I hope he gets well....I don't want any damn Twin fan making the excuse that because we beat the s*** out of them this year is because of injuries....when in reality, they probably won't lose much to injury, if anything at all. They thought that their 'injuries' this past year were bad....they don't realize what we went through as far as injuries go in 2001. For starters...to be correct....we won 95 games in 2000....second in the majors to the Giants(who won 97). Also....do you have enough money to buy the naming rights of the stadium? If so, you WILL be buying the naming rights!

Thanks Baggs..... although it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still, he is much better with no one on than anybody on. Cooper needs to work on Damaso's state-of-mind when entering a game and inheriting baserunners. Hopefully, some of that blame could be deflected to Nardi..... although he wasn't here that long in 2002. Nardi was here have the year, wasn't he? In the first half, his ERA was 3.09(over 8 in April)...in the second half, it was 2.49(his highest ERA total for one month was 3.27 in July....had a 0 ERA in 7.2 innings in September). Had a 5.14 ERA with RISP in the second half of the year....that is compared to a 8.38 ERA in the first half. However(and I think this is the biggest point)....opponents also had a .442 average against Damaso in the first half with RISP....a .200 average against him in the second half. If you want me to go into more detail, I could. Also....don't let him pitch in day games....his ERA was 5.24 in day games....1.42 in night games.

That happens in October...and I hope we can be there....but odds are we won't be....all you have to do is look at the past 45 years and see how many Chicago teams have made it to the World Series....you're answer should be a whole number between 0 and 2.

How far is that from Sioux Falls? My dads side of the family lives in a very very small town in Iowa, about 20 minutes outside of Sioux Falls. If I remember correctly....about 210 or 220 miles or so. Thing that is funny about all of this is that I live in a good-sized town for SoDak.....15,000 live in Pierre....and a huge amount of people live in Sioux Falls(about 125,000)....SoDak's total population is about 700,000...and that is nothing compared to some cities in Cali and is nothing compared to Chicago. I live in small-town America...and it seems big here. A decent-sized city is one that is about 3000-5000 in population....talk about small town America....cities suburbs have more waaay more than that.

If Jimenez went down for an extended period of time...we have Harris, Graffy, Hummel, Miles, Yan, and more that can play 2B and hit leadoff at the same time....with Yan and Harris having the best speed and Hummel, Graffy and Miles being OBP guys. As I said before....Thomas needs to step up. Period.

Jas...I'd look for someone to be in Rios's spot...not sure he'll make the club out of ST. He'll probably either be cut, put on waivers and then sent to the minors, or traded....he could make it, but I wouldn't count on it. If JP or Burke or someone like that can prove that they can positions aside from catcher, then I think they will make it...the 5th bench spot will go to the most versatile guy, or a guy that can play catcher and another position or two....so I hope that JP or Burke can play 3B and LF and RF and 1B....and then eventually have them learn SS, 2B and CF....we would be a much better team if that occurs.

south dakota? I love (parts of) that state - considered moving there a few times - was thinking about Lead just yesterday in fact - what is so wrong with North Dakota? Gees, Bismarck and Pierre are the banes of students learning the state capitals everywhere - your family in government? do they have rap in the Dakotas? South Dakota....once you get used to all the boring scenery...and you get to know people...it is a nice state. Hot as hell in the summer(it'll occasionally reach 110, but usually just 80-100), freezing-balls cold in the winter(can get below zero, and sometimes even lower than that....sharp cold wind most of the time....but it's also pretty nice at times...looks to be about 35-40 tomorrow....but I'd say it is normally about 10-20 degrees with snow on the ground)....and there are some pretty cool things all aorund. And we get excited seeing some of our boys playing Division I-A football, and now we will see that alot(as SDSU, South Dakota State, not San Diego State, is going D IA this year)....nice scenery though....and we Pierre-ans(and for those who care, it is pronounced peer, not pee-air, the French pronunciation....that is probably my biggest pet peeve) are liking Scott Rislov at SJSU...and I believe I heard from some guys that he may work with Jeff Garcia this offseason...that's pretty neat. Nothing wrong with Bismarck....I just don't want to leave Pierre and all my friends....it's been quite hard on me. I've accepted the fact that we are moving, though if I was given a chance to stay in Pierre, I'd do it. Actually, no one in my family is in government....my dad goes to and oversees the Wyoming and South Dakota state legislature for the company he works for, and I believe with our moving to Bismarck(and his promotion), he will then also oversee Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota's state legislature's as well...but I'm not positive on that. It may be Nebraska and not Minnesota....not positive. HSC has told me that she is a biker girl and really likes South Dakota as well....and I know why she likes the state. Rap? Well, we listen to rap....most kids do anyways. Just no rap radio stations. Most adults think it sucks and they'd rather listen to classic rock...and if I had to choose between bad classic rock and bad rap...I'd rather listen to bad classic rock. I think Eminem is the main choice of rap though....with some others mixed in as well. As for rappers...well, since there are very few good white rappers(in fact, only about 1, that being Eminem)...I'd say no.

Thomas...without a doubt in my mind....if he hits well, our offense is better than it was in 2000. If he doesn't....the offense doesn't. Valentin will hit .240 or .250 if Thomas doesn't perform....Jimenez will probably hit a little worse, Olivo won't develop offensively quite as fast, Rowand then doesn't....etc. It is a chain reaction. When you have a bat that is as good as Thomas's when he is healthy and hitting well.....your whole team is better. Why in the hell do you think we had any success at all from 1995-1999? BECAUSE OF THOMAS.....his bat alone made the team twice as good(not statistically, but you get what I'm saying)

I'm sure other teams have decided their opening day starters as well....the Mets are going to go with Tom Glavine, the Cubs with Kerry Wood, the Cardinals with Matt Morris, the Astros with Roy Oswalt....most of that s*** was decided last year basically, and teams just didn't go public with it, unlike the Padres. Lawrence was a great starter for them last year and I am not surprised that he is their opening day starter. But who cares? That is the Padres, not the Sox.....if you find it interesting, tell yourself that somehow, someway....you don't need to tell us that.
