  1. a slapped dick can be very painful I'd imagine so....maybe I'll just throw a baseball at his ugly-ass face. Jeez I can't stand that prick....he is the #1 reason I don't watch Around the Horn(the #2 reason being that it does not help kids looking to become sportswriters get off to a good start....here these guys put up solid arguments(yes, even Moronotti does) only to be told shutup by Kellerman and then he gives his point of view and declares it the new bible....that's not that way it goes....if you don't agree with a guy, you can't tell him to shutup....you gotta work stuff out)

    Twins, Sox

Pierzynski will know Koch means buisness....and Pierzynski will have to clean that brownish-tannish stain off his butt(I hope he will realize that s*** does sink through cloth)

    Twins, Sox

I'm most definately going to some Sox-Twins games this year....go to the baggie dome decked out in White Sox black...just be an arrogant asshole. Then, maybe if I'm real damn lucky, I'll get out to Comiskey, err, USCF
  4. When you look at it...and you figure it out....you can tell the big reason why Frank is a better player than SamME. Flubbie fans have made the arguement that because Sosa has had no talent behind him, the Cubs haven't had winning seasons. Look at the 1991 season for us....we went 85-77....how in the hell did we do that? Our biggest power guy(other than Frank)was Robin Ventura...he hit .284 23 100....all team high numbers. That means that only 2 players on that team hit atleast .284 23 100. Fisk and Pasqua both hit 18 homers and both struck out 86 times....Fisk hit .241, Pasqua hit .259. We also had a young SamME Sosa...he hit .203 10 33 with 14 walks and 98 K's(in 116 games...ouch). The bullpen deserves a lot of credit for that...but we only had 1 starter with an ERA under 4(McDowell at 3.41....and this is not in the juiced ball era, remember). He also threw over 250 innings. Not much, really. Given, that was a year after the Sox won 94 games....but still, consider that. In 1992....Thomas finished second on the team in homers(to one George Bell...who was proud of his .294 OBP)....however, no one else hit 20....and only 4 were in double digits. Other than Frank, 1 guy hit above .290, 1 guy hit above .280 and 2 guys hit .279(anyone remember Shawn Abner?). The starting rotation improved slightly, and the bullpen statistically was about the same....but had two guys with an ERA over 4.75....and two guys below 2.00. That isn't much talent, if you ask me. I won't talk about 1993 and 1994....but we probably wouldn't have been as successful without Thomas. In 1996....the Sox were a better team than their final record indicated. They did have talent offensively...and had the pitching staff been as good as it was in 1993 or 1994....they could have been playoff bound. Same thing could be said about the 1995 staff...though their pitching was worse than the 96 staff. This was really when the Sox became a big offensive team rather than a big pitching team. The Sox pitching, again, was bad in 1997....and without Thomas's great year, we probably wouldn't have been where we were. The point being Cubs fans really can't talk about SamME not having talent around him....because for a few years, Thomas has had no talent around him either. The White Sox have still been consistently better than the Cubs....atleast when he had good pitching around him...he could use it. Unlike SamME....he has good pitching around him right now...and he had it last year as well. I bet the Cubs don't crack the 75 win barrier...and they didn't crack the 70 win barrier this past year. It is very pitiful when you lose 90 games.....does anybody realize that Thomas doesn't know what it feels like to lose 90 games? He never will either...because he makes the team that much better....atleast a 73 win team....and usually more.
  5. That'd be f***ing sweet...hell, I'd pay $10 bucks a year for that stuff if that's what it takes. I've never done a keeper league...but they sound awesome. How long do they last? Like forever?
  6. cw....I can't answer your question...but I will say this. You will be able to add '03 to that list after this year as well. I don't think any Sox player has ever even considered the possibility of winning 4 championships of any type.
  7. lol yea it worked for them.. look at what guys like griff and pay rod have done since their departure.........absoultely nothing.........lol..........addition by subtraction always works out well......... HSC...Griffey hit 40 homers a year after his departure from Seattle, got hurt, and hasn't played fulltime since. However, ARod hit .318 52 135 with 18 SBs in 2001 and hit .300 57 142 with 9 SBs this past year....those are some pretty good stats. Not worth $25 mill a year....but maybe $15 mill....especially considering he is a SS that plays rock solid defense(280 put outs, 452 assists, 118 DPs turned and 18 errors in 01; 259 put outs, 472 assists, 108 DPs turned and 10 errors in 02). Arod just has very little around him in Texas(which IS partly due to his huge salary). That's the big reason why Texas has been unsuccessful I know what the comment HSC made was, but the point was not how well Griffey and ARod did after they left Seattle, but how Seattle got better each year after losing one of their stars. They lost arguably the best OF in the game (at the time) and did better the next year. They lose ARod, agruably the best player in the game period, and won 116 games! That my friend, is addition by subtraction. A big reason the Mariners won in those years was NOT because they got rid of Griffey and then not resigning ARod....a big reason they won is because of what happened and because of the great moves Pat Gillick made. He got Mike Cameron, Brett Tomko....and a few others that I'm not thinking of in the Griffey trade....since then, Tomko has been traded to San Diego and the Mariners got a good backup catcher in Ben Davis and Mike Cameron has turned into a 25-25 guy that plays gold glove defense with a good arm....they also won the bidding of Ichiro, a player no one had ever seen prior to his entrance into the MLB....he surprised everyone and hit like .350 or .360 with 50 SBs, great defense and an incredible arm in the outfield....he was a major reason why the Mariners won in 2001. They also got great numbers from Bret Boone....who to that point in his career was like a .250 15 60 a guy year with pretty good defense....in 2001, he hit .325 37 135 or something to the extent....career year? I think so. In the rotation.....Garcia had a great year...Moyer had a great year...Sele had a great year....Abbott had a pretty good year....and I believe it was Halama who also had a pretty solid year....and then their bullpen was among the best in the league. Not only this, but they had many lucky breaks(though that season is highlighted by something very unlucky....blowing a 12-run lead to Cleveland and then losing the game 15-14). Their bench was also among the best in the league, being both deep and very good. When you mix all that together....a ton of career years offensively plus a great rotation plus a great bullpen plus a good and deep bench plus magic....you will usually win atleast 90 games....and if all 5 are very good....you will win more than that even(like 26 more to be exact...in the M's case anyways). I think it was more a lot of things falling in place the way they should rather than addition by subtraction. You don't think they would have won 116 games with a healthy Griffey Jr and ARod in the lineup and at their respective positions instead of having Cameron in CF and Guillen at SS? I think they would have won 120-125 games....and spent about $20-$30 million more.
  8. The Sox have a ton of relievers in the minors...including a lot of lefties. Munoz, Sanders, Stewart, Ring....and even more as well....could ALL be used as lefty specialists. Hell, we could sign friggin Jesse Orosco after this year to be a lefty specialist....they're not that hard to find. Dan Plesac could also be used...and he has actually stated interest in pitching in Chicago. How do you know he wouldn't have been invited to SoxFest? Kelly is a guy that is a very nice person from what I've heard....you are not going to want an asshole coming to SoxFest to be an asshole...but just because he's an asshole doesn't mean he is a bad player. Also....is the reason that Colon wasn't at SoxFest because he is going to be released after ST? I highly doubt it If he isn't known by anyone else in the MLB, then why last year when he was put on waivers did a team try to claim him? The Sox pulled him off waivers after that and didn't put him back on....because there was a possibility that if a good enough offer came up, they would have traded him during August....but because he didn't clear waivers, he couldn't be traded. Obviously, someone wanted him and knows who he is.
  9. I'm never going to read Moronotti's articles....ever. Not even if he is prasing the White Sox and what they do as a team and saying the Cubs suck ass. I won't even read that...because I already know that. He won't tell me anything I don't know and I won't like it....and with the way he apparently spins it negative, it will make me want to puke. You just want to slap him.....because he's such a dick
  10. I wasn't sure which forum to put this in(whether it be fantasy league stuff or this one because it pertains to the Sox....because the guy was talking about sleepers for drafting in fantasy leagues) Anyways, Dave Srinivasan gave your boy Dan Wright a holler....the very last person he put. Here's what he said He also gave Jon Garland a mention as well.... Anyways....thought I'd share this with you
  11. The big 3-0....have a good one. Happy Birthday!
  12. Soxfest....what would it take to get Foulke? How about a trade of Glavine and Trachsel for Foulke and Thomson?
  13. Any of my starters are available for good relievers..I'm even willing to take offers for Glavine if the reliever offer is good enough.
  14. you know the round you drafted huff in i was gonna take him...he was my sleeper pick for 1st base..i think he is gonna have a very good season ..but nobody will notice..lol Good for me...I hope he has a great year too
  15. I'd do it....that'd be cool if it happened
  16. Damn....I still don't know who I'd choose. One actually plays defense....one really needs to come through for the season to be successful. s***....I guess I'd have to choose the Big Hurt. Now....say the same situation comes up with Colon and Buehrle....however, this time both are rock solid throughout the year....Buehrle is 23-7 with a 3.15 ERA...Colon is 20-9 with a 2.80 ERA....who do you choose? Both are solid in the postseason too....about the same, if you wanted to know.
  17. I got 6 starters....but I believe I got 3 of them real late(Mays, Dessens, and Trachsel, who the computer drafted for me). I also have a pretty good offense....IMO anyways. C Mike Piazza 1B Aubrey Huff 2B Jeff Kent 3B Joe Crede SS Tony Womack OF Johnny Damon OF Juan Pierre OF Jose Cruz Util Ellis Burks Bench...David Ortiz, Kevin Mench and Danny Bautista I also have Mike Williams for my closer(aside from Trevor Hoffman - :fyou ) and JC Romero and Felix Rodriguez. I figure I need more relief pitchers.
  18. I could say the same thing I said on the White Sox board....I don't know if I want to though. Maybe I should just copy and paste....I dunno. It was a half-decent article....I like the fact that the Twins are showing this feeling that they are better than us and that whatever we do is not good enough...that's what the Sox did going into 2001...and then they got the absolute s*** kicked out of them....sitting in last place at one time. I am going to enjoy having the Twins watch us in the postseason....regardless of how we do. It seems they come off feeling we are the same team that got the s*** kicked out of us last year...when in reality....we've really made about 5(depends....I consider Jose at SS instead of 3B a change...some may not) changes in the lineup...2 in the rotation....3 in the pen...and I'm guessing about 4 for the bench(also depends on this one....if you consider Alomar the same as last year...I personally don't) and all are for the positive(except at 2B...and at times, that will be better than what Durham would have done)....we are not only improved talent wise...but also attitude wise. This team is much, much better than it was last year...and the Twins saw how good the team was without Colon, Koch, Gordon, and White in September....and we kicked the s*** out of them(outscored them like 32-8 in one series or something...and nearly beat them in all 3 games of the final series). They are too confident...and are going to hit the ground when they fall....real hard.
  19. You break that tie by the subjective standard of who did what that meant more at the time it was done. A 1-2 finish in MVP would be a tribute to everyone. OK then...I make it more tricky. Thomas hits a homer to tie the game that we win the division in.....Maggs hits a homer on the next pitch to win it. Thomas is steady all year long.....Maggs heats up during the summer(similar to last year). However, Thomas is on fire during September(the "what have you done for me lately theory?" comes into effect....both do a little lately) And (hypothetically)both contribute equally in the postseason and are named co-MVPs of the World Series(hypothetically because there is no guarantee we will make it to the World Series and then win it). Then who do you give it to?
  20. "That's a slap in the face. I earned the right to be at a certain level and I'm not there anymore," Thomas said. what exactly does thomas mean by that???..its not very clear...he could be saying he is mad at KW and JR for invoking the DSC becasue he feels what he has already accomplished meand he should get preferential treatment... it also could mean that he knows he is not there anymore and it was a slap in the face to him...that he earned the right to be at that level but lost it...that he is mad at himself and thats why he is working so hard this off season... frank isnt the most articulate guy around...its hard to figure out exactly what he means at times Maybe that's his intention....trying to make it mean two different things.
  21. From witesoxfans studs: Hey mac(aka The Team) What would be a trade I could make for Valentin? How about Womack and Mench for Valentin and Patterson?
  22. Baggs...if you want to make an offer for Ortiz....I'll probably consider it. I might accept it...I don't know. Be fore-warned for if you do make an offer....the Red Sox have a lot of 1B types....Giambi, Ortiz, Millar...and probably more. That's why he's on my bench and Huff is starting(also because Huff is a better hitter).
  23. i know this chick who will bite them off your ass for 50 bucks!!! :puke Yummy! :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke
  24. Trachsel and for anyone who wants to take a chance on him, Hoffman as well(dammit). I'd obviously like to improve on those spots. Not much, in other words. I usually don't do much trading at all during the season...but will consider all offers(unless it is stupid)
