best, backup catcher in the league. MJ is quite possibly exactly what we need right now. Send him down to AAA if he had any options left(I believe he did) and let Olivo start to get some work up here OR keep Olivo in AAA and have MJ and Sandy do the catching until Sandy gets hurt. Either would have worked out well. We have gotten fleeced in every trade but ONE up to this point.
