Having a rotation like that makes it one of the tougher, though not necessarily better, ones in the league. The nice thing is is the fact that if the playoffs started tomorrow, you couldn't have 1 set lineup....because it would get dominated....kind of like the Angels last year(though I hate to use that comparison...because we as Sox fans always do)....they'd have a chance against Colon....but they'd either have to change lineups and use cold bats against Buehrle, or they'd have to use hot bats against him and risk struggling to the change of speed thing. Power-finesse-mix-power-finesse....and it just keeps going on like that as well.....both the finesse guys are lefties....both power guys are righties...and Garland is a righty as well. And, if necessary, Rauch or Diaz could fill in for Wright or Colon, Loaiza or Heredia could replace Garland, and Stewart or Porzio could replace Buehrle or Rogers....this is, assuming they got hurt. I don't want a rotation of Diaz, Stewart, Loaiza, Porzio, and Diaz....but they are suitable replacements.

With the White Sox....yes. However, I think Buehrle will benefit from being in the #2 role....because now Colon's high 90s fastball will make Buehrle's 92 MPH fastball look even slower, and his changeup even better than that. Then again, I could see Colon benefitting from being in the #2 spot as well....following Buehrle's 88-92 s***, his 98-100 MPH fastball will look like 100+ MPH....or so I hope.

Oh jeez I remember when Giambi signed with the Yanks....Kruk was pissed as hell at him....saying s*** like "You don't show the loyalty you said you'd show and then go do this" and "He signed with New York for $2 million more a year and because Oakland wouldn't give him a no-trade clause...that's so stupid" and stuff like that...and then Salley would say stupid s*** that he didn't have a damn clue about or what he was talking about backing Giambi. And then Kruk gave the White Sox a mention atleast once or twice....he said "When I was 34 and playing with the Chicago White Sox, I did [something](I can't remember) and I just looked over at the coach and said 'I'm done.' " Kruk was pretty damn cool....too bad he's gonna be coaching with the Phillies, I believe, next year instead of on that show. I think they may use Bret Saberhagen or possibly Tony Bruno I think his name is...if so, I'm done....I want them to get a guy very close to resembling Kruk. Hell, getting Kent Hrbek would be funny...atleast Arnold would have someone's weight to make fun of. That's probably what I think is funniest.

Well, consider that Cashman traded a solid starter in El Duque for a heart-attack in Osuna and a mediocre prospect in Delvis Lanitgua....and then he gave us cash....so that evened out the deal....yeah, I'd say that Williams is a genius compared to Cashman.....except when he traded Scott Wiggins for Raul Mondesi...I don't care how s***ty Mondesi hit for the Skanks....when you can trade for a 25-30 homer guy with 90-100 RBI potential and 20-30 SBs for a career minor leaguer, you came off in the good end....even if Mondesi costs you $5-6 mill for one half of the year.

I feel that if we get Rogers, than Rauch is in the minors getting innings in and we just go with the bullpen above with Wright in the rotation. After this year, we use Rauch in the rotation....no questions asked.

I personally think Arnold is kind of witty at times...but he is also stupid, at times. I guess it's the South Dakotan in me that likes Arnold....either that or else I'm easily entertained....and I think that is probably a big reason of it too. I'm not that big a fan of nascar....but it can be exciting at times....I just don't understand it like I do baseball or even football or basketball for that matter. A little story here real quick....on the MLB board, the very day after the season ended(after the Angels won the World Series), a Cubs fan came over to the Sox board and said that the Cubs were going to be the best team in Chicago and they were going to win it all. But yeah, that works....and usually, it starts to get a little warmer as well. Also, after the Superbowl, you can tell the season is about to start. I used to watch it when D'Marco Farr was the main football guy instead of Michael Irvin....and now Krukky's leaving. However, when Irvin took over the main role(though Farr does show up now and then), the show just got kind of stupid....kind of like what happened to CBS's pregame shows for football...when Deion came in, it got bad. I'm not being racist here, but that show is...how do I say it....it's gotten too black for me. I don't find it that funny any more and the parts I do find funny are the parts where Kruk or Tom Arnold would do something....because Salley and Irvin are dumbasses....and now with Kruk leaving, there is only Arnold....and Chris Rose isn't funny at all...he just kind of talks. So, as a guy, I got two things looking in my direction.... - the chicks on the show(because most of them are fine) and - Tom Arnold's comedy That is it....and I think that the things I don't like outweigh the things I do like on that show. Atleast I got out how I feel about that show.

I assume it involved Ricardo Rincon going from Pittsburgh to Cleveland...but that's a guess Regardless....the Indians wouldn't have traded within the division. They also traded away Jeromy Burnitz in their little run....if it matters.

I'm pretty sure Giles has that trade clause that allows the Pirates to only trade him to like 6 teams without his consent....and we aren't one of those 6 teams. However.....I'd like Giles...but we'd need to give them more than just Rauch, Lee and a prospect......probably need to give them Malone and a prospect or two....because Giles is their only real offensive threat...without Giles, the Buccos are a horrendous team....probably the worst in the league. Giles is probably untouchable....but imagining having him is nice. Regardless...we won't get him.... Maybe Rauch, Lee, Malone, and Holt/Valenzuela, along with cash.....I'm not sure I want to give up that for Giles.

I wouldn't say that is big....we're signing, at best, a #4 starter....and I'd prefer to keep Rauch in the rotation and let him mature this year....but oh well.

HSC....there are fewer than 5 days left before ST starts....I wouldn't be surprised if we start talking about trading Maggs for a hot dog vendor in Yankee Stadium before ST starts. Nothing big happening until ST....so we are bored as hell....February sucks....but March is cool and so is April and May and every month after that till October....and then football season is going on....so January and February are the two slowest months of the year.

This is by fantasy rankings....not how good the player is. Wood is better than Buehrle because he gets more strikeouts. Vlad is a 40-40 guy(though he hasn't done it yet)....he's a complete offensive player. He doesn't strike out, he hits for a high average, he hits for power, he steals bases, he drives in runs....this isn't accounting for the fact that he's had an average of just under 11 errors a year the past 3 years(if I remember correctly). Bonds doesn't strike out and we are all aware of what he can do with a bat. I don't worry about fantasy rankings except when I'm playing fantasy baseball....when it comes to baseball, I'll use a guys talent or his stats to help be better understand how good a player he is....not fantasy rankings.

So why can't people understand this about Carlos, the stupidass?

Both are still in the big leagues.....one doing a bit better than the other. Gil is a good backup in Anaheim, where Caruso can't even be a starter on the Royals....to put it lightly, Carlos Lee could be a starting SS on the Royals. I don't even want to imagine Carlos Lee at SS though.

When I saw the title of this thread, I wasn't sure if you were going to talk about the Durham trade, Roger Clemens, Lorenzo Barcelo or Rick Reed! We got screwed....but it's over and done with.

Hard nosed is a term I hadn't thought of....exactly. That is the kind of player I think Rowand is.

Come on....you're forgetting the one player in baseball history to not have a thumb and have his birthday on his jersey....Carlos May(the OTHER Carlos). He had a decent year or two with the Sox in the 70s I believe. Talk about a bit of trivia....I bet you could stump a lot of people with that question.

I could see Jimenez being scrappy...but then again, it depends on your definition of scrappy. When I think of scrappy I think of a guy that just hustles his ass off all over and is agressive as well....I see them as a player who doesn't hit for much power, doesn't have all the talent in the world, but because he is agressive and he hustles, he puts up good numbers and kills the opposition. He is a pesty player....one that will break up the double play, whether it be hustling and beating out a throw or breaking up a throw by sliding or something like that....I see him getting clutch hits and making a lot of plays....Dustan Mohr for the Twins comes to mind, and Bobby Kielty to an extent(though he is more pest than scrappy...jeez I hate him)....Darin Erstad....guys like that. Now this isn't saying that Crede doesn't hustle his ass off or play agressively....I just think he has a lot more talent than Rowand does...and I think probably everyone else here does as well. I think Konerko is fundamentally sound...he does the right thing almost every time....whether it be hitting the ball to the right side with a runner on 2nd or hitting a sac fly or something like that....smart baseball, not stupid baseball.....that is the difference between CLee and Konerko....one is smart, one is not....I don't think I have to tell you who is who. However...I could most definately see Jimenez being a scrappy player like that....though he does have quite a bit of talent.
