  1. Dammit, how come no one ever suggests us becoming like what the Yankees were from 1996-2001....reaching the Series in 5 out of the 6 years and winning it 4 times....that kind of thing pisses me off. We don't HAVE to be the Braves or the Marlins....we COULD be the Yankees.
  2. That ALWAYS works for me!
  3. There's a difference between what you did and what he did.....you just post stuff that has nothing to do with the Sox.....just for our sake to read it. He posted this in an effort to see if he thinks we would like Junior Spivey on the Sox and what it would take to get Spivey to the Sox. I see nothing wrong with what he did, compared to what you did. If you were to suggest the White Sox get Brian Lawrence or see what we think of the idea, and then see what it would take....it would be a little different. I personally couldn't give a rat's behind about what the Pads did....they could trade all their players and go with their AAA team for all I care....so long as the White Sox don't do that, I'm fine with it.
  4. If you went with Murc's theme(as wsc did)....you could also say Thomas is playing with his Frank Gordon likes to Flash people Tony played with his Graffanino(hey...atleast I'm trying) Just some dumb ones Aaron will Row-and will eat a sandwich on a boat I could think of more if I tried...but I don't want to try.
  5. Wait a second....the Red Sox are going to wear those in games? Guess no one will be seeing any Red Sox games this year....ouch. And BTW Cali....to be technical....this IS Sox related....just not White Sox related! You know....baggs has said he wants some forest green in Sox uniforms....I think that would look decent IMO. I'm fine with black though....and atleast there's only 2 1/2 hours left till the day ST begins(meaning no more bulls*** threads....we won't see 'would you trade Maggs for so and so' anymore....phew)...I'm quite sure they won't start ST at midnight....but that's just a hunch.
  6. Born and raised in Pierre, South Dakota....still live here today....but we are soon moving to Bismarck in North Dakota...pisses me off.
  7. Hey, I love bowling....I carry about 165 average right now and just bowled in my local league today....though baseball is #1. I also love watching bowling...and I think it would be sweet to do that someday...that is, bowl for a living. That has got to be damn tough though....you bowl like 20 games a week....or about 3 a day....and on the championship day(assuming you qualify)...you'd bowl between 1-5 games....it doesn't sound that bad....but when you bowl 6 games in a row....your fingers are pissed at you, screaming in pain(and sometimes blisters are a result as well....those hurt like a b****). And then sometimes your sponsor is like odor eaters...I think that's who Walter Ray Williams Jr's sponsor is...and he has an odor eaters spare ball...LMAO I can normally handle 4 games at a time though....and sometimes 5. Any more than that and my finger tips start to hurt. I've never really followed hockey....I like having to be able to use your hands....probably the same reason I've never liked soccer. Only one player uses their hands.....however, in baseball, you use hands on defense, fielding and throwing.....hands can make you safe instead of out when sliding....and coaches use them to give signs...and there are probably more as well. Football and basketball are dominated by the hands....I like hands-on sports, I guess.
  8. As did I....that survey was quite possibly te easiest thing I've ever done in my life....and the sad thing is, many Americans didn't have a friggin clue about anything....though Mexicans were the worst....only like 7% of them knew where Afghanistan were....atleast they know where their own country is.

I'm more worried about who will start opening day for the White Sox then who will start opening day for the sucky-ass Padres.
  10. If I had to make a guess...I'd guess that we have the second youngest pitching staff in the league....and if I had to give my opinion....I'd say we have the second best pitching staff in the league. If I had to make another guess...I'd have to say that the teams above us are not the same team.
  11. I think Orosco could just keep pitching....I think he'll make it to 50...if not more. As long as he keeps his love for the game, he could pitch every year till he's 70.
  12. Atleast 1 person understands what I was trying to say. Yes, that is exactly what I was trying to say...Konerko could be pitiful this year. He could end rallies and strike out in big situations....Glaus's failure didn't keep Anaheim from winnin 99 games though. Do you have some kind of grudge against Glaus? He deserved MVP....he hit the double that cleared the bases in game 6 that put the Angels on top for good....he won the series for them. Spiezio was clutch and played a good series....but Glaus deserved that award twice as much as the guy who would have gotten second place. I believe Glaus hit like .240 30 75 this year or something to the extent....a similar year for Konerko would be .260 18 75 or so. He would be regressing instead of progressing....it doesn't mean that he will be ruined for his career....just looking at his second half stats and thinking something like this could happen. It could also happen to Maggs....Glaus won the Big League Challenge last year....Maggs won it this year....that's a possibility as well.
  13. I was in the website when it happened...I tried to post something and it did that...so then I hit the back button an a page of gibberish came up. I left the site, put www.soxtalk.com in the url blank and got the same thing you did. Is that the problem that has been bugging the server?
  14. HSC....did the ball Maggs lose in the lights leave the park? There's a big difference between losing the ball in the lights and having it land in fair territory than thinking you are under it, losing it in the lights, and then watching it land in the stands 5 rows back. If something like that ever happens again...you don't take any s*** at all. I also read once upon a time, like last offseason that the Twins were going to get a new ballpark....one comparable to Ebbetts field. I wonder whatever happened to that....they could have all the astroturf they wanted....hell, they could use astroturf as hair for all I care...just get rid of those damn lights and that damn white roof....it just pisses the hell out of me.
  15. Just watch "street smarts". Then you can see some real dummies... I was just going to bring that show up....jeezus are those people f***ing retarded or what? I mean there will be a question like "Who is this man?" and they'll show G-Dubya and someone will say"Bill Clinton" or something stupid like that and then that stupidass host will do an impression of Clinton or Dubya or something like that...he may have them spell the word "goofy" and they'll spell it 'gufie' or something like that.....I seriously think that show is rigged...they just take about 20 of the stupidest people in one general neighborhood and quiz them to see who is the dumbest....then take the 3 stupidest of those and then take them to random locations and dress them appropiately for their location...then take the 2 hottest of those 3(assuming one of those 3 is not one of the dumbest), preferably one man and one woman, and then have them be the contestants. They then just go on like this. Ether that or else they hire some not stupid people to act on that show and then pay them later. That show is so f***in stupid....if someone put that they were on street smarts on an application, they would immiediately be turned down....no head person wants a dumbass to work for them.
  16. i would like to say welcome and you have a great post. i am glad another inform fan is posting. so what are you saying ldf.. the rest of us are not informed?????? HSC....I think so. Maybe we should teach LDF a lesson?
  17. As Jim Ian noted, this is FANTASY rankings....this is based solely on statistics and not the actual talent of the player. You wanna know why Bellhorn has a higher ranking than Crede? Bellhorn hit 27 homers last year, drove in 60 or so, and had an OBP of about .360....Crede hit 12 homers, drove in about 40 and had an OBP of(and this is a total guess) about .345....and Bellhorn played more games, and he played most of them at 2B....he scored more runs than Joe, he got more hits....flat out, he played better than Joe did AT THE MAJOR LEAGUES. This is also due to the fact that he PLAYED MORE GAMES at the major league level as well. Does this mean I'd rather have Bellhorn than Crede? Hell no....but I assume Rowand was higher than Patterson in CF....as big of a K machine as Patterson is and for how little he walks....I'd probably rather have Patterson over Rowand in CF....Patterson has some incredible range, though he doesn't read the ball off the bat well, and he's got a good mix of power and speed....bat him 6th in our lineup and he could be a .270 30 90 35 guy with a gold glove....problem is, he is in a weak lineup and he has to be one of the bigger elements. I also believe Kerry Wood is higher on that list than Mark Buehrle is...in fact, I think that both Wood and Clement are higher on it than Buehrle...and Prior could be as well. The only one I'd even consider taking over Buehrle is Prior...and that's because he is GOING to be a stud....and if I wanted to win in 1 year or else my team was going to have to be rebuilt, I'd rather have Buehrle....he is a stud that knows how to pitch. When comparing baseball teams, I take none of this s*** into consideration....when doing fantasy stuff, I take this stuff into consideration...SOMETIMES. In conclusion, I think the lesson is don't get so damn hyped about fantasy rankings....though I do think Maggs is the 3rd best OFer in today's game(behind Bonds and Vlad) and I think he'll put up better triple crown numbers then those 2(meaning he'll have a better average, more homers and more RBI than those 2 for those who don't understand).
  18. baggs took my choice....asshole! Umm....how about A-Gonz? Andy Gonzalez...that'd be my choice...either him or, the obvious, Borchard. I like to see how our AA and AAA teams are doing....but I'm not that big a follower of our A teams and our rookie league teams...I just know that I've heard many good things about Gonzalez and how he could be one of the better up and coming SS's in the minors. Maybe Jeremy Reed, or Cerb's boy, Anthony Webster....those two could as well.
  19. And that makes me think of the Metrodome scene....where Carlos is under the ball....and then Heather's "message" come flying across....he shrugs his shoulders....and the ball lands in the stands. That was too damn funny....I can't get over that.

    DAMMIT I MISSED IT!!! lol
  21. That is exactly why they can't tell him any more than go to AAA pitch your ass off and your time will come. You can't promise a guy something or even say you intend to do something specific like that. What if Rauch is 1-2 with a 4.95 ERA in AAA? Do they feel pressured to bring him up at a certain point because of a "promise made"? Realistically, if Rauch goes to Charlotte, he could be in Chicago in May or not until September depending on what the 5th starter does and whether injuries occur. rex..wasnt that foulke's big complaint???...that jerry promised him as soon as he straightened himself out the closer roles was his..then jerry said i cant do it because osuna and marte were 22 out of 24 in saves... i doubt jerry learned from that he could very well tell rauch he will be sent to AAA then called up by such and such a date..then have something happen where he cant do it ...then rauch is pissed off If Manuel told Rauch that he'd be back up if whoever was the 5th starter didn't pitch well in May, then I'd be fine with that....because that would give the Sox some room to work with....if, say, Heredia is 4-0 2.50 at that time...I'm not going to say "OK Gil....you are pitching great. Now go rot away in AAA." If Manuel warns Jon ahead of time that he may not be back up in May, dependant upon how the #5 starter does, then I'd be fine with it...I won't be happy if he gives him the job and then doesn't throw him any in April, except for his 3 or 4 starts or whatever, and I don't really want him to have that cold weather affect how he pitches....but then again, I won't get mad if he gives him the job...it obviously means that Rauch did a good enough job in ST to get the job and he will be pitching regularily from that spot, and when he misses a start in April due to scheuduling, make damn sure to get him some pitching from the bullpen....maybe give a guy a rest on a night when, say, Gordon is tired from 2 straight nights's work.
  22. Maybe there is a streamer on a plane and it says "Hey Carlos....this is Heather....will you marry me?"

Valentine's minor league Rolaids Relief award? Can't forget Valentine's nasty ass stuff? Can't forget (Bobby) Valentine's complaining about the Mets losing streak last year and how it was affecting his dogs? Can't for get (Bobby) Valentine's fake mustache? What's this damn Valentine's crap?
  24. 247....we have 1-3 guys that can play small ball....and only 1 of them is at the top of the order(Rowand and Olivo at the bottom). Our team speed from last year is down, and we were slow as a whole for the team last year....I don't think running more would help us...in fact, I think running more would hurt us. However, I wouldn't mind if Valentin ran some more....get Thomas some fastballs....he could hit 10 2-run homers this year BECAUSE of Valentin. If we can get 20 SBs out of Jimenez, Valentin, Maggs, Rowand and Olivo, I will call it a friggin miracle...because that would be over 100 SBs as a team....that is un-friggin-canny. A team that can hit 250 homers and steal 120 bases....and the homers number is undervalued at that....because if the Sox are stealing 120 bases, they will see more fastballs, and with fastballs come more flat pitches(because that's what a fastball is), and with more flat pitches come more balls leaving the park....and if the short porch is added in 2004...and we have most of these guys back...and guys like Crede and Olivo and who not keep improving...and Joe Borchard demolishing the ball....I could potentially see us being a team that hits 300 homers. That is quite a few...but if you think about it that is an average of about 21.5 homers per person....and Maggs and Thomas will probably hit twice that many, if not more....and Borchard will probably hit 30 in 04, and if the short porch is there, possibly more....Konerko could rip it up....who knows....maybe Valentin is back and he hits 30-35....this could be a team to watch for years to come. OK, I'll stop with the fantasy now.
  25. Jim....here's my question. Say a team has a guy like Jose Valentin in the middle of their lineup....he is a huge hitter from the left-side of the plate(in other words, he hits RHP very well)....but he hits terrible right-handed(he hits LHP very poorly)....and this guy has been on fire. The Sox pitch Colon in game one - the outcome doesn't matter - and they throw Buehrle in game 2. You then have two choices...do you a ) put the hitter in the lineup and take a risk OR b ) take the hitter out and put someone possibly worse than he is in the lineup Also.....some hitters do hit fastball pitchers better than they do junkballers....and these same hitters sometimes hit righties better than lefties. You don't think that can have an effect on them? Getting changed around like that can mess up a team.
